[25-June-2011] Coldplay @ Glastonbury festival, Worthy Farm, Pilton, UK
I could feel them being soo nervous. I think those "Glasto is so important" thing just put too much pressure on them. They were not at home on this stage and did not feel at all comfortable, trying to win the crowd over again and again. Those mistake during UATW proves that, I think. At Rock am Ring they enjoyed themselves and rocked the place, at Glasto they were kinda stiff. At least I felt that. The show was great, nevertheless. I liked fireworks and lasers, and walking man learned a couple of new moves (or I just didn't notice them earlier?). Clocks, GPASUYF, Viva and Charlie Brown were awesome, loved the whole set. My boys:P

Accessing Glastonbury Worldwide? (NOT in the UK, USA, Brazil or Germany)
try to watch it on Brazil channel - Multishow. I found this site which is presumably streaming this channel - http://www.plugmania.com.br/?pg=assiste&id=4454 It works in terrible quality for me, and I don't really know if this is really the one Multishow channel we need. I don't understand any Portuguese and can't read their official site. Though you can try and search for live stream of this channel or any other mentioned on coldplay.com.

Major Minus: LISTENING PARTY! Countdown to Thursday 23rd June, 9pm (BST)
Chris' and Will's vocals were recorded separately and than put together with help of a computer, and I think that what makes this song sound a bit "dead", or not so edgy and epic as it was live. Though it's still cool. Waiting for acoustic version. Just four of them in one room playing this great tune. And no Brian Eno even near.

Major Minus: LISTENING PARTY! Countdown to Thursday 23rd June, 9pm (BST)
It's cool. Pretty much the same as live, but I can hear acoustic guitar and bass a lot better. Chris' vocals are similar to ETIAW here, probably that thick vocal is a new Coldplay trend. Hope somebody's recorded it 'cause I've missed the very beginning, trying to catch it at BBC and Absolute at the same time.

Rate 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' now!
I can't understand people being so negative about this song. Two of three posts are angry/disappointed/contemptuous... Well I understand that anticipation made you believe that whatever they put out should be mind-blowing genius and in the way you want it to be. A mixture of Politik and Clocks, or The Scientist and Viva la Vida, whatever. Perhaps when hopes are too high, it spoils impression, because ETIAW is a nice summer song. It's catchy, dance-y, cheerful. It's good for listening in the car and hopping to at the festivals. Music must be different, for different people and different moods. Have you ever had that happy, cheerful attitude in the summer, just having a good time? I had. And I know what's this song about. And people, there is whole wide world around you with a lot of great different music. Try to switch a bit to something different, and than listen to ETIAW again - you'll see this song is half not that bad.

New Fashion
Hmm, let's look at this objectively: we might like or not like the colors and exact things they wear (personally, I'm not a big fan of bright closes and for me black color has always been stylish, though I discovered that many ppl consider it boring, so... ), but we should admit that they look by no means ridiculous or silly...

Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (OUT THIS FRI(ROW)/SAT (UK)!!) - [Walking Man and Videos + GIFs + Scre
Why wearing green trousers? Hell, they're too old for this :( I hope, I really really hope that the music will give the right intonation to lyrics so it'll sound just right. And it'll give sense to outfits too.

Dear Coldplay fans:
Oh, I know perfectly well that there are A LOT of people who don't like Coldplay. And yeah, I accept that because that's how the life goes. Different tastes and that kind of stuff. But really, Coldplay-hatred is an old trick. I'm sick of that stupid "gay" jokes, those "they ripped the sound of other bands", "Radiohead clones" or "they are boring" things that've been repeated 20000 times. Coldplay have become a kind of whipping boy. When there are such artists as Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber who are all about media hype and have little to do with music, people are still bothered with Coldplay. Why people why? Even here, on the Coldplay fan forum criticism overwhelms praise. Why am I writing it? Because it seems that Coldplay fans have to make excuses for loving the band. I hate that. I'm not that obsessed and I listen to a lot of other music, but still Coldplay is my favorite band. I have respect for other people tastes and I'd never say "this band is shit, 'cause it's not Coldplay", and I like constructive criticism, I just hate people bullying Coldplay and putting them on the same level as stupid pop singers.

Real or Fake? Famous Old Painters
I doubt very much that this one is real. Where has it been, while Lucas and other demos from Viva session have long been floating in the net? Though it is lovely and sounds very coldplay-ish it is too repetitive.

Differing Attitudes Towards X&Y
X&Y is not flawless, and it certainly has its own disadvantages, which have already been mentioned. It is overproduced and repetitive, and feels like a bunch of singles etc. But really, these flaws and mistakes just make you feel people behind the space-y tunes and banging drums. Artists never draw anything absolutely symmetric, because it would look unnatural. Same thing here, imperfection make you feel the reality of the feelings. I am sure that Chris wrote about the things he really felt at the time. This makes me love the album for years now.

Word Of Music's non-fangirl opinion of "Christmas Lights"
I am not a musician and can't really estimate solos for being difficult or not. But maybe more skilled people can tell if Bigger Stronger counts for decent guitar playing?

Coldplay style
They are just awesome. They definitely have style. I hope those costumes will last.

Thoughts on the 'revealed' song names for the LP5.
I don't know what is hiding behind those names - maybe those songs are perfection. But the fact is that the titles are shitty. I think that Coldplay sounded much more mature in their twenties than now. Really, "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall"?:shocked2: WTF? I cannot imagine four bearded men in their thirties singing about the tears and when it hurts like heaven. I love Coldplay. I believe in them. They have never done anything tasteless before. I love almost all their songs with a very few exceptions. And I love ALL the titles. But I'm afraid I might just not like the new songs as the old ones. I believe the emotion in Trouble. I don't believe the emotion in Wedding Bells.

Where did all the haters come from? - Guardian Article
Well, that is just an exaggerated description, kind of general association, only to make an example. It's not working with anybody.
-
Where did all the haters come from? - Guardian Article
My point is that Coldplay became the target of the haters because they just don't disguise the emotions in their songs. Oasis music says "It's cool. If you hate it you're not cool" Radiohead music says "It's complicated. If you hate it you don't understand it" Coldplay music says "It's emotional. If you hate it you're unemotional". That's all. In the people's mind emotional=vulnerable=weak. Everybody wants to seem strong and aggressive, especially mentally unsteady teens who spend their time writing abusive commentaries on YouTube. That's why it's become popular to despise Coldplay, as well as Sting and James Blunt, and not Oasis or Radiohead.

Why doesn't Chris Martin drink alcohol?
I thought he drinks beer and wine, but a little. Maybe the thing is that he doesn't get drunk.
