How well known is Swedish music around the world?

Featured Replies

As you all probably know one of the most known Swedish brands in the world is IKEA, and almost everyone knows what it is. But how about Swedish music? Do you listen to it or ever hear it on the radio?

Example of a few you might have heard of:

ABBA - probably the biggest Swedish band ever

Roxette - One of my favorite bands, and the first one i ever saw live back in 95 when i was 3 years old (just about to turn 4)

Loreen - Winner of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest

Robyn - Opened for Coldplay at a few shows during the MX-tour

Swedish House Mafia - A different kind of music, which i don't know if anyone here likes (i don't), however they all went their separate ways about two weeks ago

do you ever listen to any of these^^ or any other Swedish artist, band, groups etc?

I have heard of all of those musicians.. Maybe that's because I live so close to Sweden? :P

But I don't really listen to any of it.

I definitely know Abba (my mom love their music btw  ), I also know Robyn, but only because of Coldplay I guess, and I haven't really listened to her, and I know Swedish House Mafia too (loved their last video with the dogs saving people lollol :awesome: ).

Otherwise....I don't think I know any Swedish artist/band, or maybe I do but I don't know they're Swedish.

I know all of those Swedish artists. The last artist you mentioned (that split up recently) has currently a great hit - it is played a lot on Danish radio stations.

I grew up with ABBA and ABBA is among my favourites alongside the Beatles, Coldplay and U2.

The Hives and Pluxus are Swedish bands I like.

Heard of a band called This Is Head too, though I wouldn't say I like them as I've only heard a remix of one of their songs that I like. They might be awful.

does anyone even acknowledge their existence apart from that whistling song

Tallest Man on Earth is Swedish? I did not know that. cool.

Nope, I wasn't even aware that they made an album in Swedish. I haven't listened to them in quite a while tbh. I loved Hurricane Bar back then. :surprised:
