What an awesome gig! I got there at 1pm and ended up on the 2nd row... I'd have probably ended up a bit closer if I hadn't have taken a bag with me that had to be searched. The fans outside were all very friendly, very chatty and very excited to see the guys.. I love how the event brought people from all around the world to one place to listen to their favourite band. Rizzle Kicks were there to provide a bump to get things going, they were not bad nor amazingly good, just enjoyable for me. Dynamo confused me, he was great, Chris and Will watched from the sides! Chris clocked on that people were looking at him rather than the show and tried to deflect attention by pointing at Dynamo. David Brent was pleasant, I've never really been a "fan" of his stuff before but his lyrics were cheesy-cheerful.

Lily Allen was warmly welcomed, to say she hadn't performed in a while she did look shy but did a great job. Her & Chris singing The Fear was lovely & when she brought out Robbie Williams there was a massive screech from the fans! It really was an OMG moment. Robbie, as always provided good entertainment.

Then when it came round to the guys performing, I was expecting a similar setlist to Monday night's pub gig but I was proved wrong as they went from Clocks straight into Charlie Brown. The place was really rocking!

Atlas' full live debut was ok in my opinion, although I love the track, and what Jonny was doing (creating a haunted atmosphere) his guitar was too loud for me and it seemed to drown out the big moments of the track, I couldn't hear any bass.

Paradise was great as always. I laughed as people shouted "OK LETS GO" before the big drop... Chris mixed the lyrics up in the verses but nobody was too bothered.

At the start of ETIAW Chris messed up the lyrics and ended up singing "mayayayaa" with his eyeballs popping out of his head for a split second. Even later in the track he seemed to forget the lyrics and Will backed him up. Nonetheless, energy was high and was as enjoyable as ever.

Even though the set was shorter than normal, you didn't feel disappointed or ripped off by the cost of the tickets, travel and whatever else. It was great to be there for their only commercial gig of the year.

I have some pics on Facebook, I've made it public so you all can view :) - https://www.facebook.com/ianswinton/media_set?set=a.10151952457684864.1073741826.721369863&type=1

But incase you don't want to look at all of them, here's just a few of the best ones (they are really big imgs):

Yes, me too. It’s so interesting seeing shows in between eras! Tried to get tickets but failed. It was the last show they ever used the old Yamaha piano used between ARBOTTH and MX eras. ?

Do you have original footage of the entire Eventime Appollo show in 2013 @stephen, like this performance of Christmas Lights? Does it even exist? I would love to see more of this show in such good qua

I am also back home in the States. Whew. What an amazing experience, and like others, I'm still trying to wrap my brain around it.

I got there around 6 a.m. with a few others, and it was a long day that paid off in front row, so to say I was thrilled would be the understatement of the century. What a fantastic show. Utterly unreal experience to be there, to be so close and to be surrounded by so many excited and friendly people.

THANKS so much to everyone surrounding me in the queue outside throughout the long day. We shared a lot and laughed a lot and kept warm looking like baked potatoes, but it was so worth it. (Row was a master finding space blankets...) And also thanks to those surrounding me at the concert as well. Coldplay have a great group of people as fans. It's amazingly unreal to be able to gather a group of individuals from so many places all around the globe who share a passion. It was fantastic meeting you and an honor to share this experience with you!

And thank you, thank you to everyone who have posted pictures. Like Wisna, my pictures didn't turn out the best, and I'm not sure I have much to add to the wonderful reviews. The experience was breathtaking.

Merry Christmas everyone!

I stayed overnight and travelled back to Liverpool the following day - head still in a whirl ! The rest of the concert did nothing for me at all - I only went to see CP - nothing else needed when they're around. Although the Robbie appearance certainly was exciting and brought a massive ROAR from the audience which made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end !! I was right at the end of the front row in the balcony and it was great to watch all the standing fans down below - so well behaved - not a push or shove anywhere ! My one 'gripe' was the 'After Show party' that was included in the high price of my tickets - what party ? - there was access to the Circle Bar and that was it ! Disappointing - I'd actually thought the boys might have made a brief appearance - foolish me. Delighted with my signed poster, though - that will be treasured. ALSO I followed the instructions on You Tube to get the Zylobands working again - you can have them on constantly or turn them on just by pressing them - Wonderful - relive the concert over again. I didn't expect to get the bands at this gig so that was a brilliant surprise. Thank you CP for making me feel like a teenager again !

