  • Finally a new album from the band! Haven't heard the full album yet, just the 3 pre-released songs and they're great.

There is a Snow Patrol in this bar here... On Saturday... Guess where Ill be? They will show Up To Now Dvd... :D :D :D

Must... not... watch... vids...

:bomb:

But just out of curiosity I checked out the setlist.

:o

This is going to be SOMETHING ELSE.

it is!!! & i'll bet the RAH shows will be a blast!!! :D

hope the CPers there tonite have fun!!! :D :D :D

you going to see them on this tour too, Bernard? cos i was also adamant to stay away from reading anything about the Brighton gig (tho i still did in the end :shame: ) or even see the setlist for Brighton until after the Bristol gig. heck, i didn't even want to look at the setlists sitting around on the AV soundboard before the gig started & it was just barely 3 rows away from me! :P

I like Snow Patrol, though having said that, I only own Final Straw and Eyes Open. I have read some positive stuff about their "Best Of" CD, in particular the fact that it includes a few non singles and that the band had a say in what was included. Many "Best Of" albums are compiled by the record company with little input from the band. Having said that, Snow Patrol have committed the cardinal sin as far as I am concerned. "Best Of" albums that include new songs are an absolute disgrace in my opinion. The reason I say this? Collectors apart, I regard "Best Of" albums as being for people who quite like a band but who don't like them enough (or don't have the finances) to collect all the albums by the band. Nothing wrong with that, as there is no problem in a band having 2 sorts of fans. In my own case I am not a massive fan of, for example, Bon Jovi (a bit cheesy), but I like a few of their singles and so I own Crossroad (one of their compilations). But if Coldplay or Muse were to release a "Best Of" with a new track or three, I would be seriously p*ssed off. And whilst in this digital age I could in theory download any potential new tracks at little cost, that's not the point. Anyway, rant over. :\

I managed to grab the setlist for the 2nd half of the Bristol show :)

I see your point.. I don't buy Best Ofs either when I already own all the studio albums. But Up To Now is really worth it I think, there are covers on it, new versions and live versions of songs, songs from the Reindeer Section, Signal Fire, which isn't on a studio album, well and the 3 new songs. And I often can't decide which album I want to listen to, so I can just put Up To Now in my cd player and get a bit from all of them :D

Thanks for the videos and the setlist :) Sounds really different... the 'ohhohh' from Chasing Cars is stuck in my head now :D

And they played Lifeboats! :stunned: I love that song.

Odds on a Live DVD/CD being made from the RAH shows?

@Kimmi- squuuueeeee!!! I'm so happy you had a great time and that you got to hear Planets! btw, I quite like the reworked version of that and chasing cars... thanks for posting the vids! Oh, and FANTASTIC pics of you and the guys! I'm jealous! :P

Welcome :nice:

I'd usually agree with what you said about Best of albums... I definitely rely on them for bands that I like but don't LOVE. BUT, in the case of Up to Now, I have to disagree. I've got the last 3 albums, but will still be buying Up to Now, since I don't have Songs for Polar Bears or When It's All Over We've Still Got to Clear Up or the Reindeer Section albums. I think that was their motivation behind Up to Now- they know many fans only really knew their work from Final Straw onward, and they wanted to make the older stuff more available. Plus, I think they've released it in enough different formats to appeal to any buyer... the really casual fan could just get the regular 2 disc CD, a bigger fan might get the Deluxe edition with the DVDs of new material, and the UBER FAN would get the awesome boxset. Plus, the new songs are really good. ;)

WOW. That's an awesome 2nd half! Lifeboats! Planets! ugh. I'm so jealous. Glad you had fun, Kite! and tell me pleeeeaseeee... did they play Engines at all??

Can't remember, all I remember that the Colston Hall sells nice ice-cream :P

you going to see them on this tour too, Bernard?

As I believe I've mentioned (:P), yes.

Can't waaaaaait!

Up To Now is on its way. It's somewhere at the moment, hopefully at my local post office in a nice package. Come on, delivery on a day off. :)

Just got back from RAH. Quality performance, 2.5 hour set (approx.), Gary on good form, giving out "hugs" during show.

Loved the covers of "Ray of Light" and Elbow, and the Reindeer Section track. Strings and horns a great addition. Got several vids, which might be good audio-wise if not visually, as I wasn't very close to the stage.;)

@Bernard: They indeed played "One day like this". It was EPIC!

