karvi22
Hi guys! I'd like to know what do you really think of this album... personally I think is one of their best albums, their music inspires me in a magic way (call it magic, call it true... haha). It also came out in a tough moment of my life, maybe that's why it's so special for me. But I heard some people think is their worst album... what do you think about it? Norys
For me one of their best albums, the production is the best of this record. The lyrics are not as deep as VLVODAAHF or AROBTTH but them enter to your heart directly ! A lot of love for this, really, is my third fav of Coldplay. 1
Guest diogo_sg
I love all their albums equally, tbh. I simply can't choose (a) favourite (or favourites) one(s). They are all amazing in their own way. Ghost Stories was released two years after my parents' divorce and things were a bit troubled at the time. It was also then that I fell in love with the band (when Atlas was released), so GS does have a very special meaning to me too.
Gideon_Mx
I love this album. I think it's their best album if you look at what kind of theme it has. It's very emotional and kind of sad (in a good way). The songs are very dreamy, something I also like about it, except A Sky Full Of Stars, it's so powerful and full of happiness. So, I think this album is worth 3rd place if you would review them all.

I really loved their music before but I think it's transitioning very cleverly. A lot of bands wouldn't have done that but that's one of the reasons why I love them so.

And that's exactly what makes them Coldplay. For example, bands have given great music. But it looks like many bands can't change their music with a taste of a different genre, if that makes sense. But Coldplay can ! Compare Yellow with Clocks, Glass Of Water with Magic and another example, Hurts Like Heaven with Adventure Of A Lifetime. (In my opinion, it is this just unbelievable what they all did so far and what they have reached with this.)
coldplayisawesome
Ghost Stories is fantastic, but i don't listen to it often because most of the songs are kinda downers and i don't want to make myself feel sad :P

coldplayisawesome
Which song(s) is/are downer(s) to you? for sure Always in my Head, True Love, Another's Arms, Oceans, O... also All Your Friends and O (reprise) I listen to them sometimes individually (more so songs like Magic and Midnight), but rarely as a full album

karvi22
I agree with your opinions guys. I love Coldplay now as much as I loved them ten years ago. Their music progress but not become worst or better, just different, and that's something really cool. Last week I talked to a friend about this and we got to the same conclusion: when you think Coldplay has already reached the top, then another new album comes out to surprises us again. They never disappoint us because they are always changing, and they know how to do it. Despite the changes, they always know how to keep their spirit.

Xylobryte7
Ghost Stories is very underrated! Loved it when it first came out, and then grew tired of it but have started to like it again recently. I enjoy every album and don't compare them, just listen to them for what they are, makes listening to them more enjoyable.

