  1. There are a lot of great albums that are scheduled and rumoured to come out this year. We've already had the release of two greats in my oppinion (The Strokes and Jack Johnson's Curious George Soundtrack). What else are you all looking forward to for this year? I would say that for me the following are all highly anticipated: 1. John Mayer - Continuum (Springish) 2. Outkast - Idlewild Soundtrack (March 7) 3. Damien Rice 3. Arcade Fire (Late 2006) 4. Kanye West - Graduation (October) 5. The Shins (May) 6. Dr. Dre - Detox 7. Iron and Wine 8. The Flaming Lips 9. Maroon 5 10. The Fugees 11. Goo Goo Dolls 12. Keane 13. Yeah Yeah Yeah's 14. Jet 15. COMPLETE BULL!!! John William's scores were both incredible (Memoirs and Munich). On Memoirs you've got Yo-yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman playing together on such a beautiful score, with that perfect sense of Japanese culture. Its a true gem in this century's original scores. Munich captured the tension of the audience so well, and John Williams really helped that out. Its one of his finer suspense scores over the years. Then ya got Brokeback Mountain by whoever that guy is. Sure it was really simple and went with the movie well, but dang. Simple just doesn't cut it, especially if the same theme is repeated over and over and over again in the film. I dunno. If anyone else…

I thought I'd start this thread to allow people to give a mention to Acts, past or present whom they feel have never received the credit they deserve. For me these artists include: 1. Mazzy Star - I think Hope Sandoval has one of the most beautiful, haunting voices I have ever heard. Check out the album "So Tonight That I Might See" to hear what I mean. 2. Neva Dinova - If there has been a song more beautiful than "Did You Disappoint Your God?" recorded by any other artist, I have yet to hear it. That's it for now but I'm sure there are many others deserving of a mention.

Hey, Coldplay are one of my biggest influences, along with people like Oasis and The Beatles etc. So everyone with a spare five minutes, check out my music at: http://www.myspace.com/alexgladwin You don't have to be a member to listen to the music either, but if you are a member there, add me as a friend!! Unless of course you think my music is shit, lol, then don't bother adding me!

  10. The British are coming! The British are coming! Aside from the Coldplay/Richard Ashcroft shows Wednesday and Thursday at the Air Canada Centre, there's enough high-profile English acts coming to Toronto in the next two weeks to fill a soccer pitch. Tomorrow night, Brit-pop bad boys Oasis and buzzed-about newcomers Arctic Monkeys take over the ACC. On Tuesday night, Arctic Monkeys return to play their own headlining gig at the Phoenix. "What a shame, I'm just going to miss them," Ashcroft says of his Oasis pals. "I've never seen the Arctic Monkeys live but I've seen them doing a session on TV and the record sounds very live anyway.Yeah, I think that'll be amazi…

U2, Coldplay, Led Zepplin, Delerious?,Keane, Radiohead, Doves, Smashing Pumpkins. As their site describes: Imagine a band with the zen like guitars of U2, the crashing drums of Led Zepplin, the melodic piano of Coldplay and the unique vocal styling of Billy Corgan....this is the sound of The Contact. check em out: http://www.myspace.com/thecontact Recommended songs: Never Fly Away, and Paralyzed.

TORONTO -- For those of you who've been living under a rock, or who are mellowing out for tonight's swoon-filled double threat - Coldplay and Richard Ashcroft at the ACC - here's the deal: England's Arctic Monkeys are music's hottest thing. Dubbed by one U.K. periodical as this generation's "Most Important Band" and gulped down by ravenous English listeners, who recently made the Monkeys,' "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not," Britain's fastest-selling debut album of all time, in equal measure, the baby-faced quartet made their first Canadian headlining appearance last night at the Phoenix Concert Theatre. Exploding onstage with the bombastic "The View …

Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke has dismissed Tony Blair as a man with "no environmental credentials". The singer has revealed how he turned down a meeting with the Prime Minister to discuss climate change. Yorke is an ambassador for Friends of the Earth and the charity asked Yorke to meet Blair to talk about environmental issues. The star said dealing with Labour "spin-doctors" had made him feel ill. 20. http://www.joepurdy.com Joe Purdy is a guitar player who was born in Arkansas and has been touring in small clubs all over the USA and Europe. He sounds like a mixture of John Mayer, James Taylor, Tom Petty, and Dave Matthews. His genre is a mixture of folk, bluegrass, and alternative. His song "Wash Away" was featured on ABC's show Lost, and his songs "The City", "Suitcase", "Far Away Blues" and "I Love The Rain The Most" were featured on Grey's Anatomy. I discovered him after hearing his song on Lost and since then have had an obsession with his music. He's made 4 albums on independent labels, 2 which were unreleased and 2 that are available to buy online. Hi…

A blend of rock, jazz and classical rock music — spiced with some Parikrama left scores of Bangloreans in a dense musical haze as it resonated every nook and corner of Palace Grounds. This unusual initiative by Radio City 91 FM to promote three new local rock bands is laudable indeed. Spanning eight weeks, the weekend show ‘Radio City Live’ — featured eight talented but little known bands and recorded over fifty original compositions across multiple genres of alternative rock, country music, classical rock, Indian fusion music inspired by folk traditions. The show provided a unique platform to all those who aspire to be rock stars, but otherwise do not get the opportu…

Yes. There isn't a thread for them. And they're quite good. Don't know why... but I have all these old vinyl's of my parents and they are quite good. quite good. Does anyone have a copy of "Can't take my eyes off of you" on mp3? It is, in my eyes, the best. By far. Because one time, my friend Robert sang that song to my english class at the Transition school I attended after Hurricane Katrina. Good times. I'd recommend singing it to your fellow classmates/coworkers. Makes for good times.
