beastwars
It's time for charts, folks! :D I recall the rule from the previous poll: 1) Make a ranked list of your 5 to 25 top original studio albums released this year and post it in this thread. After the deadline, there will be a countdown of Coldplaying's favourite new albums. 2) Make a ranked list of your 5 to 25 top songs released this year and post it in this thread. The deadline is Sunday, 20th December at 23:59 GMT 3) Original studio albums only, please. No EPs, live albums, reissues, or compilation albums. Cover albums allowed. Soundtracks must be primarily original material. 4) A list must have at least 5 albums to count. You may list up to 25 albums/songs. Lists must be ranked by the deadline. Unranked lists will be fed to the forum goat. 5) Albums must have been originally released between December 1st 2014 and December 1st 2015. The original release date is the first official release date in the US or UK, whichever is first. International-only releases go by the first official release date worldwide. 6) Songs must have been originally released between December 1st 2014 and December 1st 2015, either as a standalone single or part of an album. 7) You may edit your list at any time up to the deadline. Post your tentative lists here and I will post a link to it in the second post. The list I link to will be the list I count, so make sure you edit your original list or let me know if you post a new one. If you want to vote for both Album and Song of the year, can you keep both lists on the same post 8) You can vote for just albums of the year or just songs of the year, or vote for both, it's upto you Please number your albums and write the artist name before the album name. For example, #1. Radiohead - In Rainbows (This will save eons of time and will help you find out the results much sooner. Thanks.) Extra rules: 1) For particular strange cases (you never know what you might find :D ) we'll decide together what to do. 2) Our Scoring System Rank - Points: 1 - 500 2 - 425 3 - 375 4 - 325 5 - 300 6 - 275 7 - 250 8 - 230 9 - 210 10 - 200 11 - 190 12 - 180 13 - 170 14 - 160 15 - 150 16 - 145 17 - 140 18 - 135 19 - 130 20 - 125 21 - 120 22 - 115 23 - 110 24 - 105 25 - 100 3) Tell me If I forgot something 4) HAVE FUN! Nikola
Why is the deadline December 13th? Why not the 20th if everyone agrees? We'll have more than enough time to count the votes till the end of the year... Rolling Stone and NME posted their album and song of the year lists: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/50-best-albums-of-2015-20151201 http://www.rollingstone.com/music/lists/50-best-songs-of-2015-20151203 http://www.nme.com/photos/nme-s-albums-of-the-year-2015/394320 http://www.nme.com/photos/nme-s-tracks-of-the-year-2015/394334

Nikola
Coldplay- A Head Full Of Dreams Coldplay are ineligible. The cut-off date is December 1st. They are generally forbidden in the music section I think so that they don't hog the #1 every time they release an album. http://www.metacritic.com/feature/critics-pick-top-10-best-albums-of-2015 Kendrick is dominating this year's polls as expected. atlas2000
Villagers - Darling Arithmetic, read into the background of it... The singer recorded all of it in his house by himself, the themes of the songs deal with bigotry and homophobia and it was released around the time of the Marriage Equality referendum in Ireland... it also sounds great on (Gold) Vinyl

They are generally forbidden in the music section I think so that they don't hog the #1 every time they release an album. My memory is super hazy, but I remember Coldplay would've won in 2008 if they didn't discount the votes yet MX wouldn't have even won in 2011. Yeah I figured out later that they're are ineligible for the Coldplaying Awards but you can vote for them here. For the AOAL single, not for the album because of the deadline. Nikola
To Pimp A Butterfly is overrated. I'd probably dig it a lot more if I weren't so goddamn white. I love Kendrick, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City is one of my top 50 albums of all time, I think it's a good deal better than TPAB. It is the best album of the year tho but not by such a landslide. I appreciate the Prince and Outkast influences I recognize in it but I bet the biggest influence sonically was the movie Whiplash: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZTYgq4EoRohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4noaE0CdZUw
