Freddie Mercury Video Streams: http://www.contactmusic.com/new/home.nsf/webpages/freddiemercuryx23x08x06 On 5 September, had he lived, the instantly recognisable Freddie Mercury would have been 60 years old. To mark the occasion, there are two new collections coming out – one of his solo recordings and another of the videos made as a solo artist. Locally, here in Basingstoke I am working with The Academy to put on a very special tribute show, with the internationally acclaimed band MERCURY, on Saturday 2nd September. Within Queen and as a solo artist, Freddie took all the theatrical skills he could lay his hands on, combined them with a superb rock singing v…

So - here's the deal. My friend and I are putting together a twenty minute film to put into a local festival. The film is going to be pretty deep as far as we're concerned. The main character's name is Jude, and the short film is going to be playing off of the redundancy of life, and how everything feels so boring and ordinary. Since it's only twenty minutes we cannot fit much into the movie, but here's the scene outline. Opening credits on a blank background with just Jude's voice as he writes in a journal. Jude reads the journal out loud and describes his bland day just like any other day, except for the fact that he got in a big argument with his best friend (a…

Okay has this ever happened to any other musicians on here? I woke up suddenly at like 4:55am this morning with this verrry vivid and memorable dream in my head. Basically the dream was me being at a concert and I specifically remember the band playing one song from the concert, and I remember it being almost lucid, in the dream thinking to myself "I have to wake up and go and record a demo of this!" lol. So then I did wake up and I pretty much had the tune of the chorus going over and over in my head, along with the word "snow" - I remembered the chorus built to the word snow in some way haha. So then pretty much 5 seconds after I woke I picked up my acoustic guit…

  15. People always ask: "When is Pitchfork gonna run a list of the top albums of the 1960s?" The answer today? Probably never. Not that we didn't consider it. It's just that when we sat down to map it all out, we found it would be more rewarding to approach the decade through its songs instead. After all, it was by and large a single-oriented era-- the long-player didn't really take over as a creative medium until the 60s had nearly come to an end. And besides, Revolver's ego is out of hand as it is. So today, we kick off the largest feature in Pitchfork history, a five-day trip through the first full decade of the pop/rock era. From today until Friday, we'll roll out the 2…

Consistently voted by fans to the top 5 in DJ Mag's annual DJ Poll, Armin has gained popularity through his relentless touring, top-notch original productions, as well as his weekly syndicated radio show, A State Of Trance. His focus and commitment to trance music, specifically, has lent him continued credibility as one of the leaders of the genre. His latest release, A State Of Trance 2006, continues the series he started to capture some of the best tunes of the year. 25. EMI, the British music group behind Coldplay and Gorillaz, has confirmed it is holding talks with YouTube, which could see it offer its content on the popular social networking website. YouTube said yesterday that it has held discussions with a number of record labels in a bid to offer music video downloads. Warner Music Group, which was earlier this year involved in a takeover battle with EMI, also confirmed it is talking to the website. YouTube co-founder Steve Chen said the site hopes to "have every music video ever created" within 18 months. Although YouTube, which was this week named one of Time magazine’s "coolest websites" has spoken with music groups, no for…
