Things you don't like about X&Y

Featured Replies

I love the new album myself

LOVE IT

A Message is one of the best songs ever along with Hardest Part

the only thing I could say is not so good that some of the songs can get kind of boring

Swallowed in the Sea is a great song, I like it, but...it sounds so dull at times, you have to be in the mood to listen to it

The annoying 'synthy' sounds that are in pretty much all of the songs eg. square one(most annoying), white shadows, talk, x&y......

The list goes on. :snore:

I don't like Tíl'Kingdome Come,I don't know why I just don't like it :/

I didn't like the cover of the album but it has grown on me.

its not that i don't like til kingdom come but the fact that it was a song written for johnny cash.. really made it a johnny cash song and not a coldplay song.

so i didnt get why they'd put it in the album. i'dve prefered Things I Don't Understand or Proof on there.

It makes for a better tribute if it's in the official album and not on some bside. The public (here in the US anyway) doesn't care much for bsides unless you're a big fan, so the average person wouldn't know of it. I'm glad it's in X&Y.

I don't like Til Kingdome Come and Swallowed in the sea, also the noise you can hear in the last songs; I really don't like the art work, I don't hate it but just don't like it

Swallowed in the Sea's lyrics....cmon Chris

PLEASE I hope they don't release SINT as a single, it will only add fuel to the fire of the haters.

That's my fav song after Twisted Logic. Don't see why so many people dislike it and the lyrics...it's absolutely beautiful.

Some of the songs go on way too long. Low, White Shadows, Talk, and The Hardest Part for example. If they were shorter and more to the point, they would be great.

I don't like the fact that there isn't really a slow song. I don't know why but I like a lot more of their slower songs. Examples Careful where you stand, I Bloom Blaum, Easy to Please, Scientist and Warning Sign. Fix You is slow but I don't know I love the song but...........it's just doesn't impact as much. Only songs I really listen to on this album is What if, Fix you, SOS, A message, and Low. These songs don't even really move like Clocks, Yellow, In my Place, Daylight.

I don't know

Exactly :idea2:... Like Jonny has said, this album is full of dense songs, A Message being the one that gives space to breathe. That being said, A Message still can't compare to their previous songs listed ^, it really still is too heavy. Listening to X&Y tends to be exhausting whereas their previous songs/albums tended to be rrefreshing overall

Yeah, i was really hoping for those, i'm not sure wot to call it but i'll say "dreamy" songs like Trouble, Sparks, Careful Where You Stand, The Scientist, Warning Sign, and so on. Fix You is my fav track simply because of the way it moves me. But then again i have a change of taste and feel for more rocking songs wiv catchy beats like Square One and Low. (I love the wine glasses, yes it's wine glasses not spoon for Gods sake, Will said so :dozey: )

Now on X&Y:

+ I liked the old version of Talk (new one is fine yeah)

+ The Hardest Part, it's a bit too poppy.

+ Beginning of Swallowed in the Sea, that low synth argh. But the climax is good stuff

+ Twisted Logic: That first gasp of air Chris takes, the song starts too abruptly.

+ Til' Kingdom Come, someone said that 6 second bass...I Agree. Altho, Jonny's guitar sure picks it up..for a while..

Jonny picks up the songs and make em worth listening to, even if i may not love the song entirely.

I'm not being cynical, i juss happen to have these things about X&Y that i tried to ignore but they all came out now coz of this thread..damn it. I juss can't force myself to like some parts or songs, no matter how hard i try, not that anyone is forcing, lemme have a listen at X&Y once more! :D

^^^ agreed. buckland's fancy geetar work makes a lot of the songs bareable.

i think x & y is a great album except, it lacks the intimacy of Parachutes. with that album it was like the band were in your living room singing and playing just for you! that's why i love that album so much and they lost that on AROBTTH, and have lost it for good methinks.

but they've grown up so fairplay to the coldplay ;)

*applause*

Things you don't like about X&Y depend on things you like about Coldplay. Parachutes filled an empty space in those hearts who were melancholic. There were no fast songs and that means a specific style. AROBTTH expressed a different kind of ideas. It shares with X&Y the soft in crescendo ballads but you can't look for a permanent line that describes the whole work. Personally, I find new hoeizons in every single song. ;)

-Lyrically cheesy.

-Overproduced.

-Lack of creativity.

Best Song: How You See The World (Yes, a Japan Bonus Track...sad but true)

Worst Song: The Hardest Part (About as corny as you can get)

Overall a step back for the band. They need to stop worrying about sounding like the biggest band in the world. Not every song has to sound huge.

I don't think so. Do you really believe a band has to compose "bad" songs to get a kind of balance between high and low quality? The more great songs you have the best band you become

for me as i'm listenning, my opinion is changing.

First, I loved very much"What if" and "fix you".

I was so hypnotized by these songs that I've no more interest for the others.

Until I've discovered The hardest part (excuse me, but I'm listenning that song for 4 days non stop !) , talk, ans X&Y.

I'm not comfortable when I listen to "A message" and "swallowed in the sea" but maybe tomorrow, my opinion will change because of a discovering in the text or in the music....

yeah i like the hardest part too, very nice song.

although i think x&y is a great album and every track is brings something to the record, i do feel like some other people that i wouldn't mind having a quiet acoustic track on it. then again, they may release the quieter ones as b sides so i doesn't really matter. proof was great

I dunno really :/ i wouldn't remove any tracks for a quieter one. i like all the songs on it. i suppose i can just wait for the b sides :)

This is their best album ever, except that I think Till Kingdom Come should just be a b-side.

^how can you think its the best album. But I suppose you are entitled to your opinion.

It's too overproduced, I really can't stand the songs that sound so U2-ish, I agree with badlydrawngirl: there's no intimacy :( It sounds too much as everyone expext a Coldplay album would sound. It's alll too huge ! I'm not saying it's a bad album, cos I listen to it quite a lot, but I'd like if they'd try something else. Something more simple and straight. Must say that I really love the songs I love, by the way :)
