Coldplay - Cake Club Video Of The Week

Featured Replies

Before I begin… I must warn you (Yes, you. Hey there, handsome:wink3:) that I am deeply in love with everything related to Coldplay. Therefore, you must prepare yourself to read ‘I love’ or ‘I absolutely love’ about 30000 times in the following review. I apologize in advance. Also, I will place slightly pervy comments about Chris into a spoiler to protect the (few) innocent souls in this world from the madness that is called fangirling. So, let us begin

So. Glastonbury 2005 kicks off with Square One. I gotta say, Will is amazing in this.. really beating the shit out of those drums!! A list of very pretty close-up shots of Chris are particularly nice to look at.

YES, ROW.. it starts with ‘s’ and ends with ‘tool’ :sneaky:

I think the boys really nailed this song.. full of movement, passion.. everybody seems to really enjoy it! The song is really starting to grow on me…

Next song is Politik. Never gets old, always loved it and probably always will. I love how Chris completely alters the lyrics to fit the Glasto situation:) Creative! And in the ‘calm’ piano bit.. Chris really gets into the song.. so focused.. Too bad they don’t play it anymore, hehe

At 10.30 there’s the cute little speech. By the way.. all members look particularly hot in black. But you probably already knew that  YELLOW!!! I love it how Guy is moving around here, he usually just stands still and.. you know.. look sexy;) No other remarks.. just a very nice performance!

GPASUYF.. another classic. I only have one thing to say about this....

HONEY HONEYYYYYYYYYYYYY :sneaky:

Okay, maybe two things.. I like that they still play the original version here. I’m getting used to the altered new one, but this one is quite nice as well :) And the instrumental part ROCKS.

Speed of Sound.. one of my favorites.. Chris even hits the high notes properly!! And again, nice close ups

Low.. this one scared me a bit.. I didn’t recognize it at first! I blame the Strawberry Swing, haha! Can’t say this is one of my favorite songs, but it’s a nice performance, nevertheless. Like it how all the bandmembers sing along at parts! :)

Warning Sign. “And the truth is… I miss you so…” Sigh. I love it how Chris always intensely enjoys it when the audience sings along..

Everything not lost… another one of my favorites!! The lyrics are relatable to so many aspects of life.. and so hopeful!  “ Ahh-ahh, yeah… Aah-ahh, yeah..” It really is impossible for me not to sing along at those parts.. I don’t think I’m the only one? ;) And Chris’ whistle, hahaha. I didn’t even see that while watching the gig for the first time, I just noticed

White Shadows… I can’t sit still when they play this. Bytheway, Chris is really into randomly screaming ‘Jonnyboy, J-boy…etc’ this gig  And a little Buckin moment at the end

The Scientist. Bring out the tissues, please!! This song just brings tears to my eyes every single time.. so many memories attached to it for me. But, apart from that.. wow. What a song. I love how he jokes around about Jonny.. ‘best guitarist in the world.. except maybe Slash’.. LOL. And the ‘wooh-ooh’ singing along part in the end.. again, magical. I’m repeating myself so much, sorry for that. And the camera thingy, CUTE.

I bet Row really liked the Phil Collins section? :sneaky:

But seriously, Chris, honey, what’s with the ‘two dads and gay dad’ bit? LOL

Till Kingdome Come.. beautiful, beautiful song. The lyrics on this are amazing.. Chris is hopping during most of the song, haha. Oh, also, very irrelevant, but I love Guy’s hair here.

We live in a beautiful world, yeah we do, yeah we do.

Filled with beautiful lead singers, who can make harmonica playing look SEXY :dazzled:

Clocksss. AKA the ‘stool humping song’. He just can’t seem to get enough of it.

And neither do we :sneaky:

I never get tired of this song, it’s so good live, and so powerful! I love how they just keep going where the song normally ends..

STOOL ALERT. *keep breathing*

Okay. And here, I get mad. Why would you cut off Swallowed in the Sea? WHY, BBC? :stunned:

Encore time. Could Chris’ smile get any bigger when getting on stage? And there comes.. I just can’t get you out of my head. All that Buckin going on :bomb: :bomb: I

Stool humping, singing ‘I just cant get you out of my head, BOY’, looking at Jonny. All at the same time. It’s so obvious Chrissy. So obvious :sneaky:

In my place… Not the same without the confetti, and the X-stage Chris can run on. He does a funny dance instead, and shows his sexy legs, haha. That’s okay too, I guess

Fix You. You know a song is pure perfection when you don’t even realize you’re crying, because you’re so into it. Goosebumps.

