Genuinely excited for this. Arcade Fire is the only band I'm even remotely passionate about relative to Coldplay.

Yep. I discovered them thanks to Chris mentioning them in X&Y era interviews as an influence (or notably in Toronto 2006 "God gave you style and led you higher/God gave you the music of the Arcade

Yeah I got into Coldplay first and then slowly started getting into Arcade Fire. Once I started to realize their similarities and that Coldplay toured with them during the LVL era, it made me become a

Yeah, I followed a path similar to yours. I am a big fan of VLV and MX (the "midplay" era, ahah) and when I discovered that Coldplay mentioned several times AF as an influence during that period, I st

I check Coldplaying for the first time in quite a while and I stumble upon this great news.

To be honest, I haven't listened to Arcade Fire for quite a while. They used to be basically my favorite band, but I grew a little bit tired of them. The new album might change that.

^Yeah actually I got a bit tired of them too, but I'm pretty sure that this new album will change that again :)

I still love Funeral (Who couldn't?) and really like Neon Bible, however the Suburbs completely killed it for me, I thought maybe 3 or 4 songs were alright.

So it'll be interesting hearing a new album.

I have great memories with The Suburbs, so it might be my favourite Arcade Fire album. But Funeral is clearly the best and Neon Bible is pretty good too. :)

I don't want to burts anyone's bubble but here is the exact quote:

"Sources close to beloved Canadian indie rock gods Arcade Fire have told REVOLT TV that music from the follow up of the band’s Grammy Award–winning 2010 album, The Suburbs, will arrive on September 9."

the phrase "from the follow up" as opposed to just saying the follow up makes me think that it will be the first single that comes out on 9/9 and not the new album.

NME seems to agree...

"Revolt TV cites sources close to the band, saying a brand new track will be out this autumn. However, September 9 is not the release date of a new album, which will be the follow up to 2010's 'The Suburbs."

Still pretty cool news though.

Are release dates normally announced 10 weeks prior? Is that not a little unusual, particularly if it is for a single?

Oh ok den.

I don't keep up with stuff and normally find out after things are released cuz I'm cool like that.

Coincidence? I don't think so...

Sorry Fran but I think you need to get out more.

Wanna play golf?

I hope the next release is better than the last. The last was OK but nothing special at all.

I sort of agree with this, the weakest of their albums by far for me, it was still good but compared to funeral and neon bible, just didn't do it for me except a couple songs (suburbs, ready to start). I think the new album needs more Win screaming.

I thought Suburbs was really good... it was just too long. And if this news is true, then where's the single? When is that coming?
