Yeah I got into Coldplay first and then slowly started getting into Arcade Fire. Once I started to realize their similarities and that Coldplay toured with them during the LVL era, it made me become a

Yeah, I followed a path similar to yours. I am a big fan of VLV and MX (the "midplay" era, ahah) and when I discovered that Coldplay mentioned several times AF as an influence during that period, I st

THIS

I hate pirates... arrrr

one day I'll get an international credit card and I'll buy so many albums that I will end living on the streets

i'm listening to the suburbs for the first time (never heard anything from this album since i decided to wait for the release).

i'm on to track 5.

i still haven't heard a song that would have got onto the other two albums. i hope it gets better.

I was thinking the same when I listened to it first...didn't have the time so far to listen to it a second time....but I hope it gets better, too:uhoh:

yeah, i'm gonna give it as much chance to win me round as possible, but it just doesn't seem to have the quality of songs or beauty of the other work they have done. so far it seems they have relied too much on the energy and lots of string arrangements that took their good songwriting to the next level, rather than the actual good songwriting itself.

it just doesn't have the substance and it's why i don't have much time for u2.

a few people i know who don't like them as a band have criticised them for simply being a big sound and thinking having lots of instruments can hide their bad points. i've always thought they were crazy after an amazing album followed by a very good album, but now it just feels like they've been describing this album all along

beauty of work. That's a good point. I've been missing this when I first heard it. There are some beautiful songs on it, but considering the amount of songs it's just a tiny part. Well, I guess I expected too much.

For me they've made some really special beautiful music on their first albums...this one sounds too erm common for me...

can't wait to see them live in November....and I am glad they still play a lot of their old stuff

well i'm sure their new album will play better live given the potential energy in it. that could be something that takes it to the next level. there are a lot of albums that don't manage to make the transition to the studio but sound great in rehearsals and live gigs.