Tummy alert when he’s swinging that light around

Oh, one final remark. That ‘mtf’ on the side of his piano.. the first thing I always think of when seeing that is

motherfucker

instead of Make Trade Fair. That’s bad, innit?

Ok. Soooo, this was it. Dead fingers, can't type anymore. But Glasto 2005 is worth it :)

Oh Mara... I'm not LOL.. But thank you.

As you know.. some of us.. who will have to remain nameless to protect the innocent (yeah right ) have cheated and already watched this!

They know who they are however and WILL be expected to submit a FULL review before the end of next week..

I know that this could be slightly difficult for a certain nameless person, who was drinking some sort of fruity concoction I believe whilst watching...

This is NO excuse and any late homework from this particular group will be severely punished! :whip: ;)

I shall pass on the message to Kristal :laugh3: :laugh3:

:laugh3: ^^

Yes, agreed, great review, Ellen. Going to be hard to top that.

By "full report", I'm presuming that means we go through all the songs the way Ellen did? My thoughts as follows:

So I'm apparently addicted to "Square One" lately. I think this performance of the song is to blame for that. I dunno, it's just such a great way to kick off their set, it's an excellent version...all around awesome. And I really like that ticking clock (...ha...) in the background.

Chris gets sorta "Phantom of the Opera"-ish at some point during "Politik"...he's just going nuts on that piano, and then he adds that really weird, cool bit at the end of the song proper. I seriously half expect him to don a cape and a mask that covers part of his face.

I absolutely love the addition of "my love" to the song "Yellow". It makes me all fluttery when I hear it. And I like Chris's funky guitar he uses.

"God Put A Smile..." is SO amazing and really sexy. I couldn't stop moving like crazy in my chair the whole time and was rocking out as much as they were-I always love seeing them perform this song, they look like they have a total blast every single time. Anyone who thinks they're just a quiet, pretty little ballad/piano group needs to see performances like this.

"Speed Of Sound" is particularly strong live, and I like seeing Chris wander around with his microphone for some reason. Also, some of the closeups make me really want to reach through the screen and touch his face. "Low" has Chris's scream towards the end, which is...yeah :wink3:.

"Warning Sign" is lovely, Jonny's guitar at the end is just sublime, Chris looks particularly good here, and I want his red guitar (among other things, LOL). And he's also cute as hell hopping and dancing about during "White Shadows".

"The Scientist" will never fail to sweep me away. Ever. It's always going to be gorgeous and always going to be my favorite Coldplay song and that's that .

I've made note of this elsewhere before, but I LOVE Chris's shoutout about "My Two Dads", because I am familiar with that show and I get a kick out of the fact that Chris knows of it, too. I'm kinda curious to know which dad he was referring to (for those who don't know of this show, a Wiki link for you (hey, references! Like a real school report!): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/My_Two_Dads). And the intimate bit with "'Til Kingdom Come" and "Don't Panic" is lovely-these guys love playing together and it shows so beautifully here. And Will is lovely at the piano and Guy just looks so, so good.

"Clocks"...what was with Chris's weird rotating, like, 360 degrees (or close to it) on his stool thing he did at one point during that song? Anyone else catch that? It was rather cool. And the whole buildup jam at the end...yeah, that is THE definition of "musical sex", right there. Chris doing all sorts of unspeakable moves on his piano stool just adds to the sheer hotness of that whole bit.

Would love to find a full version of "Swallowed in the Sea" sometime. Sigh. Shame it got mostly cut.

"Can't Get You Out Of My Head" never fails to make me smile and crack me up. No change in the gender, I love that, and Chris is doing everything in his power to get Jonny's attention and it's just wonderful. And on top of it all their version of the song is just superb.

More cute goofy dancing from Chris during "In My Place", and Buckin! Woo! And then "Fix You" comes along and does what it always does to me, and then that little funny, sweet speech at the end cheers me up and makes me smile.

In conclusion, this gig pretty well confirms I NEED to go to Glastonbury someday. Not want to. NEED to.
