Frontman Chris Martin will accept on behalf of the band and perform "Atlas" during the awards ceremony.

For their hit song "Atlas" on the soundtrack to the film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the multi-platinum and multiple Grammy-winning band Coldplay -- composed of Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Will Champion and Jonny Buckland -- will receive this year's Hollywood Song Award at the 17th annual Hollywood Film Awards, the first awards show of the 2013 season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Martin will accept on behalf of the group and perform the song at the gala ceremony on Oct. 21 at the Beverly Hilton.

The song, which was released in September, reached No. 1 on iTunes in 43 different countries. The entire soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will be released by Lionsgate and Republic Records on Nov. 19, 2013, and the film will open worldwide on Nov. 22, 2013.

The Hollywood Film Awards are determined by founder and executive director Carlos de Abreu and an advisory committee. De Abreu tells THR, "The Hollywood Film Awards is thrilled to present the Hollywood Song Award to a band as globally respected and prolific as Coldplay. They continue to build their legacy and, with ‘Atlas’ marking the first time they have recorded for a motion picture, we cannot think of an artist better deserving of this

Woohoo a live performance!:D

AWESOME!!!!!! :awesome:

I'm guessing that if it's only Chris performing, we'll have some sort of acoustic performance of the song...interesting!!!!

I will miss the orchestration on this song, it's so beautiful!

I hope just the piano doesn't take away the powerfullness but still, can't complain about a live performance!

:awesome: :awesome: Can't wait to see it!

Congrats! Well deserved! I'm very excited to hear this live, even though only Chris will perform it. Would like to see and hear all four of them :)

So does anyone know when it will actually be performed?

And will it be aired on tv? (I live in Australia)

wohooo a live performance after decades

Very well deserved. The song is brilliant, the more I listen. Haven't heard it on the radio in Los Angeles, yet. Can't wait for the performance. Very exciting!! :awesome:

I haven't heard it on the radio in LA either! It's frustrating, I listen to KROQ, the station that really began playing Coldplay in the US back when they started. They're not playing Atlas--I wonder if it's too "pretty."

Well deserved. It's a beautifull song! To bad it won't be at LP6!

Does anyone know if there will be a live stream of the evening?

so apparently there will be a live web feed of the red carpet. chances of chris being there are slim i guess. but at least we'll see the acceptance speech according to the report. no word on the performance though.

Hope for a live stream and if Chris is performing alone. He may play the piano or play with recorded track music. Can't wait!! It's their first song ever recorded for a movie and maybe they will get nominated for other awards for best song. It needs to be played on the radio though, don't understand why it isn't.

It's almost Monday!!!!

:dazzled:

Can't wait till tomorrow :D

Obviously would prefer it if all four of members of the band were performing it, but I'm sure Chris will still produce a beautiful live performance :)