shezza H
i LOVE ghost stories but don't listen to it often. it's because it makes me feel so....empty, especially oceans. love that song but can't bear to hear it more than once. maybe thats why i think that its a great album, it gives the feeling/message that it was designed to give. its hollow but beautiful.
alisbe
You'll find different opinions. Some said it has a Parachutes feeling, some said it is their worst album. It’s one of the albums that divided opinions and that's good because we all like different things. Personally, I love it. I can't say which is my favorite album each one is different. What I love about Ghost Stories is the way each songs is linked to the next. The message of inconditional love the band, and specially Chris, wanted to give was sent in such a emotional way. It was released in a moment of my life where I didn't have any hope about my future and this gives me hope that love exists even though it has a sad feeling when I listen to it. Moreover, I prefer to listen to it on its entirety instead of separated tracks. When I do so I have the feeling that something is missing, mainly when I listen to Oceans.
lennyrott1
For most of 2014, I really didn't love Ghost Stories: I thought the production was too modern pop and I disliked TL, ASFOS and I even felt O was a sub-par closer. But for some reason about a year after its release, I found myself listening to the album on repeat..not just individual songs..but the album. The songs flow so smoothly and every track is dreamy in its own way. I even found myself opened up to the energy of ASFOS, despite the dull songwriting, and the strange atmosphere of True Love, despite the unoriginal drumbeat and obnoxious vocals. I still think Coldplay made some frustrating production decisions on a lot of tracks (why is the e-bow on Oceans not like the live version???). I also wish they dived deeper in the dark ambience they teased the album with--it is a really poppy record after all. But I have come to accept the fun indie-pop vibes mixed with the more moody tracks. The band did a great job making a unique atmosphere for this album, and there is something addicting about it that is both uplifting and sad at the same time. Some days, it is my favorite Coldplay album, and other days I think it is right down at the bottom of the bucket with AHFOD. Just depends on your feels.
AMDB9
Ghost Stories is an excellent album even if it is not in my top 4!! Chris and co. poured so much emotion into every song that I can really connect to and relate to their feelings. Some dislike the album just because it says Copyright 2014 on the back, but it fits so well with much of Coldplay's earlier work. Tracks like Warning Sign, Sparks, See You Soon, etc could fit right in with the GS era! It took a while for some of GS's songs to grow on me, but I think watching Live 2014 gave me a better appreciation for the album and its songs.
LeftrightleftArchi
The album has its problems (lyrically anyway), but to me, this album is an instrumental masterpiece. I can even come to praise Avicii's production on ASFOS. The overall ambient and oldplayish atmosphere, I think, will be the closest we will ever get to the band that created Parachutes and AROBTTH. If only the lyrical content was just as good, then this album could have been one of their best. Cmon Chris, step up your writing game! alicjanna
I admire that Chris wasn't afraid of what people are going to say about how he showed his emotions in lyrics (or even though he was, he did it). I used to think that this album is their worst but now I can't imagine my life without this masterpiece. I especially love listening to it after a long day - it makes me feel so relaxed and calm... I just love it.
guy42
Just like AHFOD is Coldplay's "happy album," I think of Ghost Stories as their "sad album." You will appreciate GS if you are going through a tough time, as it will envelope you and enable you to feel and make sense of your emotions. Songs like Oceans and O Reprise force you to introspect and are good candidates for songs to meditate to. If you are heartbroken over someone you love, you may find that most songs will reflect what you are feeling (but they may also serve as love songs!). You don't have to be in a sad mood to appreciate this album either. It's summertime here which is generally a time to be excited and outgoing, yet I play this album because it's relaxing (AiMH, True Love, Another's Arms, Oceans, Fly On, O, All Your Friends) and upbeat (Magic, Ink, ASFOS, Ghost Story)! Midnight is definitely a unique-sounding Coldplay song. It, along with the rest of the tracks, are good songs for nighttime road trips. I'm really glad they decided to make such an outstanding album. Yes, it has an overall tone of despair, but that's exactly what makes it great.
EasySuperstition99
Ghost Stories was the first Coldplay album I was aware about close to release date and so it always will hold a special place in my heart. The lyrics though subpar on a lot of tracks are very great and emotionally provoking on tracks like Always in My Head, Fly On, Midnight, and Oceans. I also adore the atmosphere of the album and the soundscapes that were created during the creation of the album. To me the, in the music, there is almost never a dull moment, and I love that. But like I sort of touched on, not everything about Ghost Stories is great, even just pertaining to the music. So i'm actually deciding to create a Ghost Stories Remastered, inspired partly by Dexynboy's edits and SprayCanSoul's edits, but also by my love to create music. I'm gonna make a thread about it but I expect it to be ready in a few weeks so if you have a chance check it out. Ghost Stories is probably in my top 3-4 favorite Coldplay albums.
42Escapist
I just finished listening to Ghost Stories in full for the first time in a while, and I don't know why, but it just "clicked" for me more than it did in the past. I still find the lyrics a bit cheesy, and I am a bit annoyed by the lack of Will's real drums, but as the above poster stated, the atmosphere, emotion, and soundscapes are beautiful. Even True Love and Another's Arms don't sound all that bad, especially when Jonny's guitar solos come in later on. A Sky Full of Stars is still EDM-overload for me. The pieces of a great song are there, though; if it had the more rocking sound of the live versions that the band has been playing on the AHFOD tour, it would be much-improved.
