If you dislike the album, will you still see the world tour?

Featured Replies

I find this album to be the band's most uninteresting album yet...there I said it. Everyone has one they don't LOVE, surely. This one just happens to be it and trust me, I love all of the others from Parachutes to Ghost Stories. And I do like a few songs on this one, just not the whole thing overall.

The question is - if you are like me and don't like the album as a whole, will you still see the AHFOD world tour?

I will for sure see it, and probably see multiple shows. They are some of the best performers in the world, they play tons of songs we all love, and of course the best way to witness new music is in person when the band is performing it. Maybe some of the tracks will grow on me if I see them live.

I believe no matter your opinion on Coldplay's recent output, a Coldplay show will always be the hottest ticket in town.

And the most expensive tickets I will ever get, according to my pocket [emoji38]

No. I've seen them 6 times in total since 2002 but I've lost interest in seeing them live now. The new album bores me and I can just imagine the multicoloured stadium shows full of artificial sounds, Chris jumping around and silly synth sounds.I'll be giving this tour a miss.

No because I've already seen them live. I have this rule that I don't attend the same live twice...

Not again I'm afraid. I enjoy going to rock concerts and therefore I won't be paying to watch Coldplay; for now. Unless they drastically change their set-lists or come out with an album again that I find worth watching live.

If had already seen them once I would certainly avoid the AHFOD tour because I dislike the current album (and their last three in general, which will make up a large part of the setlist).

Unfortunately I have never seen them live so I bought tickets just in case, although in my case I will probably not be able to attend because of a schedule clash...

No doubt, even if I don't like the new album with the fervor I have for some of the others, Coldplay is still such an integral part of my life and memories, I couldn't pass up the chance for anything.

Sorry to hear that ! :/ Hope you can catch another date perhaps. Their live shows are totally worth it. I once took someone who was not even a fan, but enjoyed the concert immensely. Also if you place yourself around the B-stage you´ll likely have an extra special experience as they usually place the acoustic set there :)

This is so true! I have often been to live shows of bands or artists I was really not keen on, but during the concert I enjoyed their songs 10 times more! There is something about live music that just elevates the whole experience for the listener. Almost always worth it imo. Heck I´d even see a jazz concert and I dont even like jazz LOL But of course one must prioritise the expenses and concerts are not free :/

Yeah, this tour is not gonna be it... Looks like I'm gonna be in the US when Coldplay do the European tour and in Europe during their North American leg...

Haha that totally sucks! I tried that TWICE with Lana Del Rey. I have yet to date to see any live shows with her because I was always in the wrong continent lol

Do we know when the N A tour will be yet, or just guessing? I Ran Away I hope your schedule changes. Saw them live during MX and it was beyond what I could have dreamed. Sat right by the side over where the roadies and sound production were and that was its own show!

Just guessing at the moment, but surely it will begin in the second half of 2016.

My best bet is still Summer 2016, because they play Australia in the Fall

Is that already confirmed ? If not, wouldn't it make more sense to play Australia in the winter ?

I think the Australia in the Fall has been confirmed yes. Cant remember which interview that was in though :/

Nope, never seen them live but looks like that ship has sailed.

Depends on how the setlists are looking

Exactly! I've seen shows from bands I disliked the studio stuff, but they are exceptional live performers and make the songs truly come alive. Also, I've seen a few of the opposite...good studio material but not good live.

I'm not crazy about AHFOD but I'm still going to the 3 Mexico City dates, seeing them live is always a great experience and, having missed the MX tour, I have to make up for that, I want to see a stadium full of Xylobands, I want to hear Charlie Brown live and jump to it, I want to be showered by confetti during ASFOS and sing along to Up&Up and Everglow, I want to hear Birds live... :)

Personally, except for Mylo Xyloto (I love that album), their new albums have been very 6-7/10 to me. Some songs are amazing and some are just great catchy tunes, though most of them just don't have that certain magic and emotion that I can just feel and connect with like Viva. I like new Coldplay a lot, but just not as much as "Oldplay." BUT I've seen them on every tour since Viva and I swear that when I'm standing there and they're play anything whether I love it or not on the records, all of the magic is there again. When I see Coldplay live it's really "them"; the same band I fell in love with. For their recent records, there is just so much more feeling in their performances than in the studio tracks.

I dont dislike the album and I'm not even going to one of the shows. Sad for being so far away from Europe. I could only wish to dream about a concert right now. Hopefully they will come to Asia this year.

I love AHFOD (though would put it behind MX/VLV) and would love to see the tour. I've never seen Coldplay live yet. </3

For those of you who think they don't like the album, I will say that the guitar seems to be a bit louder! Just look at the comments on Everglow at Belasco Theater. Same thing with the title track. The guitar at the end of HFTW is absolutely cutting in the live version. And Up&Up is fantastically epic. I mean by all means do what you want and make the tickets more available for me ;) but I do think the last few albums have had a pattern of live-being-better so don't lose hope yet!

....Amazing Day is kinda weak live though. :(
