Longtime broker between the music industry and digital music firms will launch his own consultancy in July, with EMI and music info provider Muze lined up as clients. The music industry's most high-profile digital emissary is flying the coup. Ted Cohen, who was one of the first music industry execs to support digital distribution and who has served as the industry's digital ambassador of sorts, has left his post at label giant EMI to start his own consultancy. Cohen, 56, had served as senior vice president of digital distribution for the UK music company and was largely credited for pushing the label to embrace digital music services as new avenues for distribution,…

Mock-up ... how Becks might have looked on the decks It's a blingin' shame IT could have been our best-ever World Cup song – but sadly it wasn’t to be. I can reveal DAVID BECKHAM agreed to make a special appearance on a revamped version of NEW ORDER’s classic, World In Motion. The England ace was all set to bling it up and swap free-kicks for freestyle rap — but FA bosses pulled the plug. The hit footie chant, originally penned for the 1990 World Cup, was set for its second release for the 2002 tournament in Japan. And Becks was up for visiting the recording studio to tackle JOHN BARNES’ infamous rap before FA bigwigs gave him the red card at the last minute.…

If this has already been dnoe, my apppologies. But, I'm pretty sure I'm NOT the only musician/artist on the boards. I include my website in my sig not to be arrogant, but because I believe cross-promotion helps all artists to accomplish their goals. So, who else on here has a site promoting what they do? If we all check each other's out, we strengthen the world-wide artistic community...I.E. Workers' Co-Operative???

Don't you hate it when your searching for lyrics for a song only to find that the website your looking on has taken over control of your computer and has loaded all sorts of crap on it? Don't you hate it when your searching for lyrics only to find out that those lyrics are wrong? Don't you hate these sort of posts which offer you a link to a porno site when it pretends to be a safe lyric site? Well your wrong, because the lyric site which I am posting comes from the same land as wikipedia, as in you search for lyrics on a safe site with low levels of adverts, with a safe name and if you find them wrong, you can edit the lyrics. I present to you: LyricWiki Dot …

Are there songs stuck in your head that you can't stop singing? This is probably something that happens to everybody, it certainly happens to me with a couple of songs at a time which I sing everywhere (I get the lyrics messed up for doing so too many times:P). I don't mean the whole song, just pieces you remember. Right now, I have a Miranda songs stuck,it's called 'Agua' and it goes something like 'agua clara bajo el puente, y en el puente vos y yo, enturbiando nuestras almas, complicandonos los dos, quisiera llevarme algo, siempre pienso que hoy es la ultima vez, siempre es la ultima vez'

Singer Michael Jackson will make a rare public appearance at the MTV Japan Awards on Saturday. Jackson, 47, will receive the Legend Award at the Video Music Awards in Tokyo, said his spokesman Raymone Bain. "I look forward to seeing old friends and saying hello to my huge fan base in Japan," said Jackson in a statement. He said fans in Japan, where he has sold more than 100 million albums "had consistently shown their love and support to me and my family". The pop star moved to the Gulf state of Bahrain after being acquitted of child molestation charges in California last year. Jackson's schedule in Tokyo will include visiting orphanages and meeting with members o…

Reggae legend Desmond Dekker has died suddenly from a heart attack, his manager has announced. The 64-year-old Jamaican, best known for his 1969 hit Israelites, collapsed at his Surrey home. Manager Delroy Williams said the performer had seemed fine when they met a day earlier. "It is such a shock. I don't think I will ever get over this," he said, adding that Dekker led the way for reggae stars such as Bob Marley. "Desmond was the first legend, believe it or not. When he released Israelites nobody had heard of Bob Marley - he paved the way for all of them." The star was divorced with a son and daughter. He had been due to perform at the Respect Festival in Prague…

The Boyzone reunion is “looking hopeful”, according to their manager Louis Walsh. The Pop Idol judge, who has seen the massive success of their pop precursors Take That’s current reunion tour, has been in talks with the boyband about reforming – but has warned them they’ll have to get fit if they want to perform again. He tells The People, “I saw Take That in Dublin last week and it's amazing how good they all look - especially Gary Barlow. The Boyzone lads will have to work if they want to compete. But I've been talking to all of them about the reunion and it's looking hopeful." Stephen Gatley has already taken Walsh’s advice, adding, “It's now just a case of ag…

All the hits, the Beatles megamix, the new one from the Greatest Hits album. They danced, they sang, they were exceptional. now lets hope they really are Back for Good :D :D :D

The idea of this, and it's worked pretty well on the official board is that you list you top 10 albums of 2006, and each album gets a certain number of points. Number 1 album gets 10 points down to number 10 getting one. You can put down less than 10, but the points scale from the bottom one, so say if you put down 6, the maximum your top album could get is 6 points. I'll let this run for three weeks and inform you of the results by then. So get voting people! (If the mods here think this should go in the "World of Music" section instead, then feel free to move it, but due to the fact that it isn't related to any significant band, it's probably got a more general th…
