Anybody like them? I caught them on the Carling 24 thing on Channel 4 last week and they were in Portsmouth and I recognised a few places they played. They supported Kaiser Chiefs for the Carling thing. I think they sound pretty good. Worth a listen!

I'd never confess that I'd like spirituals. But yesterday, Wits Choir (it's a "band" with 31 members) was in our school. They taught us how to sing some of those songs they sing in concerts, and that was awesome. I talked to them and they were very friendly. So I had to go to the concert as well.. And the perfomance was ******* AWESOME!!!! I had to record it on my camera and since yesterday I've seen it twice. Anyways, Wits Choir comes from South Africa, from Johannesburg. So, anyone? :D

Next to Coldplay... my biggest obsession is buskers! I live in Halifax where we have a huge fest every summer in August (which isn't enough to last me through the rest of the year...). Anyone else love busker fests? Got any good busker stories? Need to explain to the americans what a busker is? ;)

A stinging attack on the music industry was launched today, with the BBC accused of contributing to the mass manufacture of boy and girl bands. The report, commissioned by think-tank the Economic Research Council, blames record companies for failing to break UK acts in the highly-prized US market. It says many of the music industry's problems over recent years, which have seen sliding sales, have been "entirely self inflicted". Creative Destruction in the Music Industry, the Way Ahead, says the BBC unfairly dominates the airwaves and decides what gets broadcast. It says the music industry is fighting a losing battle with the internet and regards it as a thre…

OK, I hope it's alright to post this on the board... Here in Kingston, we have an Ontario Hockey League team called the Kingston Frontenacs. For years, they've had the same 2 singers do the national anthem. But now, a friend of mine who works for them thinks he might be able to convince them to let me sing it at an upcoming game. I thought a petition might encourage them. So, even though noone on here is from Kingston, if you would take a moment to sign, it would be really helpful! THanks in advance!:D http://www.petitiononline.com/fronts1/petition.html

WHEN an unknown 15-stone lesbian from Arkansas was named as the coolest person in rock music last week, the story was covered by, among others, The Times, The Guardian, The Independent and the BBC. The sudden interest in Beth Ditto, the outspoken lead singer of a bluesy garage rock trio called The Gossip, illustrates at least two things about the media landscape. News values have changed dramatically since the days when “quality” papers feigned a lack of interest in popular music — apart, that is, from the threat to society posed by the likes of The Rolling Stones or The Beatles. Second, the coverage showed that after 54 years in business, the NME, or New Mu…

  16. Well what can I say other than it's the time of year, when Louie Walsh's puppets release another covers album, this time it's "Covering 11 of what they consider to be the greatest love songs of all time", in the same dearly ballad style one-tone lyrics with some rubbish backing music to go along with the Ballads. So overall, if you buy this your taste in music can be summed up in one word: "Shit". I thought Sam's Town was one of the worst albums of the year, but compared to this album it's a masterpiece. The Dave Rating: 0.00/10.

  21. David Cassidy: Fame left me emotionally stunted by SARAH GRAHAM, Mail Online Last updated at 09:29am on 21st November 2006 Out with the old: David Cassidy with one of the guitars up for auction His rise to fame in the early Seventies as clean-cut Keith in the Partridge Family made him a teen idol to millions of girls across the world. With a string of hit records and, at one time, a fan club boasting more members than The Beatles and Elvis Presley, David Cassidy appeared to have it all. But by the end of that decade his star had fallen and he was no longer a teen idol. This week, the stage outfits that made so many young girls scream with delight g…

An unlikely alliance of George Michael and the Crazy Frog is set to give X Factor a battle in the race for the Christmas Number 1 this year. To celebrate George Michael’s 25th anniversary gig, the Crazy Frog has recorded his rendition of the Wham's 1984 hit single 'Last Christmas' as a tribute to the 1980s icon. Released on December 11th on Tug Records the Crazy Frog's version of this festive classic looks likely to repeat history and give him yet another chart topper - after all if he can keep Coldplay off the top spot who's to say that the he can't topple X Factor? Wham's 'Last Christmas' was originally released in 1984 and reached No. 2 in the UK charts, one n…

  25. The album is due for release on February 5, 2007 After finally getting the leaked new Bloc Party album i must say my feelings are a bit messed up with both disapointment and pleasure. Silent alarm slowly got me through months of listening, and that's the main compliment for it-making you listen it again and again through longer period of time. I'm afraid Weekend in the city wont do that for me. The album starts with (Song for Clay -dissapear here-) silent Okereke's voice that strikes me as a best possible sequence to Compliments, last song on debut, which shortly afterwards turns into a real rock opener for a album that strikes me as a promising. Strong drum beats i…
