  1. Razorlight have slammed rival bands who churn out the same old music instead of creating something new. The band's frontman, Johnny Borrell, says that fans can expect variety on their new album - a sideways swipe at other bands like U2 and Coldplay whom, he claims, play it safe with what they release. He told NME "We're not one to do a formula and then repeat it 10 times, we like to write songs." But Borrell admitted that the album, as yet untitled, is still not musically complete, "There's a couple of songs where there's more work to be done and it's always a worry until you've finished." The deadline to complete the album has been set for two weeks. http:…

  2. Goldfrapp frontwoman Alison Goldfrapp has branded Coldplay star Chris Martin as "insane" after observing his starry behaviour on tour. Goldfrapp, who supported "the Clocks rockers" last year (2005), was stunned to discover Martin would fly home between gigs in his private jet. She says, "We supported Coldplay and Chris Martin used to fly home on his jet, go home, write songs then fly to the next gig. "I thought, 'What? Are you insane?'" http://www.contactmusic.com/ audio: http://podcasting.fia.net/5893/1414366.mp3 (right click >>> save target/link as) the coldplay part comes at 20:30

  3. Because my daughter Damaris Aubrey Fire Storm (23 months old) is obsessed with them. http://home.exetel.com.au/stormz/blog/gallery/test1/images/print___4_.jpg Every day she`s singing her favourite songs (or what words she can remember at her age anyway) .... The Scientist, God put a...., Fix You. As soon as she get`s up, she`s saying "watch Coldplay" or "watch Chris Martin?" (we have some music vids on dvd...), her favourite ones are The Scientist ("man walking backwards.... car crash!") and God Put a.... ("man crying, he`s alright"). We get home from somewhere.... "watch Chris Martin?". She has to watch the video`s at least a few times before she goes to …

  4. Rocker COURTNEY LOVE is still mortified about her behaviour when she first met COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN, because she was rude and high on crack cocaine. The former HOLE singer is further embarrassed because she accused him of being in a rival British band, while Martin behaved like the perfect gentleman. Love says, "The first time I met Chris Martin I was on crack and I was an absolute a**hole and I kept saying, 'Aren't you in TRAVIS?' to him. "I was just so horrible to him and I can't believe that he was so nice to me." http://www.contactmusic.com/ ----------------------------------------------- ...

  6. Coldplay frontman Chris Martin gets some time off diaper duty May 20, when he'll perform in honor of his friend Alex Wallau, president of ABC Network Operations, at a Beverly Hills event benefiting UCLA's Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation. Called A Taste of Napa, it's being chaired by Disney Chief Bob Iger, his wife, Willow Bay, and Bon Appetit's Barbara Fairchild. Wallau, a cancer survivor himself, is a passionate advocate for advancing cancer research. We can expect a huge ABC/Disney celeb contingent, natch, for the event. Confirmed already are Eva Longoria, Patrick Dempsey, Ellen Pompeo, Matthew Fox, Muhammad Ali, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Smits, Al Michaels, and Eduardo X…

  8. Liam Gallagher: 'Arctic Monkeys Make Me Feel Awkward' Liam Gallagher says that the Arctic Monkeys make him feel “awkward.” Although the 38-year-old things they’re a decent band, he’s put off by how young the teenagers are. Speaking about Alex Turner, he told Q Magazine: “I like him, I do, and he is definitely a bit of a genius lyricist, but he is still a kid. “He was eight when ‘Definitely Maybe’ came out. What the fuck am I, a 38-year-old supposed to say to that? They make me feel awkward.” In the candid interview, Liam also lamented about how Oasis aren’t quite the force they used to be, adding “What bothers me right now is that we are not the biggest…

  10. A duet between Chris Martin and Nelly Furtado has been mysteriously dropped from the Canadian songstress’s comeback album. Martin had recorded the track ‘All Good Things’ for Furtado’s Timbaland produced long player but the song has apparently been removed at the request of Coldplay’s label. A source told the Daily Star: “nelly and Chris don’t have a problem and loved every minute of working together. You can even hear them having a laugh at the end of the song.” “But three days ago the order came through to remove it from the album. It seems EMI have a problem rather than either of the artists. I don’t know if Chris knows yet but when he finds out he’ll be …

  11. I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere on the site, but as far as I've been able to see it hasn't. I was really dissapointed to read that EMI had once again swooped in, and used their corporate power to limit artistic creation and expression. It has been reported that the album closer for Nelly's new album, called "All Good Things", which featured Chris Martin (as previously reported on this site), has been pulled at the last minute. Here is a link to an article which describes the situation: http://www.entertainmentwise.com/news?id=16449 I'm fairly dissapointed if this is true, and it seems to be.

