Arcade Fire

Glad to know you had a great show and the chance to meet them, even if they didn't seem to be the friendliest guys ever..

That's weird cause other people who met them didn't say they weren't nice, but more shy I think

Yeah, the show was fantastic. They are so good live. They are one of the few bands to come out in the last 10 years that I will make it a point to see everytime they come around.

I threw the meeting experience out there to see what others have encountered. I live in Los Angeles, and musicians have become accustomed to being harassed by professionals, which I am not. Next time I'll drop the $20-$30 and buy the poster from the show. I spent $2.99 and blew a photo of Win and Regine up to an 11X14. As they exited the venue, they both walked right past me but wouldn't touch it. Oh well...

Yep. I discovered them thanks to Chris mentioning them in X&Y era interviews as an influence (or notably in Toronto 2006 "God gave you style and led you higher/God gave you the music of the Arcade

Yeah, I followed a path similar to yours. I am a big fan of VLV and MX (the "midplay" era, ahah) and when I discovered that Coldplay mentioned several times AF as an influence during that period, I st

I knowww I wanna see them so bad!

Well that's weird, I think they're just really down to earth and don't want to behave as celebrities

I can't recommend them high enough. Everyone should save their money and make Arcade Fire the show of the year if you can only make it to one. It is really worth it. Just don't stick around afterwards.

Would definitely be the show of the year/life for me!

That's too bad you had a bad experience, I'm sure they're not always like that :/

Not to hash out something that has probably already been discussed a million times on this thread, but do you like the new album? I'm kind of hot and cold on it at this point.

in my opinion its one of those real slow burning albums. doesnt leave an instant impact but is a very rewarding listen once u invest some time into it. i would be the first to admit that it is their weakest effort but when you're first 2 albums are called Funeral and Neon Bible the bar is set pretty damn high. in terms of how well it encapsulates its theme of the suburbs, it is an incredible effort but the theme itself is rather bleak and unimpressive and that really does have a negative impact on the album as a whole.

i still think it is an amazing album by an amazing band.

I'm sitting at an 8/10 atm, I think there's a few too many fillers. 12 songs would have been fine. I just don't find myself sitting down and enjoying the whole thing through like I do with Funeral.

At first I didn't like it as much as the previous albums, but after a few listens I was totally fond of it, don't think it's too long or anything :nice:

Btw my uncle is a musician and said it was their best album, cause Funeral "sounds like music which already existed" (don't know what he was referring to) and Neon Bible is "too dark". So he said the Suburbs was really original, but well it's just an opinion

Maybe they just have had bad experiences with people trying to get autographs to sell. I know that you like them for your own personal collection, but I could see why they would refuse to autograph photos of them. They seem like a pretty finicky band that way.

I find with some artists its a fine line between if you want to just say hi and strike up a quick convo or if you're going to ask for an autograph.

I like your experience better Jo

I'm sure they're nice, but I guess they're just shy and want to act like normal people

Yeah, I agree. I would have asked them to sign something else, but Funeral is the only cd cover that works (Neon Bible is dark and The Suburbs is ultra glossy). Plus, Jeremy is not on the first CD. And fitting a band that size on a CD cover is a task.

I don't understand policing that stuff. I don't sell it, but who cares if I did. Some fan who lives in an area where they may never see Arcade Fire is getting a genuine autograph, and the seller is making some money that he will throw into a struggling economy. Big deal.

By the way, they also turned down my buddy who had a set list from a show in 2007. I just don't think they were having it that night.

I should add that I'm not crushed. I go to the shows because I'm a fan, and they were fantastic. I stay afterwards to meet the band for the same reason - I'm a big fan. It just didn't work out this time.

Question: At what stage during their Neon Bible tour was Mirior Nior released?

EDIT: An does anyone still have a working link for the 1080p unstaged tour full that was posted?

For sure. And I just wanted an opportunity to go all jr. high and use a picture to respond to a comment.

I have to be honest when I saw the reply I thought "Isn't Briggs like 20?!"

I personally think "Rococo" is quite an annoying song. :shifty:
