I'm surprised that Princess of China didn't get nominated.

Ok, I don't wanna be negative, but... It won't win best rock album... not against The 2nd Law (I prefer MX but...). Maybe Charlie Wins :)

It's cool that they're nominated, but honestly I doubt they'll win anything :|

First, too much competition in the Rock Album category. Then, for the Rock performance...well, I see Charlie less a rock song than any of those nominated, and apart from the mindblowing live experience that is CB, I personally find Lonely Boy just as good, so...:| Also, Springsteen is nominated.

Yeah, to me it feels like they got nominated because The Grammys people felt they "had" to, and, with 2 nominations, they may perform...

Band up for Best Rock Album and Best Rock Performance

 

Good morning. We're very pleased to report that Coldplay have been nominated for two awards at the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards. The band are up for Best Rock Album for Mylo Xyloto and Best Rock Performance for Charlie Brown. This takes Coldplay's total career GRAMMY nominations to 26. Mylo Xyloto co-producer Markus Dravs is also up for Producer of the Year.

 

The winners will be announced at the ceremony on 10 February 2013.

There's no Band of the Year award at the Grammys, so it would have been hard for Coldplay to be nominated in that category :lol:

I didn’t know, sorry. It’s weird by the way. Here in France, there’s always a Band of the Year Award (for the NRJ music awards and the Victoires de la musique). Just checked the Grammys awards and now I better understand why they only got 2 nominations. But the guys got so many in 2008 that it’s a bit disappointing after such an epic year.

I think that if Coldplay had started their career as a pop band, if their 3 first albums were definitely pop, then CB would have been nominated in the Pop category. But Coldplay started a rock band. Now it's pretty hard to define exactly what genre Coldplay are atm, so I guess they went for the easiest solution.

I would be very, very surprise if they won any of their nominations. Lol.