How many CP fans' friends and relatives thought the collapsed ceiling in the

Apollo THEATRE was in the 'Hammersmith Apollo' ? Those poor folk - hope everyone's OK now.

Hallo there!

Finally at home and trying to take it all in.

The gig was amazing, from the all-day queuing until the last bow. Just perfect!

I'm afraid I'm not able to write a lengthy review and I probably wouldn't add anything new to what's already been written.

Even my pictures are useless as I had a very crappy camera, but there were many amazing photographers around me, so there was no point in trying. I only made some very blurry pics to catch the atmosphere, I'll add them to my sig.

I was so happy to meet all the other coldplayers in the queue, some of which I've met before in Liverpool and some for the first time, and hopefully not the last time. It was a real pleasure to spend the time and share the experience with you. As Chris says, Coldplay really have the best fans in the world!

Thank you to everyone, who was taking pictures and videos and made it even more memorable and available to people who could not have been there!

I love the fact that the crowd was so diverse, in terms of countries we came from and also age groups. It shows really well how Coldplay's music speaks to many different people.

The only trouble is that it's highly addictive and already now, a few days after, I can't wait for the next gig! :D

I hope everyone had a safe journey home! And Merry Christmas!

See you soon! :wacky:

It was truly lovely to meet you Wisna. Like Sharon I love that there are SO many wonderful Coldplay fans from all over the world, and having the chance to meet with so many of you.

It was amazing.

I agree 100% with all of this. Meeting everyone is as much a part of the fun as being in the gig!

Merry Christmas! :D

Great article, photos, and video!

Funny you should make that comment about Jonny's guitar being especially present - I noticed on Clocks and Paradise, Jonny did a couple extra things [though the fact that he was using a Telecaster instead of Strat on Paradise prevented him from making the solo extra-good as it was in the MX era]. Atlas was clearly a fun time for Jonny - slide and ebow, a combo we haven't seen since, you named it, See You Soon. In particular though, Jonny played electric on Christmas Lights where previously he played acoustic guitar. Hence, he really shined through on the solo near the end of the song as well as throughout - and I noticed this because after hearing the last few live versions, I would always think to myself "I wish Jonny would play the electric on this so we could hear that damn solo!" And indeed - he started playing the solo in the 2011 rendition of the song, but still on acoustic. So he kind of granted my wish here by playing it on electric.

That's my long Jonny rant for the day. :)

Thanks for the info - much of it new to me.

I noticed that Jonny was doing things I hadn't noticed him doing before. Thank you for the technical details. :)

And a MERRY Christmas to you and your dear ones. :santa3:

Thank you for all your reviews and pictures.

And a special thank you to Jason de-Bord for the very detailed review of the entire event and pictures in his blog.

I am glad that you all had a wonderful time before, during and after the concert. As Chris says: Coldplay have the best fans in the world.

My poor husband. He had a moment where his heart nearly stopped! :shocked2: I do hope everyone at that theatre got out OK. Terrible.

Jaja thanks to those who thought what I had to say was remotely interesting.

Oh no I hope he's doing alright. :( My girlfriend and her entire family were right under but they're all okay save for her father who's got some fractured ribs and vertebrae. The stupidity of it - I was teasing her for not getting tickets to this gig since it's right near her neighbourhood. Later that night she tells me: "I wish I went to the other Apollo."

Ok as promised some photos Sharon, Annette and myself took.

Oh my goodness! So scary for you! I do hope everyone is OK. My husband was fine, once he thought to google it and found out it was ANOTHER Apollo. But thanks. ;)

Wow. I am so glad that everyone is okay, and I hope her father gets well very soon. It definitely scared a few people on my end as well. So scary.

Did anyone else think there was a bit of an awkward silence after Chris mentioned being in the studio for a year or was that just me?

Obviously it wasn't deadly silent but nobody said anything or wooped

He said something like that it was good being back on stage after spending a year in the studio.

I bet they can't wait to go back on the road to play the new songs

I can't wait either :wacky:
