I thought they were tied to EMI until after their 7th album

^ They like to be owned by EMI, it actually is a very flexible label, comapring to others like Universal and Sony.

As already mentioned, we've heard this plenty of times before. Chris does say 'this is our last [x]' from time to time, but he probably means that they've put some effort on such a thing (most of times, their latest album at the occasion), that they feel as if they had nothing left to do afterwards.

 

When it's time for their last album and tour, then we'll have very little to do about it, but I don't think (neither do I hope) it'll be anytime soon.

The band loves the job they have, they can't stop. It's the last album by EMI, but also the last Parlophone? I hope not because Parlophone is the label of such great names, coldplay is one of them. they aren't allowed to release a album without the Parlophone sign... :p

I've only heard that they want to make break a few years until the next album, because it's the time of Adele and Justin Bieber (haha :D). But MX won't be the last album! : )

Chris has been saying that for a long time... But he's clearly just joking.

Remember in one interview Chris said he wants the finish the newer trilogy.

 

First trilogy:

Parachutes, AROBTTH, X&Y,

Second Trilogy:

VLVODAAHF, Mylo Xyloto, ?

 

We need an ending, so no worries ! :D

I think I'd much rather one more than like 2038789247 more. I'd like them to challange everything they have into one amazing album rather then just a few good albums.

I might die if they don't make another. It was hard enough waiting three years. Forever would be torture.

Didn't Jonny just say during the Twitter live chat that "They have a good idea of when they want to make the next record..."?

This definitely won't be their last. And I can honestly wait for new Coldplay music because I enjoy their discography so much. I just got back into X&Y like it was brand-new. And their B-Sides never get old.

Thats true!:PAnd Jonny said some on twitter Q&A that shows they will have another album.

I listened to an interview with Chris this week on the radio and he said that the band have very exciting things planned for the fans. :)
