^It wouldn't be so annoying if she didn't CLAIM to be an animal rights activist. J-Lo loves her fu, and although I think it's excessive, I'm not angry at her since she's never come out against fur or meat. It's her hypocracy that's bothering so many of us.

^exactly. however, as much as i think wearing fur is completely wrong, it's mostly the hipocracy that's bothering me with this. she should just say something rather than refusing to comment. not that that would make it too much better, but something would be nice.

Well, to kill and animal for food, you can just kill it. But for fur, to avoid getting blood on the fur, they eletrocute the animal through the anus or sometimes skin it alive. This is wrong.

Better hope that we're at the top of the food chain, and that there's no one out there who wants to wear US!;)

I know how she must feel trying to reconcile her beliefs with her career needs. I LOVE wearing leather, but it's needless, and I've been wrestling with my conscience about it for a while. On one hand, like I said, it's pointless. But on the other, at least it comes from an animal that's already being used for food, and for some cultures, it's essential to their survival. So is fur...if you happen to live in the North, but since she's in California and claims to be against all forms of animal cruelty, her ad campaign can't be justified.

And like someone else already said, she'd be better off to face up and make a statement rather than refrain from comment. We're a pretty forgiving bunch, given half a chance. (Even the maker of the 'Gwyneth Paltrow Pisses Me Off' thread, lol.;))

Apparently she's been wearing fur for years. I didn't know that, which is why I was so shocked. She definitely won't be issuing an apology if that's the case...

I just don't get why anyone would wear it, I really don't. :(

^I didn't know that either. I just assumed she practiced what she preached.;)

I guess not. She spoke about it in 1998 calling it 'feminine and elegant" and has been pictured wearing it with Ben Affleck and has a mink coat

UGH! And yet she's so up in arms about not eating meat. I'd rather eat a living thing than wear it for the sake of vanity!! I'm not a vegteterian anymore, so I don't preach about it, but she DOES! Fur has one place...in Northern cultures where it's used to keep warm...and they use all parts of what they kill, making it a lot more justifiable. (It annoys me when people say no one on earth needs to eat meat...ever tried a veggie diet in the Yukon?). Fur anywhere else on this planet is just gaudy and pointless, imo...and so 1970s,lol.

I say if Gwyn gets to wear fur, Chris should get to wear leather...and lots of it!!:laugh3::sneaky: (Oh, sorry, we're not in the Perv Unit thread, are we?;))

Um... she's always said she eats fish and seafood in general. So does Chris... I don't get the big fuss. It's just an ad

... I don't get the big fuss. It's just an ad

thats what im trying to say....i mean its just an ad its not like she literally going out and killing them....and by the way she looks very pretty in the pictures!

Just because she didn't personally kill them doesn't make it alright  The blame doesn't just stop at whoever killed the animal, it's the people who buy the fur and keep the industry alive.

Animals killed for meat are killed humanely, animals killed to make a coat are killed cruelly, they die in extreme pain.

I just don't see how in this day and age, knowing all we do about the fur industry anyone can think it's okay to wear or promote it.

can you explain what exactly you mean with killing humanly? how can someone or something be killed humanly???

hu·maneprime.gifness n.

Synonyms: humane, compassionate, humanitarian, merciful

These adjectives mean marked or motivated by concern with the alleviation of suffering

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/humanely

To kill something humanely is to do it without it suffering.

;)

All Gwyneth needs to do is come out with a statement to clear all this up...until she can come up with some kind of explanation and/or apology, I'll be in here clubbing her name like they club the baby seals she likes to wear...:dozey:

She wears fur?? Oh god, I can't belive this

Not so long ago I had watched a clip from peta, Asia.. fur. I can't describe how shocked I was. It was the most cruel thing I've ever seen  The animals are still alive when they're get skinned, to not ruin the fur.... Oh man. And at the end they threw it away, bloody, still alive, and with a pain I can' imagine...

Maybe Gwyneth should watch that clip, too......

IMO It's not just an ad. She's a famous woman, lots of people wear things just because she wore them (remember Gwyneth effect on high heels?). So, if she's wearing fur it's such a bad influence to a lot of people.

Gwyneth And Oprah Go Heart To Heart

Gwyneth Paltrow, who doesn't usually do in-depth interviews for television, is sitting down with Oprah for a little girl talk. The queen of controversial topics returns to the airwaves this Fall, and Gwyneth will be there spilling some dirt on what's going on in her life, and possibly the life of her peers.

A source tells Life & Style, "It'll be Gwyneth's first in-depth interview in quite some time. She may talk about the rumors of Madonna and Guy Ritchie's split, as well as her own marriage."

Not only that, but Oprah is expected to touch upon Gwyneth's battle with depression. We're sure it's all just part of the show! Can you believe this is Oprah's 23rd season on air?!

Hmm, odd, she has nothing to promote, her next film isn't out until 2009.

oh yay!!!Thanks for the news.I don't care for Oprah but whatever.I'll watch it anyway

once we know the date, i'll definitely watch that. i'll need things to occupy me at college, and daytime TV is usually such crap that i don't even bother to turn the TV on before 6. but i will for gwyneth :D

Exactly, the problem with the women on fashion that use fur is that they set a trend, and if there´s somebody who will buy that shit, there will be somebody who will sell it and therefore killl the animals for it.

Nos, is not true that there´s a difference between the kill of an animal that will become food and the one that will become fur. Both are normally painfull in standard bases. For example, in USA they kill the chickens by throwing them against walls or they beat them with sticks. I think the difference here is that we need the animals to survive (no matter how sad I´m about knowing how they kill them I have tried to be a vegetarian but I just can´t, so I have to live with that blame :embarassed:) and to kill them to use them as "luxurious" clothes. THe second is an innecessary death and is part of this stupidity of being a star or being famous just for your "fashion style". And is actually a bad thing that Gwyneth sponsors such a criminals, although I think she´s just trying to put her career back on track.

What I do not understand is that she´s a vegetarian and she still wears fur, also that Chris actually doesnt care about this. He seems to have the brain in the right place but well, is her career and her choices.. Sad thing though, I really lost a little bit my respect for her, cause she seems nice, she´s a good actreess and seems to be an inteligent woman.. :\
