  1. Really? I've always heard it as "Oh morning, come bursting, the clouds, they mend." As in, the clouds mend.....which brings some sort of image of clouds rearranging in a pretty way (see: Paradise music video, after the 1st chorus). "Oh morning come bursting, the clouds amen" is not grammatically complete and doesn't make sense. That's how I hear/see it at least.
  2. Was meh about the ACL recording (except for the Jonny part), love the new live ones + studio version. It's really powerful in its simplicity. :) Surprisingly, I like the electricky drum since it sounds so much like a heartbeat.
  3. The only one I really have a problem with is UATW. "drunken hazard" is just...no It has to be "My drunken head's a Daniel in a lion's den" unless someone tells me something better. Same with the first line. "Amen". Really?
  4. I still hear "be a cartoon heart." "We'll run riot" is horrid grammar. Also, "poh"? o_O
  5. Neither, I don't have MX, but I have Car Kids! ;)
  6. I feel like the studio --> live improvement is bigger in CB than in VLV, which is to say I don't like the album version of CB as much as I had hoped. But I still like CB better...its feel-good vibe is really good, it's fast/jumpy/happy/catchy; I like its lyrics and rough message more. Coldplay will still always be remembered for VLV, I think, but I like CB better.
  7. I don't we should "feel sorry" for any member on MX. Songs with excellent basslines: -Major Minus -ETIAW -Paradise Good-ish basslines: -UATW: well, it's really short, but one of the most powerful moments of the album. -POC: not in the foreground but it still sounds good and does what it needs to do. -HLH, CB, and DLIBYH: same Meh basslines: -UIF - Guy only has a small part, but it's a minimalist song anyways -UWTB...maybe I have to listen again but it's not very prominent at all -MX - it's quieter on album than live so it's not as good No bassline: -UFO (I think) I don't think there's enough bassis to say Guy's not having a good time on this album. Not to mention he plays the synth on ETIAW! :) *And Will does a great job on this album....HLH, CB, ETIAW, Paradise, Major Minus, UIF...even if some of it is drum machine that's still Will having fun and making good stuff...and live it's all Will.

It was a bloody joke, that. More than anything else, it's Chris complimenting Oasis.
  9. About a 7. It always disappears in my memory and pales to every other song on the album. It makes me think of Prospekt's March but not as good or complete sounding. It's as short as Don't Panic yet it sounds like half the song. It's very pretty though. :) Edit: I also wish there was actually some Jonny on this song. Like Prospekt's March basically. Or See You Soon.
  10. ^I was making what seemed at the time more logical as a translation. :p 汽车小孩。
  11. Incredibly hard question. :( 1. Amsterdam, DAAHF 1.5 UWTB 2. ENL, TKC
  12. ¡Niños de los carros!
  13. My mum once caught me singing Life in Technicolour ii. :p HOW EMBARRASSING. Nah but this was a great article. The Katy Perry Karma Police line is a good one. :)
  14. Agreed - to deepen it, my interpretation of AHT/DLIBYH is that the choruses of DLIBYH where "she goes.....don't let it break your heart" as well as DLIBYH is the hopeful transmission from the girl character. :) MX and HLH are a perfect transition too...MMIX to ETIAW is good but UATW to MMIX isn't very remarkable to me. I actually don't like UFO to POC that much. Not that it's a bad transition...just not as special as MX and AHT are.
  15. UATW, closely followed by DLIBYH, CB, UIF, HLH.
  16. Not to mention the crowd was kind of dead at Letterman, so the perception of tempo is different. But yeah, I'm sure it changes from show to show. In my listening experience, it's HLH that has the most variable speed...it's booking-it-fast at Rock Am Ring, Glastonbury...but rather slow at iTunes.

Mmmm..anyone else excited by the vague process of Coldplay + Noel?! :)
  18. Everything in it's Right Place is TOTAL sing along. :p A great interview...but was it me, or are some of the quotes repeated/edited redundantly? Like the line about Jay-Z being a multientrepeneur..?
  19. This. I feel like they should have had just ONE song that had the same piano-to-loud build we know and love. Like Amsterdam or Fix You or something. DLIBYH had that opportunity...UWTB does it too disjointedly, and none of the other songs get quite as big unfortunately. That said, the album is great...it's experimental yet catchy.
  20. ^While those are probably true for studio, if you watch the Rock Im Park performance, Jonny actually plays the main riff on synth and then acoustic guitar for most of the song. Weird, right?
  21. I love the album version, but I do have a little problem is that in one part of Jonny's guitar solo, when it gets low at about 0:06 in the above video, the rhythm feels wrong compared to the live version - as if he's playing it more sloppily in a way that doesn't sound right. ^That video is brilliant though. :D
  22. I was making a joke because that lyric from Major Minus makes it sound like the right (wing) > left.
  23. Think about it, on this tour, Jonny has been playing more stratacaster!
  24. Score 2 for Fox: "I can feel it climbing up the stairs, My right side's fighting but my left hides under the chairs."
