Do you really think that Kaiser Chiefs are more "trendy" now?

In the eyes of the music press, Yes! There has been a kind of backlash against Coldplay over the last 12 months, because some people resent the success they are experiencing.

It's very typical of the British media to build someone up then try to tear them down.

WOOT WOOT! :D Can't wait to see it. Hope they're performing. When is it? Are they on tour?

Chris Evans tho :/

I really really know what you mean....I know so many people who just hate Coldplay for no particular reason...only that theyre bigger this year so they find them "annoying".

Ok, well, I don't know what the British media is like. But I guess this is all about money, as everything else is.

First they hype someone to get as much money as possible and then after squeezing them out, they look for another band. Business. That's all.

I know only about what the situation in Hungary is like. I don't want to bore you with it, but it's not any better than the British one. It's different but still shit.

Sorry, it's not about the Brits...

I found on a German TV schedule that Coldplay is one of the guests at the NRJ Music Awards 2006 in Cannes on Saturday January 21th. This award show will be broadcast by the French TV station TF1. Maybe we have some nice French people here in the forum who can record this show. ;)

guests: Ingrid Chauvin, Aure Atika, Claire Keim, Jamel Debbouze, Michaël Youn, Tony Jaa, Mélanie Doutey, Natasha St Pier, K-Maro, Johnny Hallyday, Stomy Bugsy, Doc Gyneco, Passi, Robbie Williams, 50 Cent, Coldplay, Shakira, Ricky Martin, Black Eyed Peas, Craig David, James Blunt, Raphael, Gérald de Palmas, Emmanuel Moire, Lââm, M Pokora, Madonna

yay for coldplay,. 4 nods for brit awards!!! :D :D

All these "awards" shows are just about reciprocal backslapping within the industry.

I think you'll find the nominations are pretty much spread around the major record labels so everyone gets a bite of the cherry.

You'll probably find that most of the stuff featured on the show is garbage you haven't heard before and won't want to ever again!!

And yes - it's obviously been decided that the Kaiser Chiefs are "flavour of the year".

Next year it'll be someone else.................................................

here is my complaint. not enough Oasis.

who comes up with this? how rediculous, do these people even like music? Or just take whatever they saw on the MTV. Industry wanks.

although they havent succumbed to the evil that is advertising (i.e. selling their songs to commercials), their music has become very very commercial sounding. parachutes and arobtth were unique and no one but coldplay could have done them...X&Y could have been done by any band with talent and a big production budget (save for a few songs...fix you and maybe till kingdom come)

i still love the album but coldplay has gotten so big so fast that they feel they need something to prevent them from deflating (this was alot of the critics criticism too and they have a point)....i dont know how much bigger they can get. there is a limit and i hope they dont approach it anytime soon.

their music needs to go back to the basics...no more expensive over produced albums...go back to arobtth...it was unique...X&Y has headed them in the wrong direction. they have said they will go darker next time around...that'll be interesting for sure.

X&Y was overproduced' date=' they are trying to hard.[/quote']

of course it was...they recorded the songs in a reltaively short amount of time, but it took almost a year to produce and put them together...

Yeahhhh...4 nominees...and I'm gonna listen to the show cause it will be forecast live by an Italian radio (as long as I don't have BBC  )

:juggle: :juggle: :juggle:

Yes, I agree. Although they stated they wouldn't return to their previous albums' style, I definitely expect something like the first two albums. I love X&Y but not as much as Parachutes or AROBTTH.

I don't know what they intented to imply with "darker", but if it means less commercial and more unique, then I'm really looking forward to listen to it.

As for the advertising, my experience is that when the media realised that more and more people got to like them and listen to their song(and it was obvious if they considered the record selling charts), they tried to make money out of everything that was in connection with them.

And I agree, popularity means pressure on the band. And the consequences are very well-known.

Also, everyone in the band says that they've always wanted the next album better than the previous one. I guess they think that they always need to do more and more records that please the fans, the media and of course themselves.

Where I live, Parachutes was very poorly advertised, very few people knew about it, the media didn't care at all. After releasing AROBTTH, Chris marrying, being in tabloids and so on, the media grabbed them here. X&Y was promoted by one of the lowest quality radio station, which is a shame if we regard what kind of music they play.

So I really hope they'll come up with something more unique and less media concerned. The funny thing will be if after this media hype they'll make an underground, very unique (like Parachutes) album that won't please the masses and sell less albums. That'd be a shock to their "fans" and the media too.

Don't misunderstand me, I don't want them to be dissapointed, but this way may be the only way to make them realise that they were losing their unique sounding and they need to return to the basics, as you said.

i don't know what to say, i know how everyone was sceptical towards the live performances of X&Y cus of all the *plastic sounds* in songs. i won't lie, this album is good, very very god, but it still to this very day hasn't woke up all the emotions that the 2 two did, and the thing that kinda diaspointed me (though it's too harsh word) is that i couldn't really connect with songs, even though that's starting to change, but i don't know. they've kinda overdone it, man when i remember see you soon live performance, or AROBTTH i got tinkles and just get wraped up, and as for X&Y songs they're perfect show songs, great songs really but..still can't really igure out what's missing.

on the other hand i started to think that all this negative, okay not negative but critical attitude for new coldplay is coming from all the media *conspracy, cus in the last 2 years, ever since chris and gwyneth got toghether everything seemed perfect, as for before band seemed, well, i can't describe..and when you see what the hell we have read about chris and all the hype regarding his wife and all i can't stop wondering if this whole attitude came from that cus 8as media present it to us) what the hell is he talking about with millions in pocket, beautiful baby girl, oscar winning actress and all, and as you can see there no mentioning of the rest of the guys, cus even 5 years after all coldplay is for most of the world just chris. i'm talking how media might started to affect on subliminal level to all of us.

well that's it, hope you understod what i was trying to say.

Ohh this is great.

I know what you're trying to saydajrekshn, everything surrounding X&Y seemed to be blown out of proportion...maybe because of the celebrity hype surrounding Chris and Gwyneth.....but I got the feeling, everybody's watching the band now...I love X&Y but agree....it seems more polished than the other two albums...not the same raw music that the other two have.
