Is it true that Freaky Teeth was tongue-in-cheekily a James Bond theme? It's a cool song although it's not my favourite. ....aahh I can't wait for the AA album. :D

That makes sense. Maybe LP2 to Noel will be MX for Jonny. :) ....ah I know what you mean. That was very jarring for me on first listen because I had listened to EOTR so many times from the Rio soundcheck to the point that I forgot it wouldn't be a stripped down acoustic thing. Indeed, the album has such amazing vocals. Noel's my favourite singer ever.

The crocodiles thing is a Peter Pan reference that I don't quite know myself, but it makes sense. :p Ah that makes sense now. So the "amen" functions like what in an Oldplay song would be the phrase "it's true." The problem is I keep hearing it as "oh morning come bursting, the clouds they mend." (Like the clouds are mending after a storm) I didn't literally mean that. I just meant where should the commas be if I wanted it to be grammatically logical. When sung obviously, there need not be a comma.

Thanks for posting the TFTMON. :) I really enjoy those. Much agreed. Maybe it'll be on LP2? Hopefully. It's a great song, although it's a little mellow as a closer...although we'll see how that goes since I added Simple Game of Genius and Alone on the Rope right after STC but haven't listened through. I listened to I'd Pick You Every Time...love it...but the video's been removed. :( Also...the cover to the CD is really fecking pretty. I love it. Does anyone feel like the guitar work on this album is just a little bit worse than anything that came of Oasis? I guess that's just new Noel being new Noel, but I feel like his new lead guitarist is just not as good as Gem... and none of the songs have anything nearly as epic as Supersonic, Live Forever, DLBIA, TIOBI...too many to name really. I love the new stuff for different reasons though. Everybody's on the Run is rather quite my anthem. Oh - other complaint, does it seem like the live stuff's strings and organs are a bit cheesy sounding? Coldplay seems to get away with having an entire song be driven by strings...but the musical interlude in Everybody's on the Run, for example, just sounds kind of meatless with that weird synth-string solo live.

Coldplay.com Lyrics Have Been Corrected
Wait. I've re-rationalized my interpretation of the lyrics. The phrase "my drunken hazard Daniel in a Lion's Den" is an entire phrase that describes the noun "a friend" (that was a lost). I CAN SEE THE LIGHT NOW. Because I thought that particular lyric needed a verb somewhere (if you look at all the other lines in the song, they do). Now someone explain to me why "Oh morning come bursting the clouds amen" is supposed to work (ie where should I mentally place commas to make it at least flow the right way). So funny that I have so much trouble with what is my favourite song in the world. :embarrassed:

I understand the biblical background, and your explanation is acceptable. I just think it's a line that doesn't fit grammatically with the other lyrics. It's just VERY offputting the way it's phrased. Sorry for thinking that?

Chris Martin dissapointed to leave "Moving To Mars" from the album.
Right, didn't mean to make my opinion fact. BUT IT IS. :p I like UWTB's lyrics/story better, but I much prefer the music-scape of MTM. Jonny's "epic lead"? Can't really top that. The guitar was a little underwhelming on UWTB, in my opinion, compared to songs like MTM, Fix You, DAAOHF, and Amsterdam (tracks of comparable structure/function).

This. Sure, it's nice that we know the song exists and love it, but we will never get to share it and sing it with other people the way we could with ETIAW or even UATW (my friend who basically only listens to pop/rap was HUMMING UATW a week after I gave him MX...and it's not even that catchy of a song). I guess we shouldn't care that much about what people think, but it'd sure be nice to have MTM there as a sense of proof that Coldplay is REALLY good. Pink Floyd flavour, Rocket-Mannish...and distinct Coldplay AROBTTH-style instrumentation with MX lyrics and MX synths (without being overdone). It's basically the greatest song of this era [besides UATW, in my opinion]. In the context of the album though, the only one it could've replaced was UIF or UFO...otherwise the album wouldn't have the same feel. At this point I just leave MTM after UWTB but perhaps I will experiment with placing it.

