Prospector
Don't think that we can seriously consider the lyrics. We have to see them in context with the song and with the storyline behind. Yes, I think you're right, it's a concept album so let's wait.
juanif94
It would be nice then to create a thread when the album comes out and put all the lyrics of the songs together so we can read the story ;)

RiotFever
I think they are referring "slow down" to the "up in flames" they slow the Flames down with water. us against the world reference: slooooooooooooooow it down
jgk
So it's over This time I know it's gone Salt water You tasted it too long I put it on Once it starts Up in flames Up in flames Up in flames We have slowed way down So it's over As time flyin' on This time I know your song Stop and slowed way down Stop and slowed way down Up in flames Up in flames Up in flames We have slowed way down Up in flames Up in flames Up in flames We have slowed way down Oh, we have slowed way down Can we pour some water on...? Could this verse be something like this: So it's over As time flyin on This time I know no song Can stop its slowly burn Can stop its slowly burn Just what I hear when I listen, I know if this is correct "slowly" doesn't really fit and should just be "slow" but it really sounds like it is what he says if you listen to this recording...[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q60WdWLAUtU&feature=related]Up in Flames Coldplay - Live Debut 09/15/2011 ACL Taping - YouTube[/ame]

So it's over, This time I know it's gone, It's all over..., You tasted it too long, pour it on, (?) Once it starts... Up in flames, Up in flames, Up in flames, We have slowed it down... So it's over, It's time flying on, This time I know your song/son, Stop and slow it down, Stop and slow it down... Up in flames, Up in flames, Up in flames, We have slowed it down..., Up in flames, Up in flames, Up in flames, Oh...slow it down, Oh, slow it down.. Could we pour some water on? jgk
I am actually thinking that the verse could be like this: So it's over As time flyin' on This time I know no song Can stop its lonely burn Can stop its lonely burn The "can" is really subtle. Let me know what you all think.
Zj23
The last lyric sounds like "You're impossible to love." Edit: Nvm, i hear pour some water on now. :P
Reborn
I think this could be the second verse: So it's over It's time to flying on This time I know no song Can stop it slowing down Can stop it slowing down
jgk
I think this could be the second verse: So it's over It's time to flying on This time I know no song Can stop it slowing down Can stop it slowing down If you listen closely you can hear that he says burn, not down. Also I feel like everyone thinks these lyrics are so bad because everyone has them wrong on here, making them not really make any sense.
greenjelly13
This is what i hear the lyrics as, not saying they're correct folks!!! So it's over, This time I know it's gone, Salt water there, You tasted it to long. Only know i'm wrong, Once it stung. Up in flames, Up in flames, Up in flames, We have slowly died. So it's over, It's time flying on, This time I know no song, Can stop it slowly burn, Can stop it slowly burn. Up in flames, Up in flames, Up in flames, We have slowly died, Up in flames, Up in flames, Up in flames, We have slowly died, We have slowly died. Can we pour some oil around... and here is a complimentary smiley :)

I have thought it was probably "died" since the first time i heard it, glad someone else hears it too. In the second verse after "This time I know no song" I still really feel like it is "Can stop it's lonely burn.....Can stop it's lonely burn." It sounds right to me, plus it seems to be the only thing that makes sense.
nathondetroit
This what I've been hearing: So it's over, this time I know it's gone Salt water, you've tasted it too long Would you know why I'm wrong Once it stung Up in Flames, Up in Flames Up in Flames We have slowly burned So it's over, this time we're fly'n on This time I know no song can stop it slowly burn can stop it slowly burn Up in Flames, Up in Flames Up in Flames We have slowly burned Up in Flames, Up in Flames Up in Flames Oh we have slowly burned Oh we have slowly burned Can we pour some water on
Kiame
I'm fairly confident these are the lyrics: So it's over, This time I know it's gone. Salt water. You tasted it too long. Pour it on my heart. Once it stung. Up in Flames Up in Flames Up in flames We have slowly burned. So it's over This time flying on This time I know your song Stop and slowly burn. Stop and slowly burn. Up in flames Up in flames Up in flames We have slowly burned Up in flames Up in flames Up in flames Oh, we have slowly burned. Oh, we have slowly burned. Can we pour some water on? twitchy517
I think the phrase might be, "we have slowly gone." Especially since the saying is usually going up in flames, this makes sense to me.
Miha
This is the correct version I think. I'm not even English and yet I hear this: So it's over, This time I know it's gone. Salt water. You tasted it too long. I only know why I'm wrong. Now I know it's gone. Up in Flames Up in Flames Up in Flames We have slowly gone. So it's over This time you're flying on This time I know no song could stop it slowly burn. could stop it slowly burn. Up in flames Up in flames Up in flames We have slowly gone. Up in flames Up in flames Up in flames Oh, we have slowly gone. Oh, we have slowly gone. Can we pour some water on? Almost 100% it's the right interpretation! panicked
You did well! The second "So it's over' bit is slightly different according to the lyric sheet in my Japanese copy: So it's over This time you're flying on This time I know no song Can stop its lonely burn Can stop it slowly going Up In Flames etc
