I'm helping a friend compile information on Jon's gear for a guitar website we're trying to get together. I think I've got it pretty much covered except for one thing- During the Parachutes era, I know, Jon's main guitar was a blue telecaster JD, but did he also play another Tele live. I seem to remember a live picture of him with a different Tele (perhaps a backup). It was also blue, but alo had large silvery splotches on it. I think it was in the live photo section here, but can't find it now... I know it's a really obscure question, but we really wnat our archive to be as complete as possible...

I know Jonny uses a RAT and a Tonebender Colorsound, but what does Chris use. He gets a nice mellow distortion a lot when he's playing rhythm, but as far as I know he doesn't use any pedals; does he have a rackmount unit?

Anyone know what brand and style keyboard/synth that Chris and Jonny were using during the MTV movie awards? I wanna say I have seen that unique blue colored synth somewhere but now I can't find it... Its either a yamaha or a Roland. Anybody pick up on it?

There are weird effects played as on bass in Viva La Vida the song. The part(higher cello tones) are played on bass between: 00:28 - 00:40 And between 00:41 - 00:55 and 00:56 - 01:02 and alot more. So it is an more synth effect with a bit overdrive effect.. more like a cello. I can't find out the exact effect.. someone know?:\

I know it's a Gretsch, but the video doesn't give a close enough look to determine the exact model. Does anyone have any info? I've never seen him with this guitar outside of this clip...

during the concert...i noticed the johnny was using more than one guitar. do u need more than one guitar to play all of coldplay's songs or is it possible with one?

Hey all! I have the parachutes tablature book, however, I do not believe the music for spies is 100% correct. The chords are right, but I don't think the rhythm or strumming pattern derived from the music works, and I have had trouble trying to hear it out myself. Anyone have their own written version?

I've got the chords A / D / G, an acoustic guitar and I want to learn this song. Basically i've got the strumming pattern. D U D DDD DUDU DUDU (repeat) I just need the chord pattern (ie where you change chord in the strum pattern) Any help would be great. (Note the chords i got don't sound right, maybe their wrong or maybe im not supposed to hit every string in the chord)

On Lovers in Japan, does anyone know what Jonny uses to produce the "doppler" effect in the middle part of the song. It's clearly some effect applied to the guitar line, bu to my knowledge he doesn't have anything in his rig (like an H&K Rotosphere) that can produce this effect.

Hi guys, i'm new here and am becoming more and more of a Coldplay fan. Yesterday, I heard from the radio a song by Coldplay. The song kept repeating a phrase with "parachutes" in it, however I'm not sure if the title of the song is "parachutes" because when I downloaded their single "parachutes" from Acquisition, it only lasted thirty or so seconds. The song I heard from the radio yesterday lasted around 3 minutes, and I'm definitely sure it was sang by Coldplay. Could you guys help me lead to this song of Coldplay? Thanks.

I was watchin a german live performance of Violet Hill, and I noticed how distinct johnnys guitar sounded. Like an overdrive with maybe an octave pedal? Im not sure, anyone know?