This is good, but UATW still has its weird nonsense lyrics, Charlie Brown still has "poh", and ETIAW's title is misspelled. So I refuse to believe they're correct yet.

Rate DON'T LET IT BREAK YOUR HEART poll!
Yeah I agree slightly. The mix will probably be a lot better live. I feel like Major Minus has the same problem where the vocals are just a little less prominent than they should be. In terms of drums being too loud, I like where they are. It kind of makes me think of Politik.

Of the upcoming concerts, do we know which ones are televised or not?

That doesn't mean overproduced. It just means you think the sound balance isn't optimal.

Radiohead
In Rainbows is a good album to start, but I'd say the hits from early Radiohead are a good place to start too; I got into the band through No Surprises, Karma Police, and Paranoid Android alone.

Which song are you looking forward to seeing live that you haven't seen yet?
DLIBYH, UWTB, POC (with Rihanna).

X&Y
A great album. It has some of my favourite individual songs - Square One, Talk, A Message, Low, Swallowed in the Sea, and Till Kingdom Come, in particular. Something I've always loved about X&Y is how spacey it feels. Something that we don't really see again until Moving to Mars and DLIBYH. It's hard to describe yet it makes so much sense when I listen to it. It probably has to do with the synth and guitars. I agree with Baw8cc's post though...the album does have elements that are easier to dislike - the lyrics are "stupid", it sounds too "U2ish", etc. In my opinion, the problems are: -Illogical/inconsistent track placement. The energy just doesn't really flow the way it does in all the other albums (MX especially, for obvious reasons). My biggest problem is probably the placement of Fix You relative to everything else...it's a big stadium anthem rocking song that's jammed between White Shadows and Talk, both fast spacey rockers. Something about the transition between these three songs just doesn't work for me, and it exemplifies the overall problem. Many people also say X&Y is too long (it's 62:35 compared to around 40-45 for Parachutes, VLV, and MX). I think the best solution though would be to switch Twisted Logic and Fix You so that Fix You becomes the big closer while Twisted Logic is the twisted turning point or summat. -Some of the songs are too long or in other words, not refined enough. The shortest track on X&Y is 3:58 for Swallowed in the Sea. That's saying something. I kind of feel like there could have been more concise ways to express certain tracks or at least stricter cutting down... I'm referring to: the long, slow, and drawn outros in Square One, Fix You, A Message, White Shadows, Swallowed in the Sea... not to mention the really long instrumental fadeouts in X&Y, the Hardest Part, Low. The only tracks to have hard and fast finishes are What If, Talk, Speed of Sound, Twisted Logic, and Till Kingdom Come. Think of the 2011 live version of GPASYUF - Chris no longer sings/plays a verse at the end like on the studio because doing such a thing can really disrupt the energy to a song. It makes sense in Square One and Fix You, but I feel like it's not as well executed in A Message, The Hardest Part, X&Y, and Low. If they had cut down the filler in some of these songs, or one or two songs themselves (well, I couldn't live without any of these songs) the album would be much better. That said, X&Y is definitely the most heartfelt and honest of the albums. Fix You is just pure heartbreak and heart-fix, and What If, despite its "stupid" lyrics, really captures the simple questions of love.

What is your Top Song from each Album?
I don't dislike any songs, so I'll do my #1 and #2... Parachutes = Everything's Not Lost, Trouble AROBTTH = Amsterdam, the Scientist X&Y = Square One, Talk VLV = Strawberry Swing, Lovers in Japan/ROL MX = UATW, DLIBYH
-
The next single - which song will it be?
Neither were Lovers in Japan nor Strawberry Swing....which ironically were the best songs on VLV (in my opinion). Maybe POC and UIF will be released as a double A-side? I feel like the band has really been pushing UIF live lately, and it's a great song that would make a nice depressing double tracker; plus they're next to each other. These two songs would embody the highs and lows of the album.
