Mylo Xyloto means 'The Love Of Mine' in Balinese language

"Mylo Xyloto" is traditional Balinese. Its English translation is "The Love

of Mine." The term "xyloto" is used in a particularly small region of

Java, which is ironic because Chris Martin has refused to play in Java

for many years now."

Q. Dear Oracle,

What does Mylo Xyloto mean?

x

The Oracle replies:

This could win the prize for the most asked question in the shortest space of time! All I will say is that if the band are asked it as many times as I have been asked, an answer will appear soon enough! I'd rather not be the revealer on this occasion.

I will dispel a couple of suggestions I received though. It's not been randomly made up with no meaning at all nor is it a foreign language.

Everyone has been so patient so far with all the teasing that has been going on during the past 3 months so I'm sure we can hang on a little longer...

^this

For some folks, even the Oracle isn't convincing enough

This is the interpretation I most want to be true. Better than that cobbled-together rubbish of it being "people making music with weird instruments" or whatever it was.

hahah I know!

sorry, I just can't get the meaning of "Chris refused to play in Java"...?

sorry again 4 poor english :)

it's amazing how much hate that goes around - why can't you let people come up with things - it's part of the fun, art is up to the interpreter.

this jocular need to bash others or act like no one else can come up with ideas or thoughts for the new album title is pure anathema.

And I didn't say it was people making weird music with instruments - thanks for the intellectual honesty.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, I just really didn't believe in your theory. I totally respect your right to theorise however, and hey, there were plenty of people on that thread that thought I was an idiot for disputing your effort.

We're all on this site because we have something amazing in common; I really don't want to upset anyone.

it definitely does not mean that LOL

i'm Indonesian, and I do come from Java, so I should know :D

.... and I didn't know Chris refused to play in Java!!!! That's just sad.....:bigcry::bigcry:

I just had a thought:

Mylo Xyloto

My Lo(ve) Xyloto (Still working on it

^^ That sounds pretty Major Minus-like... But everything posted here is probably just a coincidence.

I just will not believe that it doesn't mean anything though, that it's just a random name.

I think they have their own theory behind the title and we won't find out until the second half of October.

I just will wait until Chris, Jonny, Guy, Will or all them reveal what's the meaning. We are closer than we think.

It can also be roughly translated from Taiwanese to mean "In Rainbows."