  13. COLDPLAY TWISTED LOGIC TOUR LIMTED EXTRA TICKETS RELEASED! All Australian Coldplay fans will remember Monday 10 October 2005 – in just over 2 hours tickets to the band’s three east-coast concerts had sold out, second shows were announced, and Adelaide and Perth had been added to the itinerary. Third shows soon followed in Sydney and Melbourne, and by the time all ten shows on the Twisted Logic Tour had gone on sale, the total tickets sold was over 100,000. With this sell-out result, no tickets have been available for purchase to any of the Australian Coldplay shows for over six months – until now. Promoter Michael Chugg has been working feverishly with his pr…

  15. Data from record sales in the UK shows that in 2005 "guitar music" outsold "pop" by 11% (36% vs 25%) according to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). Story. Of course, how the two genres are defined and differentiated has to be somewhat subjective. The story making the claim points to groups like Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs, and The Killers as representative of "guitar music". http://www.modernguitars.com/ The top ten selling guitar albums are as follows: 1 ‘X&Y’ - Coldplay 2 ‘Employment’ - Kaiser Chiefs 3 ‘Demon Days’ - Gorillaz 4 ‘Eye to the Telescope’ - KT Tunstall 5 ‘Hot Fuss’ – The Killers 6 ‘Don't Believe The Truth’ - Oasis 7 ‘American Idiot’ - Gre…

  16. Okay guys...I know I'll get blasted for even listening to Ashlee Simpson...but here it goes. I read a review on MSN.com about the new album and one of the things I found curious was that the reviewer indicated that one of the songs sounded like the beginning of Oasis "Wonderwall." I had to check it out on my Rhapsody music service to see what this was all about ...and when I continued to listen to more of the album I noticed that another song "Eyes Wide Open" sounded strangely familiar. The background music was a complete lift of "Square One". Am I crazy? Someone check it out...and give me your thoughts!! NUTS!! sam gainesville, florida

Canadiens=Montreal Canadiens NHL hockey team :happy2: -------------------------------------- Here's one area where Montreal has a decided advantage in the series: The music playing when the Canadiens enter the ice just before the opening faceoff. After a montage of famous moments in Canadiens history -- somehow, they all involve winning the Stanley Cup -- the Canadiens enter to a loop from Coldplay's "Fix You," the instrumental part where the guitars and then the drums come in (we'd post the right sound clip but for copyright issues; suffice to say, it's the portion of the song from 2:35 to 3:30 on the album track). It's not the Vancouver Canucks coming onto the ice…

  19. Translated page... Often one has spoken recently about a possible conflict relationship between the Coldplay and EMI, the record house of the band, which would be guilty to have ' forced' in some way the choices of the group of Chris Martin . Well, probably the situation will change, even if not radically, but sure the 'status quo' will endure clearly an improvement. The scene of international the record industry, in fact, is destined to change time soon. The leaders of EMI are preparing the preliminary encounter with their corrispective of the Warner Music Group in order to begin a distance of ' fusion' of the two record houses that would have to carry to the birth of…

Coldplay star Chris Martin has said he is considering becoming a classical music student when he is "too old" to be in a band. "When I'm 40, too old to be a rock star, I plan to go back to college to study classical music," the 29-year-old told the New York Post. He spoke at a New York Philharmonic concert featuring music from the films of Steven Spielberg. The director is the godfather of Martin's wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow. The couple attended the event three weeks after the birth of their baby Moses, a brother to 23-month-old daughter Apple. Martin offered no further explanation as to his classical aspirations. Last week Coldplay received three nominations at…

  21. edit: cool, cant edit the title i have what i believe is the studio version of 'i ran away'. however, in several parts of the song, it seems that he moves around sounds lin the vocals. to explain better: instead of 'a star arose, in my own cage', he said 'a star arose, in myn ow cage' (it actually sounds more like 'mauna caige'). also, instead of 'im stuck in line, and in a cage', he said 'i stuck imn line, and in a cage'. does anyone else notice this?

  22. Singer Will Young has beaten a host of British acts to be voted the most popular UK artist of all time in a poll of radio listeners. The annual chart celebrates the best of UK music counting down the 40 most popular artists of all time, as voted for by listeners of commercial radio. Former Beatle Sir Paul claimed third position followed by the Spice Girls at number four and Coldplay at five. The 27-year-old, who was catapulted to fame in 2002 after winning the inaugural Pop Idol contest, fought off competition from the likes of Robbie Williams and Sir Paul McCartney to top the Music Week May Day chart. Young, whose first single Evergreen shot straight to num…
