Radiohead singer Thom Yorke has insisted the band will not split with the release of his first solo album. The Eraser has been produced by Nigel Godrich, responsible for Radiohead albums including The Bends, OK Computer and 2003's Hail To The Thief. In an e-mail to Radiohead's fan organisation Waste, Yorke said he had been "itching to do something like this for ages". But he added that his solo ambitions had not outpaced Radiohead's. Cancelled "The band now touring, writing new stuff and getting to a good space, so I want no crap about me being a traitor or whatever, splitting up blah blah," wrote the musician. "This was all done with their blessing.…

I only have their latest CD, The Guest, but these guys are fabulous! The drummer is Jason Schwartzman (I got the spelling wrong) he is the actor from the film Rushmore. Anyways songs I recommend downloading are California (which was their first single from the album), Always On My Mind, Hey Now Girl, Lonely Day and One Ray Of Sunlight. They are SO good. The band kick off their tour in Copenhagen Radiohead played eight new songs as they kicked off their first tour since 2004 in Copenhagen tonight (May 6). The band debuted new material from their eagerly awaited seventh album, as well as playing a host of classics at the KB Hall. The new tracks primarily showcased a return to guitar-driven songs in the style of Radiohead's classic 1995 album 'The Bends', with many featuring the three-pronged attack of Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Ed O'Brien. '4 Minute Warning' was the most instantly memorable new song, a classic pop tune featuring Yorke on piano and O'Brien on acoustic guitar. On 'Bangers 'N' Mash' Yorke …

Reformed boy band Take That will record their first new album for a decade after their comeback tour was a hit. The new album will not feature original member Robbie Williams but will include songs written by all four other members and is due for release in the autumn. "It's great for us all to be writing together for the first time," said Mark Owen. "We want to make a great record, the best record we've ever made." More than 400,000 tickets were sold for the tour, which started in April. The band had eight UK number one hits between 1993 and '96, selling 25 million records across the globe. Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and Jason Orange have signed…

  16. Kurt Cobain has been voted as the greatest rock 'n' roll hero of all time by readers of NME. In this week's special edition of NME - out nationwide today (May 10) - the late Nirvana guitarist has been shown to still be inspiring music lovers across the world, over ten years after his tragic suicide. "The first time I met Kurt he was watching 'The Wizard Of Oz' on TV at a B&B in Shepherd's Bush just before 'Sliver' was released - he looked like a grunge Christopher Robin," former NME writer Steve Lamacq remembers. "There was something very innocent about Kurt, he had an almost childlike detachment. The way he used to withdraw inside himself made him a terrific ob…

  17. Nelly Furtado has turned off the light on pop music -- at least for the moment. On her third album, "Loose," due June 20 via Geffen, she makes a concerted effort to get jiggy. "For a long time I kind of denied my R&B and hip-hop roots," the Canadian singer/songwriter tells Billboard.com. "All that rap and R&B I listened to as a kid made an impression on me; I used to write R&B songs in my bedroom that sounded like Mariah Carey songs. Now I'm tapping into that again, and I'm like, 'Wow, I didn't know I could go back there.' It feels so good." Though she wrote and recorded material with Track & Field (which co-produced her 2000 debut "Whoa, Nelly!" and…
