What can we do to save the forum?

Featured Replies

it's $10.000 right? If everyone donates $10-50? Don't know i would be prepared to donate some money to keep this.

But you have to pay a monthly fee to keep this place running. and most people are too greedy to fo that.

then just kick all those people who don't want to pay out? it may sound rude but heavy times like this are asking for drastic measures. Specially now when there's a new era to start. Good point to do some big changes.

I just got no idea what to say or do...

This is just unreal, I can't believe coldplaying is being closed. Where did they even announce that?

Okay so in terms of saving entire threads, there's a possible solution, but unfortunately only the owner of this forum can help us with that.

It's a function where users can save entire threads as PDFs, it's just an advanced function of the "Thread Tools/Show Printable Version"

This is me too. It's not greed keeping me from doing anything. I can hardly feed myself much of the time.

But I would pay a monthly subscription fee if necessary.

How much memory to save a 3000 page thread that includes a crapload of pictures?

I guess the biggest problem is not the money but work the site needs. You need someone who knows how something big like this works and who is willing and able to invest a lot of time to keep this running. Not entirely sure how much work it requires to run a site like this but i guess it's hard to accomplish when you have a full-time job, a family, go to school or basically have any life or hobbys besides this site.

^i can't even pay that, i still live under my parents roof and using their money

Damn. That sucks. They wouldn't give you a few bucks a month for it if they understand how much it means to you, I guess?

About 2-3 GB maybe. Depends of the size/quality of the pictures. If you're talking about a certain thread, I'd say around 3 GB, since most of the earlier pictures are already deleted.

i can't, it's wasted money for them, i'm not allowed to buy things on the internet when "i can get them for free" i can't even imagine what they would say if i asked them to pay for a forum

Yup, I posted the link to that plugin thing weeks ago. Right now the only thing we can do is do it page per page but that takes days

Ok. Can it be done with a tablet?

Yes, I was partially talking about a *certain* thread, lol. But I was also asking in general.

if you save threads as pdf's is it gonna be possible to make it as a thread again?
Maybe. And if so, it would take ages. But still, it wouldn't be lost.

You need a team. Doing it alone with ten thousands of registered members is a little bit extreme. But yeah, all you need is $$$ to keep this site running.

You could make a team of it? Doing all the work on your own is inhuman but split the things out in a team.

Damn. Sorry to hear that.:(

You need money to keep it online but i guess it needs maintenance and every day work to keep it as good as it is right now. Obviously doing it alone is probably a bad idea.

*cough*

I'd really want to try out that tool again that Rafael posted, but I guess I'll be kicked out if I try ahaha :sweatdrop:

I don't even have a tablet :freak: I don't know, maybe it is if you're a Pro at using that thing.

Okay, for example, my Coldplay picture folder with 8.990 pictures in it is 3,39 GB big. Do the math.

Yes, everytime you neglect it it could be overrun by viagra spam attacks or these penis enlarger trolls

maybe the guy that's going to buy it is going to keep coldplayig? i don't even know if anyone is going to buy it

It doesn't look like anyone's buying it.

Alright folks, I'm off now, maybe I'll think of something intelligent by tomorrow, but there aren't much options left that don't involve money :shifty:

Good luck finding another solution!
