I don't know what the relation between the Scientist and Lips Like Sugar is to be honest, but I tried to indicate an echo as a clue. Given that Echo and the Bunnymen frontman Ian McCulloch actually listened to AROBTTH with Chris and critiqued and helped shape it (like I heard), some lines in Crests of Waves are almost certainly a nod to the last track on their 4th album (Ocean Rain). Not only - beaten down by this ocean rain - but also the similarity in the lines Screaming out from the crest of waves (CP)/ Screaming from beneath the waves (EATBM). Your turn ! :)
