  1. this is a great song, i love the story it tells. and it just builds up into this great crescendo with them just going "ooohhh ooohhh". its pure music brilliance - in a song with lots of stuff going on, one of the best parts is with the least in it
  2. this was actually one of the songs i loved right from the beginning its amazing, i dont know how else to say it. the solo is just incredible. and i like that you cant decipher the lyrics - its just a song, and we dont have to squabble over motivation or anything like that. its like music in another language, when you cant understand it, but you just love it because it gives you a feeling. lyrics can change the feelings you get while listening to a song.
  3. yeah im really digging this song right now. it really is just this mix and mash of greatness for me. it all seems to make sense, i dont know how, but it does. the eastern influence was unexpected, and really cool, it gives me the feeling this song will be a single, because its got a swagger to it.
  4. i enjoy reign of love, and i think its placement is why people arent considering it any good. i mean it might be the weakest on the album, but that by no means makes it bad. i think its just squashed between two other really good songs, so it doesnt live up to them. but yeah, i do like it quite a bit.
  5. i think lovers in japan is a pretty great song. that being said, as we heard the acoustic version first, that one is the one I like the most truthfully. it will take sometime for me to think of the new version as the version. but i like it well enough for me to think it could be a good single.
  6. i think this song played out in three songs would make more sense, but as one it kind of masses into this weird mix of like, water, milk and oil. It doesn't really mix, but i kind of love the weirdness. Maybe its the first listen stuff playing on me, but I'm enjoying, if not entirely loving, this experimental nature. I do wish the lyrics more befit the song. Like "You thought you might be a ghost, you didn't get to heaven but you made it close"...that seems like a fucking deadly powerful line, but the way it comes out in the song its catchy. It's weird, but at this moment I enjoy the weirdness.
  7. the jury is still out for me with this song, ive been listening on iheartmusic.com, and i think its going to be a grower for me like some of their stuff i do love the piano part at the end though - coldplay are really not making any generic stuff in this album, and even if you don't like that (i do:D), you've got respect it
  8. damn it i wouldnt have minded listening if coldplay said i could, but americans cant even listen to it!!! i didnt read the bottom of the page until i had already wasted my time making a damn myspace account why must it be the 17th!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. well ive got to say that my theatrics with my previous post here was unwarranted, as it seems i dont have the balls to actually listen to the songs, theyre sitting theyre in my iTunes, looking beautiful, but i just cant pull myself to do it damn you june 17th release date!!
  10. i must decry that my love of coldplay has betrayed me for i have downloaded the leak and now I won't be able to anticipate the album in a week it is with an awful feeling that i shall listen to it but coldplay can be healing so i think i'll get out fit now this was a dumb rhyme but i had the time because i was downloading the leak and as I said i wont have to wait another week and yes, i was quite weak
  11. yeah its tough not listening to them, but i think i'll be the better for it in two weeks, that way i'll almost be discovering the stuff all over again, and i'll also have everything new
  12. I'm actually desperate to hear the stuff, but that feeling of putting the CD in for the first time and just turning the volume all the way up. I've also stumbled upon some Radiohead which I think can hold me over. If anything what everyone is saying is making me want to wait even longer. That all these songs are apparantly as good as we hoped is incredibly satisfying. I'm eager to listen myself, but I think I can wait till the 17th. I think once I get past today and tomorrow I'll be fine without it. Not so much fine actually, as full of anticipation.
  13. I refuse to listen to it. I had the rapidshare link ready to go, and i was a minute into downloading, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. There's something special about just sitting down and listening to an album with absolutely no clue whats going to happen. Unfortunately I've allowed myself to listen to almost half the album, but I still want to be surprised. The new stuff I've heard, and some other bands stuff (i know, its blasphemey:o), and I'll get through the next few weeks. I really don't think I'll give into temptation. But besides that, I hope everyone who does get it is still paying for the album, which I imagine all us Coldplay devotees would do anyways.
  14. yeah guys, he's joking one hundred percent, i think this was in the q radio interview with the band, and it was one hundred percent joke, and a damn good one at that
  15. yeah I too was hoping for 42 to be some kind of epic coming at you from everywhere and not letting up type song...which is sort of what they pitched it as. if its really just shy of 4 minutes i wonder how theyre going to do the three parter thing without it seeming like each part is rushed. damn though, this record will be short and sweet, which is the best! but yeah, 42 was supposed to be epic, and this is obviously just a normal length song, although thats certainly not saying it will be anything but great.