Okay guys, as you can see, I'm back from my little trip to London and I'm still SO lost for words! Really, words just can't describe how great last night's gig was, it simply was out of this world! And I really mean that seriously! :)

The boys were in top form, constantly smiling, grinning and having a good time - one could really see and feel that! Especially Gary was so full of love, he literally had to share it with the audience and hugged several lucky people. Anna got most of the action between the songs captured (and took such stunning photos as well!), so I think you're all going to see that sooner or later... :) Unfortunately, 90% of my photos turned out crappy, but the videos seem to be quite okay, at least the sound (which was SUPERB in the RAH). :) I managed to get both setlists and I'll try to post them later. We also waited about 3 hours for the boys to come out and eventually met all of them except for Gary (:\). They were all just SO lovely and kind. :cheesy:

I guess that's all for now, I'm sorry. I just arrived at home and should unpack my stuff and so on... I'll try to write a proper review or at least post my few photos and videos, but that might take some time, so I can't promise anything at the moment... ;)

wow Elena, sounds you had a veeery good time!:D

im so happy for you:hug:

All the reports from the tour so far are saying the same thing: that everything's brilliant. :)

This won't be a 'Snow Patrol' gig in the sense of a normal set-up, but it may very well actually be one of the best gigs I have ever seen.

OH glad you had a great time... :D :D :D

 cool! did you get it from the AV guy in green?

i'd approached the AV guys for the setlist after the show & i was directed to the guy in green. he apologised & said that he'd already promised it off to someone else.

& i was wondering why in the world was there a big queue right along the middle aisle during the intermission...........until i realised that it was for ice cream. :dozey:

that good, huh? ;)

Odds on a Live DVD/CD being made from the RAH shows?

i hope so... *fingers crossed*

i've got shiet memory & it was easier to just ask than to look thru 266 pages of posts. ;)

look out for a huge brown pizza box shape-ish package in the postman's hands...

fair enough.

but if you see most of the interviews for/about Up To Now lately, the guys generally emphasise that it isn't meant to be a "Best Of" compilation...especially when the stuff from their early years don't quite qualify as hits in the first place & neither are the Reindeer Section stuff, tbh. so it's not really a run off the mill thing...

& i think right now the only other band that can do something like what SP have done is Elbow (then again, it seems like they are already doing something like that).

it's a bit harder for Coldplay to do a similar type of "looking back at our career" thing when their debut album already was their breakthrough hit album.

thank you again for the fingers crossing, Jen!!! :D

i'll return the favour one day for you too, for sure. ;)

& i know i've already said it, but i really love the new versions of those 2 songs too! that chant-y bit for Chasing Cars...*sigh* :wacky:

saw your video of One Day Like This...brilliant stuff! :D

& yay for you & Anna!!! your effort paid off!!!

was there a lot of people waiting also, like you were expecting?

a shame that you didn't get to meet Gary tho....guess it looks like we each missed out on 1 of the SP guys...he didn't come out at all?

Do you mean the video I posted on twitter? I'm afraid that's not mine. I've got one of the song as well, but let's just say the quality slightly differs from this one... ;) I'm going to post my videos later, I already started uploading. ;)

Thanks! :) Also thank you very much to everyone who crossed his fingers for us! :)

Well, as we waited like 3 hours all in all and the boys all came out at different times, the group of people waiting for them grew smaller and smaller as the time passed by. At the end with Nathan and Johnny being the last ones, I guess we were only about 6-10 people. After that, their manager and their security came out who told us that no band member was in the venue anymore and that Gary had already left straight after the gig since he's got to sing about 3 hours each night 3 days in a row (probably needed some rest and no "aftershowparty" like the other guys)... :\ Bless him, though.

I didn't have time to hang around afterwards, as I had to catch a train and had an early flight back today. However, as I was lucky enough to meet all the guys in Duesseldorf earlier this year, it wasn't necessary anyway.;)

Three hours sure sounds excessive, though!:stunned:

In Duesseldorf the wait was less than an hour, I'd say.

yeah, that's the one i saw. :)

look forward to your own vids!

& at least you got to meet the others...even if it took 3hrs in all (i know i wouldn't last that long)! hope it was nowhere as cold for you in London as it was in Bristol for me then. :\
