Well I really love Jazz, and my favorite jazz player is probably L.A., he was gnarly!!!! I started to enjoy Jazz since I bought my 1st voulme of a colection called 'BDJAZZ', whose 12 volumes included 2 CD's with the music of a specific artist and a biography in comic strip. I'd like to know how many people here enjoy Louis and his music, if there are L.A. fans around here, let's discuss the man and his music!!!

The Mercury judges have got it wrong - again, writes Neil McCormick The shortlist for the Mercury Music Prize was announced on Tuesday with a mix of big-selling bands such as the Arctic Monkeys and Muse along with breakaway solo artists and the now-obligatory obscure debut. This year's Nationwide Mercury Prize is at best an irrelevance, at worst a disgrace. Its slogan is "championing the best of UK music", but looking at the wilfully obscure shortlist of nominees for album of the year, the question arises: is this really the best we can do? In a year bursting with musical activity of wit, vision, energy and ambition, a panel of judges drawn mainly from London's m…

Rather than breaking them up, solo albums are a good way of keeping groups together, writes Mark Edwards In the space of a month, three singers from stellar bands are releasing solo albums. The Eraser, by Radiohead's Thom Yorke, came out two weeks ago and is being followed by the British release next week of The Great Western, from Manic Street Preachers' James Dean Bradfield, and My Secret is My Silence, by Idlewild's Roddy Woomble. Just to clarify, none of these singers is going solo. All of their bands are still operational, which raises the question: why would a singer in a band need to make a solo album? We can better understand the motivations of the overl…

just in case if you didn't know about the radio broadcast or something ------------------------------------------------ Hi , I'd just like to start by wishing England the best of luck on Saturday against Paraguay. The FIFA World Cup isn't the only big event kicking off this weekend - I'll be joining the thousands of music fans invading the Isle of Wight this weekend to watch some of the best bands on the planet. Yes, the Nokia Isle of Wight Festival is here to kick the Summer festival season off in style. There's going to be some fantastic sets from the Foo Fighters, Richard Ashcroft, and of course, the mighty Coldplay. Speaking of Coldplay, make sure you'r…

Well. As some of you know, I was in Greece for a week. (And now I'm safely back). Anyway, for the last two days of my trip, I was staying on Zakynthos, in a city called Laganas, which is famous by thousands and thousands of British tourists. You don't even get a feeling of being in Greece because of that! So, the city has many many discotheques and guess what! we were in some (or many?) discotheques and of course the DJs were British! And they were playing some cool songs (all in English) and they were great. Unfortunately I don't know any of them and I'd like to ask YOU to help me find them. Just write some dance songs (or any song suitable for discotheques) that …

Filming for Control, the long-awaited film about Joy Division's late frontman, Ian Curtis, began this week. The movie is being directed by distinguished music video director and photographer Anton Corbijn, who photographed the band in 1979 and directed their posthumous video for "Atmosphere" in 1998. He's also worked with U2, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Coldplay, among others. Control is based on the 1995 book, Touching From A Distance, which was written by Curtis' widow, Deborah Curtis. The film will focus on the turbulent final years of Curtis' life before he committed suicide in 1980 at age 23 as Joy Division were preparing to depart on their first North Americ…
