(Gibson Amphitheater; 6,089 seats; $300 top) Presented by KCRW-FM; Executive producer, Nic Harcourt; producers, Liz McDonald, Mitchell Frank. Lineup: The Shins, Lily Allen, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Cold War Kids, Breakestra, Bitter:Sweet. Special Guest: Travis. Reviewed April 14, 2007. Saturday's Sounds Eclectic Evening, the 6th edition of KCRW's annual benefit concert, was both a survey of the Santa Monica-based NPR outlet's recent discoveries (all six of the acts on the bill received their first U.S. radio airplay on KCRW) and proof of how the influence of the station's music programming has extended far beyond the range of its signal. While KCRW's expanded web prese…

Once more, with balls - Local band Crosstide is like Coldplay with a backbone Did you ever wish Coldplay didn't seem like a band comprised of neutered clowns bending to the will of Mr. Gwyneth Paltrow? Like, what would happen if they found a genie who could grant wishes and they asked for balls? What might happen if they continued writing romantic songs, but now with their newfound testes? The result might end up something like Crosstide, Portland's dreamy rockers who haven't forgotten how to rock the fuck out. The band began in 1999, playing a ton of local shows and in 2002 released their first full-length album 17 Nautical Miles. A few years ago, the band somehow …

 why oh why Timbaland is into Radiohead [February 11, 2004] In the current New York Times Magazine Timbaland says: ''Eighties music is music to me,'' he said. ''Those are records that make you feel good, you know? I'm tired of stuff now, even stuff that I do. Coldplay and Radiohead are the illest groups to me. That's music. Norah Jones is music. I love real music that I can play and never get tired of. The stuff I don't get tired of is the stuff that's musical.''

Oasis, The Killers and Razorlight are to cover songs from The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band to mark the album's 40th anniversary. James Morrison, The Fratellis, Travis and the Kaiser Chiefs are among the other acts taking part in the special recording sessions for BBC Radio 2. The engineer in charge of the original 1967 sessions will use the same equipment to record the new versions. The results will be aired on Radio 2 on 2 June, a day after the anniversary. The original album was released on 1 June 1967 and went on to be regarded as one of the best and most influential releases in rock history. Last year, it came top of a Radio 2 poll to…

I was just watching them on Jay Leno. Good god this band sucks. They need to do the world a favor, and stop recording, and writing music.

This is inspired by what Blissfully Muse wrote in another topic about how her mom put on Muse's Time is Running Out like 3 million times. Well, most of you probably have parents who listen to shitty music. Its what they do, at childbirth they throw out any decent CD's from the 60s to the 80s. And thats the end of that... UNTIL they finally show they can like decent music by picking up on something decent. As for mine, apart from my dad digging Johnny Cash (Which is kinda expected, Cash still rules over everything though) my mom walked in the other day while Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd was playing, and she said "Wow I used to love this song". :o

Hey, I just found out about these guys today when they added me to their myspace. They apparently are fans of Snow Patrol, Radiohead, Oasis and most importantly, Coldplay! They sound like a mix between Snow Patrol and Coldplay. I definitely like their sound... but I can't find any way to download their music. http://www.myspace.com/touriste

Rules: - at least 10, at most 100 albums - neither compilations (e.g. The Beatles - Anthology), nor live albums (e.g. Coldplay - Live 2003) will be accepted. we can have a separate poll for those albums if you want... although, i'll accept EPs and soundtracks (only those which were compiled by one artist, so no OSTs by various artists) - if you are unsure whether your album matches the requirements or not, ask me - you can edit your post whenever you want, but till the deadline (i'll link your lists to this post, so you can easily find them after) Points system: 1. 500 /// 11. 395 /// 21-50. reducing by 5 (e.g. 21. 345 points ... 50. 200 points) 2. 475 /// …

Hi everyone, I`m a long-time member of the forums, and also one of the artists on the "How we see the world" charity cd released by the forum. I need your help, if possible. If you join the team, you'll get to download ALL of my mp3's (over 40). I`m an artist on Sellaband.com, which is a site that was started up last August by ex Sony Music Europe and Sony BMG people. Artists upload music, listeners invest, and then the artist records and releases a worldwide album (in stores and online). The investors share 50% of the cd profits, and 1/3 of the sites ad revenue (which would be huge, as some tracks will be available for free download). Investors also get a limit…
