Well they were there last year, so I think they didn't want to take away from the other fantastic artists this year by performing another MX song. And also perhaps they privately received the word that they didn't win anyhting so why come?

 

But yes, I'm quite sad we won't be hearing another classic Chris Martin exceptance speech.

C'mon, Lonely Boy is a kick-ass song. So is Gold on the Ceiling and Little Black Submarines. The Black Keys caught lightning in a bottle this year, where as Coldplay just put out another solid effort. MX definitely was not VLVODAAHF

Paradise was the only big commercial hit in the states at least. The next biggest was PoC, almost solely because of the names in the credits -- ehem RiRi. Next next biggest was ETIAW, which got little to none recognition. So, all in all, these results don't surprise me.

 

Again, MX is no VLVODAAHF or AROBTTH.

Well, unfortunately they just missed last year's entrance period. By the time this year's Grammys rolled around, so many other good things had been released and MX was just sorta put on the shelf

I don't know why some people are surprised MX didn't get nominated or any of the singles. Charlie Brown is a fan favorite, ETDIAWF wasn't a huge hit, and Paradise was considered a pop song. Coldplay is not considered a pop band. Coldplay won't be recognized for pop songs and albums until they have massive hits that are number one, and that simply didn't happen.

half the people in the categories were not full on rock, they had alternative , folk , pop rock. So the grammy's are predictable and and gave it to the black keys because not only do I think they deserve it , but the're the only rock in there. But i would of love to see the look on Dave Ghrol's face if Coldplay won, cause he hates them. lol

 

The reason they did not go is because they know they weren't going to win. Lets face it we all knew it.

And Dave Grohl doesn't hate Coldplay. He loves joking about them and making them the butt of every joke, but he's never really criticized them. And Dave's an honest guy who WILL say something sucks if he truly thinks it sucks.

Yeah I know they were artist in the category that is rock , but I'm saying they should just do a category where it's all rock that way I feel like its a real competition, but their choices are predictable anyways, instead of choosing something that maybe uniquely beautiful they always choose the one that's popular. It's like musical high school or something. That's why I cant really rate the grammy's.

 

And I was poking fun with the Dave thing I know he doesn't hate them. He just honest like that like Noel Fielding. :laugh3:

Did El Camino sell over 8 million albums?

Did El Camino go to #1 in over 30 countries?

I mean I love The Black Keys but did they REALLY deserve best rock album? El Camino didnt have half as much success as Mylo Xyloto!

^ It's not the best selling rock album category, it's the best album category, so it's not because MX sold more that it deserved it more than El Camino. I am not saying that I prefer El Camino to MX or anything like that, btw.
