It's just as well it's cool to be dumb Dawn, Lea, Sezer, Bonnie, Glyn, Mikey, Nikki, Shahbaz and Pete - it's time for Big Brother. This time the seven million viewers have been told they will learn all about Tourette Syndrome from sufferer Pete, why boys like wearing girls' T-shirts and why Sezer loves kissing. Far more interesting, they will learn about British education. In the six years since the series started, the contestants have descended from sharp-thinking Jack-the-lad Scouser Craig and Nasty Nick with a brain but no heart, through to Jade Goody - who thinks that Rio de Janeiro is a person - to this year's Bonnie, who admits she can't even pronounce her …

Poker game, auction, bloodbath - welcome to the LA screenings Published: 29 May 2006 Last week saw myself, the Five acquisitions team and executives from every other UK broadcaster transported to Los Angeles for the annual merry-go-round that is the LA Screenings. Every May we all decamp to the Hollywood hills for an event that is one part cattle auction, one part poker game and one part showbiz schmooze. Rather than topping up the tan by the hotel pool, sipping colourful cocktails and trying to spot film stars, the week is instead spent in dark, airless viewing theatres full of sweaty TV executives watching new show after new show. These are the series that Am…

An unprepossessing 19th-century converted warehouse on Liverpool's Parr Street has long been the unlikely source of some of Britain's most memorable musical creations. Coldplay, Simply Red, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Badly Drawn Boy, Dove, Bjork and New Order are a few of the superstars who have used the building's recording studios, which are the largest outside London. Three Grammy winners have been fashioned there by Coldplay's producer alone, and many a career launched. Now, just as Liverpool prepares to become the 2008 European City of Culture, the city has learnt the studios are to close. A company part-owned by the veteran rock singer Phil Collins is to sell the b…

I just did a random search on Google for 'parachutes'. Top of the results that came back was a link to amazon.com to buy the amazing album called Parachutes by Mr Berryman, Buckland, Champion and Martin, and the eighth result said the following: 'Square One Parachutes' So I click the link, http://www.square1.com/ , to find that it is the website of a company called Square One, who sell and service parachutes. Wow, incredible. Sorry if this has already been on here, but I just had to share this with you. Any other interesting google results that you've found while searching for Coldplay?

James Blunt picked up two awards for most performed song and international hit of the year for You're Beautiful. Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett of Gorillaz were named Songwriters of the Year at the awards ceremony in London. Kaiser Chiefs' Employment won best album. The Ivors honour UK songwriters, composers and music publishers. Tunstall, Blunt, Gorillaz and the Kaiser Chiefs also won awards at the Brit Awards earlier this year. Will the folks in these countries keep the board informed if Coldplay make any TV appearances during their tour. I'm sure they'll do some TV in Australia as they have done in the past.

Coldplay were voted the world’s most popular group earlier this year. They’re also possibly the most uninteresting. Despite that, a New York literary agency, David Vigliano Associates, is currently masterminding the sale of their memoirs. I hope there’s some dirt on the coffee-table goody-goodies (Gwyneth Paltrow’s husband, Chris Martin, neither smokes nor drinks). Yet with the former Take That star Gary Barlow’s memoirs having been flogged recently for £1m to Bloomsbury, Coldplay’s will probably sell for zillions. And be bought by as many unquestioning fans. NEW YORK -- The musician whose favorite color is that of an eggplant has been voted the world's "Sexiest Vegetarian" by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Prince is tied for the honor with Kristen Bell, who said she'd rather have brussels sprouts than meat any day. The runners-up in the annual PETA poll include Natalie Portman, Nicollette Sheridan and Joaquin Phoenix. Last year, Coldplay singer Chris Martin and "American Idol" season four winner Carrie Underwood shared the top honor. source: http://www.wdsu.com/entertainment/9255851/detail.html

I recently disovered a great site that shows all of the most significant Beatles and Rolling Stones London locations. I was wondering if there are any sites that show important Coldplay locations such as the beach where Chris sang Yellow for example? http://www.londontelevisionarchive.com/htdocs/tours.html

CHRIS MARTIN and his COLDPLAY bandmates are having a creche installed inside their tour bus to cope with their growing number of new babies. The FIX YOU hitmakers fear they will miss out on quality time with their new offspring and would love to take their kids with them on tour. A spokesman for the band says, "The guys are over the moon with all the baby stuff." Martin became a dad for the second time last month (APR06) when wife GWYNETH PALTROW gave birth to their son MOSES, while drummer WILL CHAMPION's wife MARIANNE had baby girl AVA two weeks ago. Bassist GUY BERRYMAN and wife JO are expecting their first baby in the autumn (06). http://www.pr-inside.com

Ok so I just found out that I will be spending next year in England, and I was going to try and visit some key Coldplay sites. Can someone please tell me if they know the name of the beach where Yellow was shot, which I have heard before but can't remember, and also if anyone knows in which forest The Scientist was filmed? Thanks so much. Owen

Hey guys, just wondering if any of you could help me out with something. Did Coldplay perfomed on snl on year 2000 and if so which songs did they play? I'm reorganizing the videos thread by years and snl came up for 2000 but when I clicked on the link there was no video for the year 2000 and I already searched for it on the forums but nothing came up either.. so if you could help me out, I would really appreciate it, thanks. -LS

Hospitals with high rates of caesarean deliveries are riskier than those where more women deliver naturally, research has shown. An investigation of caesarean births, which are increasing worldwide, has revealed that dangers to both mother and baby are increased in hospitals where the procedure is most commonly carried out. Mothers were more likely to require antibiotic treatment and to suffer illness after a caesarean while their babies were more likely to be delivered prematurely. Deaths were increased in mothers and babies. The findings will fuel the debate over caesareans in Britain where women are increasingly demanding the right to choose their method of d…

LONDON (Reuters) - EMI Group <EMI.L>, the world's third-largest music company, said on Tuesday its full-year profits climbed sharply on the success of albums from Coldplay and Gorillaz. The company, whose $4.2 billion takeover bid for its smaller rival Warner Music <WMG.N> was rebuffed, said it continued to believe a deal "would be very attractive to both sets of shareholders but we will only pursue a transaction that delivers enhanced value and earnings accretion to our shareholders." EMI's pretax profit excluding amortization and exceptional items for the year to March 31 was 159.3 million pounds ($299.1 million), in line with analysts estimates, compa…

LONDON, England (CNN) -- Long admired by critics and more successful contemporaries, Australian musician Grant McLennan -- co-founder of The Go-Betweens -- wrote lush, poetic songs that could break hearts and mend marriages. But when he died earlier this month at the age of 48, most people had still never heard of him. Following his fatal heart attack at home in Brisbane, scores of fans and celebrity admirers, who have in the past included U2, R.E.M. and Coldplay, logged on to the band's Web site to share their grief, while highbrow newspapers such as Los Angeles Times and Britain's Guardian rattled off deeply affectionate obits. And in the stuffy corridors of po…
