What score will Pitchfork give Coldplay?

Featured Replies

But, i predict them to find a flaw, and to poke at it, and wear away at it. By that i want them to score them a 9.0, but sadly, if they find a flaw, they will rate it a 3.5 or 5.0. if they find no flaws, we might be looking at a high score rating.

Come on they gave AROBTTH 5.1? It deserves more than that.

I still think that James Blake is the only thing they've reviewed this year that deserves a 9 or over. Bon Iver should have been in the range of 8.5 and Fleet Foxes at 6.5...

Wow. Well if they gave ARoBttH a 5.1 then I doubt they'll like MX. It sounds decent so far, but it doesn't compare.

(of course, that could always change :sneaky:)

The one thing I don't get is how on earth they could give VLV a higher rating than both Parachutes and AROBTTH

They were willing to give "Helplessness Blues" by Fleet Foxes a 2 (which is BULL, by the way). I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Coldplay got an equally low score.

Yeah, they gave it more than a 2!

And yes, it is nice that they crapped on an album like The Resistance and didn't just say nice things about it because others were.

What? Helplessness Blues got an 8.8, and THAT is bull.

Oh. Oops. My bad. I thought I had heard somewhere on the forum that Fleet Foxes got a 2 from somewhere. My mistake. :embarrassed:

Also was impressed they gave MIA's latest a really low score since they were really high on her first few albums.

Well..at least they are honest and don't just kiss up to successful bands.

Still don't think I'm gonna take their review of MX too seriously.

while pitchfork definitely rips on coldplay, i think most of their ripping has been from a place that made sense. i love coldplay, they're my favorite band, but a lot of that doesn't have to do with how incredible their albums are in comparison to other bands musically. they reach me at a personal level very little other music can.

that said, i really think coldplay are primed to get their best album rating yet, probably closer to 7.5. the tracks that we've heard sound good and i bet their album versions will musically push themselves further than they ever have before. i don't think they were kind in their evaluation of viva. i think they were right on the mark for them. but this time i think it'll be up even higher.

Well, they gave VLV a good rating (at least for Coldplay... 6.9? right?). In my opinion (from what I've heard) I think LP5 might be better. There's hope for it, but some critics' favorite sport is to bash on Coldplay. I don't think know if much will change.

I originally voted on the low score, but I'm beginning to think it might actually be a bit higher now...

They have the potential to do good or really really mess things up.

Which do you think it will be?

The first 3 albums scored in the 5.0 range and yet Viva la Vida somehow got a 6.9 or something, so Pitchfork clearly has their heads screwed on backwards when it comes to Coldplay. Judging by the crap we've heard so far from the album, I'd say it will almost be worthy of Pitchfork's Best New Music stamp, but not quite. They'll give it a 7.8 so it can still be below The King of Limbs.

I said 3.1-4.

Dunno why though, I never really agree with any review Pitchfork has.

Why do i care? THE ONLY SCORE THAT MATTERS IS MINE

They are obviously not objective, so I can't give them any credits.

Yes, you can diss me :p

I'll be generous and say 5.3.

:blank: They gave Viva la Vida a higher rating than A Rush of Blood to the Head....

AROBTTH > VLV

5.3

AROBTTH > VLV

VLV > AROBTTH

Haha ;)

I'll go with an average score of 5.1-6.0.

If you just come into this thread and diss pitchfork I will diss you right back.
Pitchfork are shit.
