Your First Job..

Featured Replies

What was your first, crappy, or uncrappy, part time job?

Or for the lazy young uns out there who havent got one, use the following experiences of shitty first time work as your inspiration for applying for a job TODAY

Thank you!

Well my first job, first first first, for collecting a pay check, was cleaning knives. I was 14, and worked with my friend, who still worked there up until just the other day, as hes getting replaced by a machine! ahahaha, oh the novelty of it. 4 years, and a machine finally comes along... hahahahahahaha

Yes, just knives, and thats all I did, because it was a gigantic restaurant, and I only had to work there for 2 days haha. But incredibly interesting, I'd spend 4 hours cleaning the knives, and then 4 hours drying them.

Replaced by a machine, bwahahahaha...

That sounds like a dream

Well, I didn't have my first real job until I came to university. My parents wanted me to focus on my schooling, so I waited a while before getting one. Oh and when my parents first came over to Canada, they delivered flyers and I did that with them. We were pretty poor at first, so seeing all these pretty condo and stuff was really a downer.

But...when I was like 14ish, my two friends and I had a dog-walking service (funny I know). It was called JVJ Dogwalkers (Justine, Vicky, Joanne). We would walk neighbours dogs and people would give us a little bit of money for it. It was funny. I really like animals and since I didn't have a dog of my own, this was nice.

The first real job was working at a movie theatre, which I stopped going to about a year ago. I have never seen such lazy and uninspired people as I did at that job. I have lots of horror stories. I don't go to that theatre anymore!

My first was work like a postman, with my dad. leaving adverts on mailbox at houses and cars.. it was dangerous because some houses had dangerous dogs :stunned: a bad work, i was 14. and was on a summer... i worked like 2 oe 3 weeks, was tiring and i finally didn't earn the money i was promised to earn but i learn that work is hard.

Then like two years ago my aunt was going to own a kidergarden but she can't, i was going to work there, i didn't mind how much money i was going to earn or how many hours i must work there, it was going to be a family bussiness. I just wanted to work there to work in some place and earn my own money and get experience working, but she can't run it at last time, even she had bought games and beds for babies. :/ but she didn't get an autorization from the council i think. :/

Now i want to have a job but i'm too lazy to look for it now and decide one.

Haha wicked. I think I might like it in there because I swear, EVERYTIME I go into that one Xtravision I always see 2 or 3 people I know, even if its just to pop in a rented DVD. I MEAN WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?!

Yeah that was the cool thing about it and mine is right across the road from my house so it was dead handy! :)

Another good thing was all the free ice cream and munchies you get to bring home  not to mention the dvds and stuff, but it can get pretty quiet and really boring

But thats why the DVDs are good! If it gets quiet and boring, I can still have seen a movie that day...

In my Xtravision theres only ever 1 person at the till, and nobody else seems to be around. So Im guessing you can actually choose what movie you want to put on...

glass collector. What a sad pitiful existence that was. Disgusting work :dozey:

I've worked in a supermarket during last summer's holidays. I was a cashier. Bleep. Bleep. ZZzzzz...I earned like 3 bucks a hour.

  awwwww

Yep you get to choose whatever you want to watch, but what annoyed me was that we weren't allowed watch anything over 12's before 8! :dozey:

when i was 14,me and my friends delivered taxi cards and then we got sacked when someone phoned the taxi office and said we were throwing about the street

LIAR!

YEAH we might have dropped a few by accident, but never "throwing them around the street"

we had the best time :D

my first job was at age 14, when i worked part-time (after school/evenings/weekends) at a full-service gasoline station attendent.

That meant that I had to run out and open the gas tanks of people's cars (usually the fat cats from Boston or local fatcats on their way to the near-by ski areas or other scenic travel destinations :dozey: ) and fill gas in them while they say cosy in their seats. I was also expected to open the hood (what you Brits might still be calling 'bonnet' :D ) of the car and check engine oil level, check transmission, wiper fluid, etc. If anything needed replinishing, ask the customer if they want it filled-up too. Oh, and then the worst part...check all the tire air pressures. That was horrible when it was bitter cold outside and snowing. I also handeled the cash register and once when one of the town's ladies forgot to pay and drove off, i called police on her, only to find out that she is the village doctor's wife and she wasn't a thief but just embarrasingly forgot to pay for the tank of gas! :stunned: :embarrased: . Ohh and this one time, while locking up the place at night, I wasn't fast enough to lock the door and get outta there, and I accidentally triggered the burglar alarm! :embarrased: . But the owner was an old friend of my uncle's and he didn't fire me. :D :P

but the tips, i thought at that time, were generous. i would buy candies from the vending machine if i got some "extra cash" :D

ahh...that was a nice job!

Ive never worked.. I'm too lazy :P

Ri cleaned knives? Haha!

I was a sales assistant at a stationary shop, but the boss ran away :disappointed:
