what is the hardest jonny buckland guitar riff to play?
JONNY!!!!! :) ^ Yes, that riff is simple yet beautiful. :) I love playing it with a slide and roomfulls of reverb. Anyway, I say "Bigger Stronger" for the win! "Only Superstition" is a close second though. Sometimes simpler things are more musically appealing to the ear.... For example: On Brothers and Sisters [Trouble EP] version, Jonny has this simple riff at the beginning. But i couldn't get it out of my head for days. Likewise, In My Place has one of those simple/catchy riffs too. Well said Tnspieler1012, but hey I found a Jonny flub-up (a minor one though;)) At 1:57, lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHdVJZsXJRo Everyone makes mistakes though, we're only human.

Coldplay on American Idol! (itunes commercial)
Coldplay iTunes commercial question ^ Sweet vid. Call me a weirdo, but I was wondering... Why did the director of the iTunes commercial, Mark Romanek, switch Chris around? Notice how Chris' rings and colourful armbands are on his Right hand not his Left. Bit strange eh? :inquisitive:

Dont Panic Glastonbury 2000
Don't Panic Glastonbury 2000! Oooo I love this version and also miss when the guys were practically babies. LoL, love how Chris is 'steaming' literally at 1:42! :D Haha, yay! The monkey still lives!

live 42 question
42 Live - Jonny's Pedal Actually, I think it might be Jonny's Line 6 dl-4 pedal. So Jonny's programs his pedal to loop the first riff and then he plays over it with the second riff. EDIT: Ah touche stephanbass, I think you're right. It really sounds like Jonny's Electric guitar though, but it must be Chris' pedal effects.

The '42' Thread
42 ~ Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends ^ :laugh3: *drools in agreement* Seriously though, the whole album is VERY addicting! There has not been a single day so far when I didn't listen to it and its lively/deathly awesomeness!

The '42' Thread
42!!!!!!! ^ It might have to do with "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", a novel by Douglas Adams in which the #42 is supposed to yield the answer to life and such. Apologies if this question I have has already been answered: Anyone remember when Chris said that there was one song on their 4th album that "everyone must listen to before they die"? Does anyone know what song that was? I'm guessing 42 (cuz of it's awesomeness), but I don't know for sure....:inquisitive:

Coldplay accused of copying 'Viva La Vida' melody
Coldplay VLV Copy? Nahhhh.... ^ lol. YES! No one can stop them now! BWAHAHAHA! :D But Eh Steve! (QWERTY) is absolutely correct. Whoever made the vid changed the pitch. It's 1/2 a pitch higher than the album version, so Chris starts singing on C# instead of C. ...it makes him sound like he's sitting on a balloon or something. woooow....sad to think everyone's trying to knock our Coldplay off of their #1 album/single throne.

Cemeteries of London = Pirates?
Cemeteries of London!!!! Wow, that's exactly what i thought upon first listen. Definitely hearing some closeness to Pirates music in there. I think it must be the 3/4 timing. It gives it a faster, beatier feel. (Absolutely LOVE that Coldplay have finally used 3/4 timing!)

What do you think about Violet Hill?
What do you think of Violet Hill? 0_0 *Gasp* ABSOLUTELY..... LOVE.... VIOLET HILL !!!! The synthesizer spacey opening, the deep (but still some falsetto) vocals, Jonny's fuzz guitar effects, but most of all the heartstopping lugubrious piano at the end with Chris singing. Been reading a lot of criticism for VH but Chris said that not everyone is going to like the new album, might lose some fans and such. would be neat if the vid for VH was black and white with certain objects coloured violet (similar to the cool visual effect they had with those yellow dumpsters in the Live 2003 Tour Diary). But maybe they'll decide on colour. Wonder what the boys will come up with.... and wonder if Jonny will use a painted guitar now! 3 years just flew by! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE 4th ALBUM IN JUNE! YIPPEEEEE!!!!!

Please read this and reply- this might make you mad
Coldplay diss-ers ^ haha, no you're not the only one because i thought something weird too! :laugh3: I now figure ColdplayCold must mean "felt like socking them" or something. Well, it must be bedtime then.... :D To ColdplayCold = Welcome to the board. Well you just have to grow a tough skin towards people who pick on Coldplay. Sad to say it, but those people seem to pop up EVERYWHERE! But there are some souls who appreciate the band's music. Treasure those people! That's why there's the coldplaying message board :)
-
Why do people consider Chris Martin so pompous and arrogant?
why chris is picked on. ....because some people are mean and have nothing better to do except bash people they are jealous of. Or because some people don't get Chris' sometimes sarcastic jokes/statements (example: "we're the best f*cking band in the world") that could come off as being a tad snobbish, but really aren't. Or because of Chris' defensive reactions to the media hounds. edit: or because they believe what is said in that madtv parody that Tnspieler1012 posted above. it's sad really.... :(

Chris optical illusion ^ Oh wow! That's really cool Marcoldplayer :) Now Chris is ubiquitous (everywhere).... :shocked2:

GPASUYF - Twisted Logic Tour
"Droning" effect I believe Jonny has a Vintage Pro Co Rat (Distortion Pedal) which does create a muddy, "droning" sound. Based on the setlists I've seen, Jon marks the Pro-Co Rat and one of the settings on his Line 6 DL-4 pedal for the effects he uses in GPASUYF. The Line 6 pedal is most likely responsible for the slight delay. So that means that the Rat is probably the cause of that droning sound. But since I'm not an expert on all these pedals (although I wish I had them all, and you probably do too ;)) you should see this site for more info. on Jon's pedals (just click on the "FX" tab) http://www.whataboutjonbuckland.tk/

GPASUYF - Twisted Logic Tour
GPASUYF Live Version Jonny Bridge Riffs Well I know that it starts with this C#, Eb, E riff (exact number of strums may be off a bit) = e----------------------------------------------- B---2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-4h-5p-4-2--- Repeat G----------------------------------------------- D----------------------------------------------- A----------------------------------------------- E------------------------------------------------ Then Jonny repeats that a couple times with some major Fuzz/Distortion and slight Delay effects. But the other part sounds like improvising, basically he goes up the 2nd string and ends on a eerie-sounding, bending C#. So I think this is how it goes. (sorry if it's weird or whatever, I tried :\ ..It's a bit hard to decipher what notes Jonny plays....) e--------------------------------------------------------------- B---2b-2b-2b-2b-2b-2b-2b-4h-5p-4-2------repeat once, then: G---------------------------------------------------------------- This is picked really fast with all that delay/distortion I mentioned before: e------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ B---2-2-2-4-4-4-5-5-5-7-7-7-9-9-9-11-11-11-13-13-13-13-13-15-15-15-15-15-16-16-16-16-13b-13b-13b-13b-13b-15b-15b-15b-15b-15b-16b-16b-16b-16b-16b--------13b------- echo G------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ h = hammer on b = bend p = pull off Hope that helps somehow. :)

Do we Sound Like Coldplay
The Mugees Oh wow! I like your Music guys. Good stuff, especially "This Is How The World Is" with decent vocals, a hint of technoy style, and catchy bass lines. The lead guitar riffs in "Cos I Love You" are very Buckland-ish and simliar to "A Rush of Blood to the Head" but still nice. And "Drifting Out to Sea" sound sort of like "For You" & "Swallowed In The Sea" put together. The vocals on the "Don't Panic" cover are pretty spot on, but the guitar work needs a bit of improving.... Well the songs overall are a bit Coldplay-esque but so what!? Having someone say that your music sounds like Coldplay is a compliment in my books. ;)
