Yep. I discovered them thanks to Chris mentioning them in X&Y era interviews as an influence (or notably in Toronto 2006 "God gave you style and led you higher/God gave you the music of the Arcade

Yeah I got into Coldplay first and then slowly started getting into Arcade Fire. Once I started to realize their similarities and that Coldplay toured with them during the LVL era, it made me become a

Yeah, I followed a path similar to yours. I am a big fan of VLV and MX (the "midplay" era, ahah) and when I discovered that Coldplay mentioned several times AF as an influence during that period, I st

Hahahaha yeah. :wacky:

I know you're all tired about my The Suburbs not liking but after listening another few times, I now know what it is I don't like about it. Funeral and Neon Bible were amazing, because they're special and not a lot like what other bands were doing at the time. But what I'm finding with The Suburbs is that it's not special at all. It sounds a lot like most Alternative/Rock/both bands are doing these days.

And that makes me really sad...I've tried hard to like this album...

This vid is hilarious Lore :D

@Eddie: How many times have you listened to this album? Cause even after 3-4 times I didn't find it very special, same goes for my sister. NowI'm totally addicted, and I think it's as good as the first albums, even if it's different... Listen to it more?

I've listened to it 7-8 times...heh. As I said, I've been trying to like the album by listening to it more than I should have...I just really don't like it...

That's a shame.. Have you tried listening to some songs live?

they make me feel worse about the songs. Haha. But maybe if I see them LIVE live I'll change my mind ;)

I guess you're a hopeless case then

See them live if you can!

I had a discussion with a musician I was interviewing last week. We were talking about how music doesn't always have to be pushing the envelope and how that is sort of a problem in modern music. Look at folk music for example. That is a genre that still has fabulous singer/songwriters carrying on old traditions. While obviously technology allows for some more innovation, for the most part it is still very driven by vocals and acoustic guitars sort of thing.

So I think sometimes we set our expectations to high for everything, expecting every album to be super creative and groundbreaking or different. When that happens you can miss the beauty of something that is just plain old good.

^I totally agree with that, as good the band might be, we shouldn't have too high expectations :nice:

i hit a deer earlier while listening to the suburbs

i just assumed the deer wasnt a big fan of arcade fire

Basically, I'm listening to The Suburbs over and over again cos it's so genius <3

That is all.
