There were rounds of thunderous applause, brightly painted signs covered in hearts and piercing screams from flustered girls who were practically crying in delight: The AllNighters' spring concert was Hopkins' version of a `90's boy band show. The all-male a cappella group performed their annual spring concert this past Saturday to a rowdy crowd in Mudd Auditorium. The 16 strapping young men in their signature ties and vests were soaked up the energy from the audience. The AllNighters have been wooing female crowds since 1992. Their numbers have been steadily increasing over the years, according to senior James Clark, who serves as the group's president. This year the…

THE screams were half an octave lower, the clothes were a bit bigger and the hands were clutching plastic beakers of wine instead of homemade banners. Since the people they had come to see last played together they had left school and gone out to work. But when, towards the end of last night's show, Take That announced they would be walking into the audience, they were screaming girls again. The group strolled in, looked at each other, and must have realised their comeback tour had just turned into a phenomenon. "People used to wave cigarette lighters in the sky," said a wonder-struck Mark Owen, still frozen at 10 years old. "But if you hold your mobile phone…

I recommend you listen to it in the order its been given. Any advice, comments or pure mindless criticism is welcome. We're using Rapidshare here: -Click on the link, scroll down, click on 'Free' -Scroll down again, wait until the file for download appears For those with Winzip/Winace can download it in 2 half's: …

... 5. Ecstasy As if convincing countless innocents to spend nights crushed into dilapidated warehouses, waving glowsticks and bouncing along to the same monotonous groove wasn’t bad enough, ecstasy also taught a generation of dance-music auteurs that songwriting was as easy as looping a beat, then taking a nap. 4. Neverland Ranch It’s not as though everything was hunky-dory for MJ before he moved here. But somehow, the star’s retreat into a llama-stocked, Ferris-wheel-equipped, 2,600-acre Southern California funny farm in 1988 didn’t help his psyche. Wacko Jacko may since have emerged from his rustic Xanadu — dangling a baby off a balcony here, facing child-moles…

Q. You were touring with Coldplay — what was that like after not touring for so long? A. It was really a lot of fun. It was surprisingly easy. I was thinking about 10 years ago, when I opened for big bands like that. I used to hate it — it was always in these huge places, the sound was really weird, and the people don’t know who you are, and the ones who do know don’t like you; they’re talking through the performance. But everything I hated about it was exactly the reason I wanted to go out this time. I was using it as a ruler to see how I handled things because I used to not handle it so well 10 years ago. I guess the big difference is that this time, everyone know…

US rock band The Red Hot Chili Peppers have hit out at a music "pirate" who leaked their new album, Stadium Arcadium, onto the internet. Bass player Michael "Flea" Balzary said the group would be heartbroken if fans downloaded it illegally before its official release. Stadium Arcadium, the band's first studio album in four years, is due to go on sale next week. A spokeswoman for the band said she did not know who leaked the album. In a letter on the band's website, Flea wrote: "For people to just steal a poor sound quality version of it for free because some asshole stole it and put it on the internet is sad to me. I cannot put in words how much this record means t…

He said, I'm gonna buy this place and burn it down I'm gonna put it six feet underground So sings Chris Martin, front man of Coldplay, EMI's top-selling act. But is Eric Nicoli, the music group's chairman, having his very own Rush of Blood to the Head with his $4.23bn offer for Warner Music? Nicoli could be forgiven for having torn out what's left of his hair several times over during the past seven years, given the number of times he has tried and failed to tie the knot with Warner. He's got close at least twice so he's now hoping it's third time lucky. Warner Music, led by Edgar Bronfman, is right to have rejected EMI's $28.50 "preliminary non-binding propos…

She co-wrote James Blunt’s biggest hit; now Amanda Ghost has the belief to go it alone, says Paul Sexton Twelve months ago, Amanda Ghost’s career was on the critical list. She gave an unbilled South by Southwest performance that was attended by approximately three men, since even the dog didn’t turn up. For all her potential star quality, one wondered where she could turn next. Earlier this month, at Joe’s Pub, a chic establishment in New York’s Village district, that career was officially reborn. Ghost and her band played a gig that had some extremely grands fromages from the American record industry buzzing around her like bluebottles. The captivated audience …

As far as the eye can see there are over-excited women in their late twenties and thirties sporting impressive cleavages and pink sequinned hats. Wearing Gary Barlow T-shirts, they clutch plastic pint glasses along with their hog roast rolls and camera phones. The noise is an ear-splitting mix of cheering, singing, foot-stamping and screaming as Mexican wave upon Mexican wave races through the capacity crowd at Newcastle's Metroradio Arena. Finally, just as it seems some of the especially well-refreshed ladies might explode, a video on the huge screen above the stage shows four 30-something men in velvet pail coats and frilly white shirts. One is short and…

The farmer behind the Glastonbury Festival has been awarded the highest possible honour by an organisation representing record industry managers. Michael Eavis has been inducted into the Roll of Honour of the Music Managers' Forum. He said it was "quite thrilling to know that after 34 years of organised chaos, I am deemed worthy of this award". He added the festival - which began in 1970 - was so successful because its mix of arts and culture was unique. "We do a whole lot of expression in music, theatre, circus, dance and poetry and green things," he said. "It is very, very different to anything else and people can try to copy it, but it's not the same…
