I think it would be great if they would record Poor me, Moses, Ladder to the Sun and Idiot for the next Album.

But i don't think this will happen....... :(

eh, a change will do Coldplay good, I think if they didn't change their ways for the next album, then it would really start to sound really monotone. As long as they don't try to pull a Kid A out of their asses I'm fine. haha.

That being set, I'd really like to hear Coldplay recording with a Phil Spector kind of wall-of-sound treatment. I think they could do great stuff with two heavily distorted guitars, a bass, and loud drums.

Let's look at something here...

Coldplay has been successful with Parachutes, then even moreso with A Rush of Blood to the Head, and X&Y blew both of those out of the water. None of those were drastic, they pretty much stuck to the same roots.

The way I see it, they will only make a huge change to their sound if they know it's going to work. I trust Chris, Johnny, Guy, and Will. I don't think they'd screw the fans over.

I think that they ABSOLUTELY shouldn't make songs in country or hip-hop style, maybe they can a little techno add, but notall the songs and no one song in techno-only :P don't take me bad :P but I think they should play a little more guitar and make some more Rock songs, not ballads, but one or two in new album - why not :) but more guitars and Jonny's riffs and I'll be very pleased (like bigger part of you maybe ;) ) and don't resign of piano! never! It's one of most important part of Coldplay! ok, greetings :P i could never stop ;) greetings

I really hope they do a step into another direction... not too drastic, but I mean they did everything they could do with the typical Coldplay-Sound on the first 3 records. It would be really, really great If a new album doesn't have the typical Piano-Ballad-Sound...

Look at U2, they comepletly invented theirselves new in the 90s and It was good cause they expanded their musical horizon.

Please, Coldplay... not another "X&Y" with the typical Coldplay-Sound... I hope they do a new album... faster and darker, like Chris once said

I think that they're intelligent. The music of the 4th album is going to be very nice. :wideeyed:

I want that their new songs sounds like more punk ('cause I'm a little punk).. or more electrical, but in the same time very very soft. :D

But... if they don't use the piano... Is very very sad! Without piano, Coldplay isn't Coldplay... think about it Chris!!!

When they say hip hop and country, they don't mean they'll be rapping over gangsta beats, and singing keith urban songs. I think its more just taking a little influence, like they did with Kraftwerk influencing Talk, or Brian Eno and Bowie on X&Y.

More importantly though, I don't think its a huge deal if they have less piano. I think it would be cool if they started using different instruments. I really think that having strings would intensify their ballads and could give them cool new sounds. Also when I heard that they wanted to have a brass band on Solid Ground, I thought that idea was amazing! I think that Coldplay could definitely work with horns and trumpets and all that good stuff.

guy is getting more and more on his importance for this band. ;)

According to Chris Martin, the 4th album has already been written, and, according to him, it will be the best album ever. However, he also says that he wishes he could have performed songs from X&Y live before releasing the album as a way to test them out with the audience. I would expect the same for the newly written material. I would expect to hear some new songs months before teh release of a new album.

where did u read this or hear it?

The comment about the album being already written came from todays interview on Radio 1. And the comment about wishing to play more songs live before releasing them came from another radio interview that I can't recall, but trust me... he basically admitted that if he could do it over, about 3-4 songs would have been replaced on X&Y with something else. One example I can think of is "what if". A song that they had higher expectations for, but perhaps, did not get the reaction desired.

thank you i had heard all those other things but i didnt know about the already written album part probably cuz i havent listened to the radio 1 interview yet

well i will wait for the 4 album, im guessing sumtime next february or march, what about u guys ? they do need to finish tour and record.. so it could possibly be alot longer

Everyone seems to be unhappy with this change that the band are saying they're going to do, but I am actually glad. Offcourse I haven't heard the album yet but I think X&Y was the final chapter. I mean, we didn't get fed up on X&Y but if the next album would sound the same we would probably get a bit bored. And I don't think they should go backwards, Parachutes was an amazing album, but they should move in a completely different direction, not forward or backwards. Have anyone heard Yellow on the Coldplay Live 2003 (they paly it on the soundcheck)? When they play it fast and more rocky with no piano, guitar instead? It's brilliant! I mean if the next album sounds similuar to that i will be so pleased! They will never get completely red of the piano, but why not rest it on this album and use guitar instead? But all we can do is wait and see...

looking forward to their 4th album.

i think changes are necessarily essential to them. it is changes that shows they're growing. every band gotta refresh their music.

I think you mean Trouble on the Live 2003 DVD, not Yellow. And yes, it was very cool!!

Well if they go darker and to a point where I cant stand it. I will just call it a day and I will be a fan of their older stuff. Simple as that. Cant please everyone can they? But I wish them luck with their experiments, they have always had awesome songs experimenting, so we'll just sit and wait till they speak about it more. Im tired of the rumors. I'm sure we will all hear about it somewhat soon.

I like coldplay old songs most than the new ones

they're good, but so loud!! and they need more love songs!! :D

No. No. No. There is nothing more cliche than a love song.

half of me is really upset about the possiblity of no pianos on the next album, but the other half is confident that whatever they come out with will be decent, at least. i really dont think theres any way ill hate whatever they come out with, and ill always love their old stuff and who they are as people. but i do have to say that i will HIGHLY miss their pianos, since thats what made me fall in love with them in the first place, and i dont think they'll ever be as popular if they ditch the pianos. but i LOVE sleeping sun, so if theyre going in a direction like that, ill be happy (as long as its not too country). change is good to an extent, but i think they need to stay true to who they are and were, even if its just the slightest bit. and PLEASE no hip hop! ah, no!!

but how much do you want to bet that these are rumors that they put out to get reporters to shut up? i think thats a likely possibility.

and if they already have the 4th album written, then i have confidence in them, because lots of the stuff theyve tested on audiences is AMAZING IMO, and im thinking whatever they have may be similar

i just want them to continue as a band, they have fun doing it, and i have fun listening to it. i dont care what it sounds like, but i would miss the piano. other than that, it could be kazoos and high pitched sqeals and i would think it was brilliant.

I would definitely miss the piano too! I remember listening to Trouble for the first time on radio back in 2000 or 2001, and that's when I instantly fell in love with Coldplay.

It was especially the piano intro that gave me chills every time I listened to it and most of the Coldplay songs I like best feature the piano, like Trouble, What If and The Scientist.

However, I'm sure that the new album will be great even if it goes more into the direction of Twisted Logic, but I can also imagine that Coldplay only mentioned this about the pianos to get some rumours and speculations going.

I'm still hoping that they will include the piano at least some...
