If we're doing what Nie said, I think we should have another thread where we come up with lyrics and post them, so we can decide who's to use or mix and match them to make them even better:)

Maybe this is a little too ambitious at such a short notice but why don't we make up a new verse?

Something about looking forward to the tour, wishing them good luck...

A few good singers can sing that and the rest of us can sing the original chorus?

I love that idea!

For lyrics right?

Yes, that's the idea.

What about this line:

Pick up your guitar and play on it again

Yes, that's the idea.

Haha I love it:D But I don't know how specific the lyrics should be, if it's too literal it could almost come of as a parody:)

remembering the lyrics and how to entertain :D

That's a risk that we take ;)

Hello Coldplayers!

I've been thinking that we Coldplayers could do a small little project, which (if it turns out nice) we could send to Coldplay as a greeting before they start their tour. (Yes, that means by the end of this month)

It's a little ambitious, but I was thinking that we could all record ourselves (individually) singing a chorus of a Coldplay song, and I'll put it all together and add some instrumentation and send it. It'll only be around 20 to 30 seconds long; and those of you who are worried that you can't sing, worry not! I've got a little pitch correction tool :P

I'll send across a reference track with a click and reference vocals so that you can sing along (but remember to listen to the reference track with headphones/earphones while recording, otherwise that'll get captured in the recording as well!). You can record your vocals even on a phone and send it (if you've got a phone that's got a good voice capture quality, great! If you've got one of those computer headphones plus mic headset, brilliant! If you've got a mic, even better! If you've got a condenser mic with a pop filter, you need to stop showing off; but use it :P ), but try and find as quiet and small a place as possible, to avoid any disturbances and room reverbs.

So I was thinking we could try the chorus of Up and Up, seeing that it's relevant, and easy. But I'd rather we have a poll to decide the song.

So let me know what you guys think. Whether we can try it, or if it is a bad idea, and also if you'd like to suggest some changes.

Hope this happens and works!

(Sorry for making this lengthy and filled with interruptions in brackets. #irony [or wait, is it?] )

Suhit.

EDIT:

The poll's been put up. Its got a list of songs that are comparatively easy to sing, and which would also sound good in unison. If anybody would like to add another song to the poll, do let me know!

IM IN!!!!!!! I LOVE the idea!!!!

I love singing, I'm so in [emoji4] but how do we record it? Does it need to be like studio mic quality or iPhone quality or what? [emoji16] like how do I know if it sounds good enough

Thanks for joining in!

It doesn't have to be studio mic quality; you can record your voice with your phone, as long as there are no disturbances and preferably in a small place, so that there isn't too much reverb.

YEAH BABY i'm doing harmonies too!

I was wondering if we can make it longer, perhaps sing a verse AND a chorus? One minute seems kinda short, idk. Perhaps first verse and chorus. Or the chorus twice at the end, with the Oh-Oh-Ohs.

I really wanted to do that at the beginning actually, but I think we don't have enough time to pull that off; seeing that we have less than 12 days to record, produce, mix and master perhaps 20+ singers and instrumentation, I wanted to do something that'll be short and sweet. Also, the longer we make it, I think there's a lesser chance that Coldplay HQ will listen to it, as they must be incredibly busy leading up to the tour.

But I absolutely love the idea of making our own verse and pairing it up with the up & up chorus. If I do finish the chorus part well before time, I promise we'll give the verse a shot too; if not, I would love to continue working on it after we've posted only the chorus to Coldplay HQ as well!

So, when are we going to record our voice?

So, when are we going to record our voice?

ASAP?:)

We need to know EXACTLY what part of the song we're singing to. Is it the chorus first time? The middle one? Or the chorus twice at the end?

I'm singing all 3. Maybe even 4.

I don't see the point of submitting the full song lol. More work for Suhit.

I don't see how submittong more voices is a bad thing? Am I missing something?

I think I misunderstood. I thought you meant you would sing the chorus the first time around, and the second time around (as far as the song goes), and then the third time.

I'm assuming that chorus#1 is slightly different from chorus#2 and chorus#3, which is why I wanted to know which one we should sing. (Anyway, if they are all identical, then we can disregard this.) But chorus#3 (you know, towards the end of the song) is sung twice, so I would prefer that one. I hope I make sense lol.

Ahh ok, that's not at all what I meant :) I was saying I was gonna do the harmonies, and yeah I get what you mean :D

Guys please lets agree on exactly which seconds we are going to sing before everyone does a different thing

Also, please everyone think of plugging in the actual song to your ear while doing it and keeping strictly to the time and rhythm, otherwise this is gonna sound awful when layered. Everybody needs to be synchronized

Lets do the last chorus right before the second guitar riff!

Yup, I was thinking of chorus 3, where it is repeated twice.

But @Rickulus, you can absolutely send 3 or 4 choruses. That's not too much of a problem, and more voices do make the chorus thicker which is good.

It looks like up and up is going to be the winner of the poll so I've already begun the instrumentation for it (there's a small mashup surprise in there ;) ).

I'll be posting a reference track either tonight or tomorrow along which all of you can sing. Please keep checking the first post of the thread for updates!

Yes yes yes, this is exactly what I'm concerned about. Thanks for saying it for such a dummy like me :wacky:

Edit: I would also like to add that if we will have a lot of people doing this, then we need not worry about the really minor lack of synchronicity. There can be teeny-tiny little jumbles to make it sound like a real chorus and not like a MIDI file. (I'm mostly talking to Suhit to not overedit here.)

I'll be checking it

Kamili maybe to include kids choir as well? that would be so so nice and beautiful

Oh no, that wouldn't go,believe me! I would be the happiest if it could work but no way :(

Wait, we were only doing 1 minute? :(

At first it was planned to sing 30 seconds so I suggested 1 minute, I also said we should do verse and then chorus but I don't know if we can arrange that because of number of people..

P.s. May be you could include your kids?? Because my kids are from my work and I don't have my own kids so there are a lot of reasons why I can't d that.
