  1. Well, it's written on my CD with capital letters...? And Chris sings 'to Strawberry Swing' (with no 'the') which sounds more like a place name (or nickname) than a description of anything.
  2. Awesome tip thanks Glen - news to me!! :)
  3. 3/5 so far for me. Another finale where Captain Jack's only there so that Captain Jack is there, and that goes for most of the other characters too. No characterisation, little actual plot, and the Daleks coming out of nowhere to take over the universe. Davros was pretty good but otherwise this has a lot of ground to make up next week. :/
  4. He's a genius, right up there with John and (my huge fave) George. Chris Martin is our modern age version of Paul, I'm certain.
  5. If that is entirely your own work you're a quite simply a songwriting genius and all I can offer, yet again, is my previous encouragement :) And let me know how to vote when it comes up and I don't even need to listen to the other efforts, I'll be voting for you. Seriously, get your band members together and very well practised and you may very well win. You''ll kick yourself if you fail at the interview stage because your toes slip and you drop the tambourine, trust me!! Let us know how you get on :)
  6. I was the BBC gig and he sounded absolutely brilliant live (and the sound system there was top notch for such a small outside gig), but it plays back very badly on the broadcast for some reason. Chris was almost silent for the opening part of Violet Hill live, though, there was a problem with the mic or the levels I guess.
  7. Do you only get to play one song before the gig? If so you're in with a chance of opening with this number I'm pretty sure. Chris Martin would absolutely love this, may even be quite jealous! (is it all your own work, really???) If I were you I'd get really serious about this if you do want to win. Practice with the guys you'd be performing with as much as you can and try to get it really tight. It's also important to start seeing yourself as a real contender, rather than expecting it to go to some 'real' band (I recommend the first Rocky film for this lol). Have you thought about paying for studio time to record it properly? I would! :)
  8. I'm just listening to it now - it's brilliant!! Definitely submit it and I wouldn't be surprised if you won, honestly. Did you write and play this all by yourself? At home??

It's a beautiful thing that you can share with your love my friend, and thank you for sharing your happiness with us :) Coldplay's music is for me fundamentally all about love. A Message sums it all up perfectly. The pain it brings sometimes to feel so deeply, in Technicolor so to speak, as well as the incredible joys and highs. I try to share Coldplay with my friends and family - anyone I love and care about. I have no sweetheart at the moment, but I'm in no rush there - life's long and it will happen when it happens. Till then, it's just something else to look forward to!! :)
  10. I took a friend to see Prince at the O2 last September. We expected nothing more than to enjoy a few classic 'hits' and enjoy it, but I was so blown away, it was a mind-blowing gig, and turned me into a huge Prince fan on the spot. The guy plays guitar as well as Hendrix, is a virtuoso piano player, just incredible. I wa slowly working my way through his back catalogue until I got distracted recently, and had just laid my hands on Parade, which is an extraordinary album. Sometimes it Snows in April is one of the saddest, most haunting and yet uplifting songs ever. Truly one everyone should hear before they die... FixYou319, I don't suppose you have bootlegs of the shows from last September 12th or 19th? I had the brilliant quality boots from the shows I went to but my PC recently blew up and I've lost everything :(
  11. I'd settle for U2 :D
  12. I don't think we can ever find an exact meaning, all we can do is speculate. The problem in translating is that we don't know if Strawberry Swing is a particular swing in a park, or the name or nickname of a place (shop, restaurant etc etc). If it's a real place name like Violet Hill then you wouldn't need to translate it - why not go with that?
  13. Wonderful, thank you so much for posting that :) That's at least double the quality of what I have at the moment! My sis has the original broadcast on her Skybox, but we have no clue how to rip it...so this is great.
  14. Those are good, big record shops, but very commercial. For old vinyl and rarities I think you need more specialist shops. Hopefully someone in London can advise you, but I used to shop a lot at Sister Ray Records. It used to be in Soho but I'm not sure where it is now exactly: http://www.sisterray.co.uk/
  15. You're most welcome Elma :) Another thought - your email from Ticketmaster includes your booking reference I believe, and you can track the status of your tickets on their site. Ah, December seems so very far away - come on Santa hurry up!!
  16. Sylvia Nobel is Dave Ross??? Who'd have thunk it! :D
  17. Nice to make your acquaintance Nardos :) There's a different thread for the 15th gig, make sure you post on that one (this one's for the 16th) and you'll be more likely to meet a few nice people. See you on the fifteenth!!
  18. For anyone over thirty on the board - don't despair, today's alio's birthday. He or she must surely be our oldest member (??) at the ripe old age of 101 years old!! :)
  19. Welcome to the site Elma :) I don't have my tickets yet and as far as I know they won't be sent out until much nearer the gig, but perhaps someone else has some more exact information?

Oops I spelled it 'bienvenu' :( Zut alors! (is that right?) :)
  21. I don't think it's very tactful either for the owner of this site to tease a member here that he sat on four tickets for the gig just to keep as souvenirs. Ah well, at least our friend Politik* has got his ticket, hopefully (great work Ron :)) Politik*, where are you?????? :laugh3:
  22. Me too, really hope they play DaAHF live. Perhaps a final encore of that, then Fix You and Lovers in Japan is on the cards??
  23. Having seen it twice now I agree, it's an amazing opener! The slight drawback is that the song's so short, and they come on and play along only with the second part of it, so more or less as soon as they appear it's over! I'd really like them to come on, take a round of applause, and then go on to play the whole thing.
  24. The girl, quite simply, is nuts!
  25. The tour will be longer by four or five songs, one of them acoustic I think.
