Take That fans have snapped up all 370,000 tickets for the pop band's latest UK tour in just three hours. Hundreds of people queued outside venues to secure their places, while the Ticketmaster website crashed when the seats went on sale at 0900 GMT. But some fans are angry that tickets have appeared on eBay, with prices already reaching thousands of pounds. The tour promoter said it "strongly recommended" against buying tickets on eBay as they may not be genuine. Bidding for one pair of seats, in the front block of London's O2 Arena, has already reached £9,400, but the auction began on Thursday evening - before tickets even went on sale. "Not one single…

  2. Michael to play first Wembley gig Singer George Michael is to play the first concert at the new Wembley Stadium, it has been announced. The pop star will perform at the 90,000 capacity venue on 9 June as part of his British and European stadium tour. Michael, 43, played several key gigs at the old stadium, including Live Aid in 1985 and Wham's farewell concert in 1986 with ex-bandmate Andrew Ridgeley. Last year, Bon Jovi, Robbie Williams and the Rolling Stones changed venues after delays to the stadium's opening. 'Fitting first gig' Alex Horne, managing director of Wembley Stadium, said it was "fantastic news" that Michael would perform the first concert a…

  3. The majority of my posts have centered on the future of the album, the CD, and lately the radio. I've also spent as much time (in five posts, you may ask) writing about the growth of digital downloading. Thinking about as much as that is (and is not) I am surprised that so much of my focus has been on these kinds of slow-moving ideas. The fact is that no matter how much I deplore the death of certain musical facets, others that are equally as exciting as those are taking off on a regular basis, and this is not limited to simple digital downloading and related topics. Albums and "hot" tracks are not the sole basis for the record industry, but they make up a large percen…

  6. link to sign petition is here.. http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/licensing/ Government Plans To Lisence Live Music. READ! Body: The Government have recently passed laws in the UK to try and suppress live music and dance. Pubs which could previously offer work to solo singers or duos now have to pay for a special licence and can only have 12 of these per year. Even school Xmas concerts need to be licensed. If you don't know there is a UK government web site where anyone can now start a petition and that's what is being done. we've just received the following email which explains things more clearly and gives the site address . Theyre very new I think, released their album last month. You can hear 4 of their songs here: http://www.missflag.com/ Hidden Thieves is my favourite song of theirs atm, hope you enjoy :) Opinions?

The 2007 Brit awards will be broadcast live on TV for the first time in almost two decades, it has been revealed. The ceremony was shown live until 1989, when a shambolic show hosted by Mick Fleetwood and Samantha Fox led to the decision to tape the awards in advance. "British music is in one of its most exciting phases," said Peter Jamieson from the Brits committee. "So what better time to take the show live?" Organisers have dropped the best rock and best urban act awards for 2007. The best pop act category, which this year was won by James Blunt, has also been discontinued. "The Brits has to be about celebrating the very best of music across the board," said th…

Grammys have long, notorious history of missteps Mary J. Blige, with a successful comeback, a best-selling album and a leading eight nominations, looks poised to emerge from the Grammy Awards as the night's big winner. But then again, Mariah Carey was in much the same boat last year. And look what happened to her. Carey led the nominations in 2006 for her "The Emancipation of Mimi" album, yet won only in the R&B categories, not the coveted Record of the Year, Album of the Year and Song of the Year categories. U2 was instead the big winner of the night, with five awards. Are the Grammys trying to mend their reputation of being a sucker for chart-topping …