  16. actually thats completely true i never got a chance to like clocks because it was always on the radio, it was until i heard the scientist that i was drawn in but that being said, the fact that somethings a single doesnt mean it should change it entirely for the fan base, i mean, i dont listen to the radio religiously so it won't affect me that much but a song like talk was more interesting to me before it became a single, but time usually heals these things, and in a few years we'll rediscover the greatness of these songs...which is usually what happens to me when i get bored of a song
  17. Yeah I'm actually digging the acoustic version of this song right now. I won't listen to the album version until the albums out, not even a twenty second intro. I think its a great balance like someone mentioned, a rock out song, a kind of idk great song lol and now a more emotional piece. Personally though, I was wondering what everyone else thought about how many singles this album will actually have. They put out Violet Hill really early in the game. Viva la Vida came out really early. And now we've got them basically showing everyone Lovers in Japan early. This kind of rapid early release indicates to me that the band is either going to release quite a few singles, or that they think the albums got the potential to do it. I'm trying to think of all the singles from the previous albums, but for X & Y you had four. And we've got three already!?! Very few bands have the quality of album, or the balls, to release a lot of singles, but recently The Fray comes to mind as a band with a large number of singles out (the quality being debatable). If we've got three already, 42 is definitely seeming like a single, Yes might do it and I wouldn't be surprised to see any of the other ones we've heard about do it. Seriously, the quality of this album is just off the charts. I know X & Y was big and not all everyone wanted it to be, and that VLVODAAHF has the band nervous, but I'm fully anticipating it to destroy all their previous albums in terms of sales. And having an iTunes commercial always bodes well! And aside from sales, theres the fact this looks like it could be their best IMO.
  18. I couldn't control myself listening to Lovers in Japan, as I've already obviously heard it. But I only listened to bits of the others, I really don't want to ruin the album. I think the six songs I have, albeit Lost and Lovers in Japan are acoustic, are good enough for me with new Coldplay. I've got two weeks now until the album, but I think I can wait. I might have to stay off these forums, because the desire will be insurmountable.
  19. okay, so the song is amazing. like, i was blown away right from the beginning. this album is so diverse in all its songs...i want to climb a tree right now, and i cant even climb trees but in regards to the album next year, im certainly happy, but he better not mean with the songs they didnt use on this album...those better be coming SOON. maybe coldplay greatest hits, or something like that, with a few new songs seriously though, i want the stuff they didnt use asap
  20. just saw it online...yeah it definitely looked like nerves, and it wasn't his top stuff, but i mean, the first live performance of any material is going to be rough, i think it worked pretty well if he thinks its bad he should remember his own words, "just because I'm losing, doesn't mean I'm lost"
  21. shoot i missed it! im really hoping its not nearly as bad as all you are saying. can someone upload it as soon as possible? and also are they performing again tonight?
  22. thats pretty interesting, although id have to look at the original picture to see if this is just people seeing what they want to see...maybe they did alter it, who knows edit: wow, my bad, i thought that this was album cover, not the original picture. that is a good find.
  23. shoot!, i thought you meant they were doing a cover of the pcd too. omg that would have been terrible. that could only be done in jest, which of course would be to mean for the band to do. the pics are pretty sweet, im hoping they dont play violet hill or viva la vida, only because i want to hear another new song. but i doubt it will happen. i'll be happy either way though. but there is definitely some bad involved in this surprise performance...we may have to sit through the mtv movie awards to see when they'll perform :\ itll be one of these things... (Great Deep Announcer Voice/Soft pretty "Announcess" voice five minutes into the show) "And after the break, Coldplay performing a song from their new album Viva la Vida!" Next commerical break "Coming up! Coldplay gives fans a glimpse of their new album Viva la Vida!" After another eight commercial breaks (Me) "Oh fuck it." (flick off tv, go upstairs) (My sister, ten minutes later) "Oh did you know Coldplay were just singing their new song." (Me, John Stewart screaming to heavens style) "DAMN YOU MTV"
  24. I guess I sort of got the tongue-in-cheek, but even if that was so, it's not like they went ahead and asked them questions like they knew there was more than just Chris. I mean, I personally don't mind reading a whole interview of him. He's hilarious and extremely odd and off beat. The type of guy anyone could be friends with. That being said it does seem wrong to not give the other guys there due. But like someone said, it happens with every band. Usually the guy who wants to sing is the most boisterous and arrogant one, but Chris definitely turns that on its head. He's certainly entertaining, but he doesn't provide the dynamic of a Bono type guy, who polarizes all the attention to himself (and occasionally The Edge). Also what someone said is true - being that Chris is exactly the most forthright bandmate. It's hard to tell when he's giving you actual thoughts on the songs or just stuff he draws out of thin air. The other guys definitely tend to be more forward. Which is why I'm excited (I forgot who said it, but it wasn't Chris) one of them said theyve got a lot of non b-sides that theyre figuring out what to do with them.
  25. yeah, ive got to say im in the middle on 42, because its getting this epic hype, and im kind of expecting let down. which in fact is the best type of expectation, because its more than likely going to exceed my expectations.
