August 10, 201114 yr The boys are getting old now, and Chris has made comments on the longevity of bands and how at 30 things change. What do you guys think?
August 10, 201114 yr Chris seems like one of those guys that couldn't stop if he tried. What else would he do?
August 10, 201114 yr I thought that a while ago Chris stated that he does not think "bands should keep going past the age of 33", but later rephrased this to say that what he meant was that they must proceed "as if it's our last, because that's the only way to proceed". So, it's not their last. Kinda very obvious. Anyway, at last a new topic / not repeated thread.
August 10, 201114 yr HOPE NOT I wish they will stick togheter until they turn 60 but... dont think so
August 10, 201114 yr A little off-topic: If Radiohead stops, Coldplay will do the same, and I would suicide 2 times. Hopefully this will never happen :P
August 10, 201114 yr shiz, how do you post spoilers? EDIT: I wanted to spoiler the Off-topic, but I don't know how
August 10, 201114 yr It would be interesting to know what their contractual obligation to EMI is. They may very well have to produce an album six or seven to fufill it. Not that you want a band that you love only making music because they are legally obligated to... Anyone with some knoledge on the music industry know how this works? If a band signs with a label for say, six albums, do they have to produce six albums or does the label just have the rights to six albums IF they are produced?

Im certain of it
August 10, 201114 yr Nah, I think they'll be one of those bands who get into the double digits for albums.
August 10, 201114 yr Nah, I think they'll be one of those bands who get into the double digits for albums. I can see that, too.
August 10, 201114 yr Nah, I think they'll be one of those bands who get into the double digits for albums. I hope you're right! I don't know what I would do without Coldplay. Seriously, it would be bad.
August 10, 201114 yr I LOVE Coldplay!!! They have been my favorite band since I was, like, seven... which was about ten years ago. I think they'll release a couple more albums! But after that I'm hoping another band/artist will come in and take their place! I think Arcade Fire is the next runner up once Coldplay leaves :) But we still got a loooonngg time! All sorts of things happen within a period for 7-10 years.
August 10, 201114 yr I think they want to be a memorable band..and they wouldn't be thaaaaat memorable or redeemed with just 5 LP's.
August 10, 201114 yr They're too known to just make 5 albums lol. I feel like they might.. U2 us jahajhaaj whjaeyt i hope not I mean he needs to take care of his kids you know ew
August 10, 201114 yr Its hard for me to believe that they will find new motivation after this 3 year process of recording a new album in which they put everything. I really look forward because it will be a masterpiece, so its hard to make a new album afterwards...
August 10, 201114 yr 5 albums with EMI. In 2010 they signed a contract with Universal Publishing, a huge contract http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/3100567/Coldplay-sign-huge-deal-with-Univeral-Music-Publishing.html
