Me too. Achtung Baby is one of my favorite albums by anyone. New stuff isn't a total trainwreck but it's very hit-and-miss. I have some friends seeing an acoustic set with Bono and The Edge tonight, but they're not going for them. They're going for Lady Gaga and Usher instead. :facepalm: What a waste.

To be honest U2s albums are not really as sudden change in must style as what Coldplay have done. So it doesn't seem as "omfg what happend to the old stuff" as it does with Coldplay. Personally I like the newer stuff as much as the older stuff and look foward to what they will do next.

 

yeah, you're totally right, but the old stuff has some kind of "magic" for me, I don't know how to describe it

Maybe, maybe not. I'm going with the later. My music taste is quite varied and crazy. For example its stuck in the 80s some days, and other days the 90s and then well then it just sort of trails off with the usual few bands I listen to then back to crazy 80s stuff.

 

Sometimes 70s stuff as well.

U2 have a different problem than Coldplay mainly because they've been around 3 times as long, so their big battle is remaining relevant, which they've done a pretty remarkable job of doing even though their biggest hits are still their oldest ones. I didn't really like NLOTH but I found a fair bit of enjoyment in HTDAAB, and really, we don't know how much longer they'll continue chugging along.

Maybe we do have the same taste. For me that was the song which I liked first from the album, where as my brother was more interested in Magnicifant. I hated it to begin with, but then ended up liking the whole album. Though my favorite is I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight.

Interesting, I love NLOTH but I hate HTDAAB. Though City Of Blinding Lights is a beautiful tune. But the album is a little bit commercial.

 

The thing that REALLY dissapoints me, is that they're working with RedOne (producer of Lady Gaga), and that they want to make some "catchy tunes"...

 

I don't have problems with Pop, but they are waay better than that!
