Okay, so the Grammy Nominations came out today, and Coldplay is up for two awards. They are:

1. Best Song Written For Visual Media- Atlas

2. Best Music Film- Live 2012

 

I believe the Grammys are next January 26th. So, how many of the Grammys do you think they'll win?

I could see them giving it to Adele... they love Adele. Or maybe even Lana Del Rey... but the Hunger Games is the biggest movie on that list right now (skyfall is over a year old) so maybe the exposure will push Coldplay over the top.

 

as far as music film i think they have a really good chance of winning that one (xylobands!) unles they still want to show some leftover 2012 Mumford love or give it to Paul McCartney because he is Paul McCartney.

You don't put Adele and Coldplay together ... I mean the Grammy people will trip on their asses to give her the award, (ps. She even got an oscar for it). Poor Coldplay! They put out a really good song and deserve recognition!

Thought I haven't seen Live 2012 yet, yet Atlas is such a great song and a perfect movie track.

I think there's a strong probability they don't get any Grammy. Maybe one? Certainly not Atlas, as the competition is way too hard (either Adele or Lana will get it, I guess), but Live 2012 was very well received by the critics, so I think they may have a chance there.

ood morning. We're very pleased to report that Coldplay have been nominated for two Grammy Awards. Atlas - created for the soundtrack of the new The Hunger Games: Catching Fire film - has been nominated for Best Song Written For Visual Media at The Grammy Awards. And the band's Live 2012 concert film has been nominated for Best Music Film. The winners will be announced at the ceremony on 26 January 2014 in Los Angeles. Coldplay have now received a total of 27 Grammy nominations, winning 7 awards.

Atlas won't win but Live 2012 makes a chance I think

I was sure of ATLAS until I saw that it is up against Adele and Skyfall. Their chance here should be that ATLAS is relatively new compared to Skyfall.

 

I fear that the result is 0. :(

 

I hope that they get at least 1 of course, but realistic guess is 0.

I am afraid they won't get the Grammy for Best Song for Visual Media. Competition is to good. Skyfall....

 

I am surprised they don't talk about Best Music Film. I think their chances are bigger to win that Grammy.

Hunger Games is a massive commodity these days, so that gives 'Atlas' a little bit of a lift, but yes, unfortunately for CP, they loooooove to give Adele (man, I got so sick of her) awards. :cry: But I'm hoping that CP, who did have the #1 tour that year and did win 'Best Live Act' here and there, will have a chance at the live DVD. *crossing fingers, toes and everything else.

I think they have a shot in the Music Film category, but it could go either way.

Thank god I'm not the one that has to decide who wins because I wouldn't be able to choose between Live 2012 and Road to Red Rocks :bomb:

I think Live 2012 has a pretty good chance to win.

Skyfall is a very average song. If it wasn't sung by Adele, we would never hear it. It doesnt even deserve that Oscar and the song has nothing to do with the movie besides the title.

:lol: That's very true! I have huge respect and admiration for her but its just getting a bit too much. Thank god her new album isn't released anytime soon. I can't handle any more Adele!

I don't think they would attend at all. These 2 award presentations are probably not broadcast and chances of them performing we can argue are none. Also remember that they didn't attend even though they had a couple of nominations this year.

 

Regarding Live 2012, I think Coldplay are not credited in the award even though it is their movie. So even if they win it, I don't think it would necessarily be a 'coldplay' win..

Nonetheless this is exciting, especially since it was mostly an "off year" for the band.

^ of course! don't take me wrong.. I am looking forward to the academy awards nominations. if atlas does get nominated, the chances of them performing there would be pretty good I think. considering usually they have multiple musical performances in the oscars.

I agree. They're only credited for one of these awards, for which they have very few (almost none) chance of winning. So I don't see them showing up at the ceremony and going through all the fuss.

 

But yeah it's really cool they got nominated. It's quite impressive how they manage to get one or several nominations in quite "important" awards without necessarily releasing something major.

Maybe Chris will be there. He is living in LA and one if his best friends, Jay-Z, is nominated for 7 (!) Grammy's. But i also think there won't be a performance...

You're right seeing as the chances are very slim they certainly wont attend at all. Well I guess I just miss seeing them :( Feels like they've been gone forever. Plus they haven't released a single picture of all four of them working in the studio.
