A few weeks ago, I discovered a DVD called "The Coldplay Phenomenon" on amazon.de. It was released last week and as there is no further information concerning the DVD's content, I wonder if anyone of you knows what it's about?! It doesn't look like an official DVD, but it says "An independent review of Coldplay on record, stage and screen. Includes archive footage and interviews." - The phrase "Archive footage and interviews" sounds pretty interesting, right? ;) Here's the link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000BHLP3I/qid%3D1134226035/202-1524771-2028603

DISBELIEF greeted the revelation that Jonathan Ross gets £720,000 a year - for just three hours work a week. But Wossy's whopping wage seems like chickenfeed compared with the earnings of others in our Showbiz Rich List. We can reveal that the top earner on TV is 46-year-old Simon Cowell. He might be TV's Mr Nasty, but he is on to a nice little earner with X Factor, American Idol and as the guiding force behind bands like Il Divo. Last year alone the wearer of high-waisted pants trousered £15million, taking his overall worth to £80million. No wonder he can afford to splash out £6million buying J-Lo's Beverly Hills mansion - and then fork out half as much again tarti…

The Richest Rock Stars Britain's "dinosaur rockers" still roll in the dough. Former Beatle Paul McCartney, 63; Rolling Stone Mick Jagger, 62; Elton John, 59; and Tom Jones, 65, all place in the musicians' Top 10 in the annual Sunday Times Rich List, with estimated wealth of $1.47 billion for McCartney, $365 million for Jagger and John, and $329 million for Jones. Among the younger generation, Chris Martin, 29, and other members of Coldplay, who had last year's best-selling global album, each have estimated wealth of $44 million in 2006, the newspaper said in a statement about its 18th annual Rich List of Britain's 1,000 richest people and families, to be publishe…

As the scion of a showbusiness legend, Kiera Chaplin has entertainment in her blood. At the tender age of 23, the granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin and great-granddaughter of the Irish playwright Eugene O'Neill has already forged a successful career in film and fashion. And this weekend, she will be named as one of the wealthiest young entertainers from the UK by The Sunday Times Rich List, which estimates her personal fortune at £30m. The model and actress, who also has a 30 per cent stake in the Hollywood-based film company Limelight Productions, is ranked the second richest entertainer aged 30 and under, only narrowly beaten by the violinist Vanessa-Mae Nicholson…

  11. Embrace played their first major date before a home crowd on Monday - a long time coming, according to lead singer Danny McNamara. The charismatic vocalist repeatedly thanked the 2,000 fans who packed the Victoria Theatre, Halifax, for their loyalty and support. A tour through past and recent classics included songs from "Out of Nothing'', the superb "Gravity'', penned for the band by Coldplay's Chris Martin, and "Ashes'', an uplifting spirit-soarer that wouldn't be out of place as a World Cup anthem! Danny, who sowed the seeds for Embrace with brother Richard in a garden shed at the family's home in Bailiff Bridge, said their home town fans had kept them going t…

  12. The hoopla around the birth of Tom and Katie's brand new kitten (Suri!) may be the most watched celebrity nativity of our time: Tom's going to eat the placenta! She has to suck a pacifier! But they are hardly the first celebrities to have the birth of their child right smack in the center of the media spotlight. Here then, for some perspective, is a list of 10 other notable celebrity parents and the stories of how they got their buns out of the oven and into the limelight. 1. I was wondering what kind of shoes chris martin usually wore during the parachutes and rush of blood to the head era. I know during x&y he usually wears the stan smith's or the adidas superstars. I did see he wore puma's and black dress shoes that's it. Also one more question on the coldplay live 2003 dvd what kind of black coat is he wearing with the buttons near the start and through the middle of the concert. Thank you in advance.....

  15. Now in its 37th year—a grandfatherly age for film festivals, many of which are less than a decade old—the Nashville Film Festival remains the biggest film event of the year in the city, a seven-day orgy of movie love that drew some 15,000 people last year. And yet, despite its growing size and visibility, it’s still a remarkably democratic event. When the 2006 NaFF launches Thursday at Regal’s Green Hills megaplex, on four screens, it will be open to anyone with a few hours of free time, nine bucks, and a schedule. From there, you’re on your own. Thursday 20th April SHORTS PROGRAM 4 (9:25 p.m.; also 5 p.m. Friday) Gwyneth Paltrow makes her directorial debut with “Deal…

A SWINDON band are hoping to take the music scene by storm. Belarus have already been compared to Coldplay and the five members of the band, who are all in their mid to late 20s, are seeking national recognition after landing a deal with independent record label Precious Iota. Their debut single Standing In The Right Place was released last month, reaching number 32 in the Indie charts. But drummer Richard Millin is confident they can go from strength to strength after their first experience of the big time. "It's all about getting yourself noticed and allowing the public to sample your music," he said. "We have been working solidly together for eight years…

The Church’s Steve Kilby must really, really hate Coldplay’s Chris Martin, and not like the usual “God, I can’t stand that putz in Coldplay” sort of thing, either. Yeah, he gets to you and me, with his goofy haircut, his holier-than-thou super-hot wife and his constant string of boasting about writing the greatest albums of his generation. But he must really stick in Kilby’s craw: He’s one-upped The Church’s only claim to fame. For nearly 20 years, Kilby led The Church’s revolving-door lineup to aim to be the most easily accessible epic-rock outfit ever. With one part jangle, one part off-the-shelf arena rock, The Church rode out the ’80s and ’90s as the rock act that …

  21. Singer Nerina Pallot is headed for hits at the age of 30 - but says she'll be snubbed by bigger acts for slagging them off. Nerina's first single from new album Fires - Everybody's Gone To War - seems set to be a hit. She has compared Coldplay's lyrics to "bad A-level poetry" and slated Green Day and Live8. She said: "I always think I'm the arbiter of good taste, so you have to take me with a pinch of salt." Her album - out May 22, the same day she plays Edinburgh's Liquid Room - is already winning rave reviews. source: http://observer.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,,1754781,00.html what a biatch!

So, Coldplay is playing at the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys... and I bought pit tickets this last weekend. Actually, I have a few extra... and I'd like to offer them to local fans to buy before I try and get rid of them somewhere else. So, you can use this thread, or PM me to find out more about the tickets. As well, this thread can be used to say more (as more is found out) about the performance of the boys in Halifax. I'll let you know anything I find out and any other local fans can dish the news here if they find anything out (i.e. local concerts, radio contests, etc). Any speculation on what they'll be playing? Do you think they'll have a new single by t…
