  • I just wanted to say, after 5 years of being part of the Coldplay fandom, first on Coldplaying, now on Coldplaying, Twitter and other platforms, a wonderful thing happened today: Coldplay followed me

  • I ran away
    I ran away

On this day exactly 5 years ago, a young and innocent person who was just getting really into Coldplay wanted to sign up on a forum called Coldplaying. Faced with the question of what to pick as a use

  • Today exactly 5 years ago, I joined the Coldplaying community and I don't regret that that. To be honest, it's probably one of the best things that have happened in my life! I had never thought I woul

I'm always thinking, what would it be like if Chris and the gang got stuck in my mothercountry. And they were ponies..........YAY! They'd know the awesomeness called Coldplay! Or maybe they'll call themselves Starfish again. o_O

Beyonce posted a photo from a Coldplay concert :D

MX Tour Program

Has anyone else bought the MX tour program at one of the shows? I love it, it has such great interviews and pictures, and the dedication at the end of the book is the sweetest thing ever!

I know coldplay will perform at the paralympics but they totally were missing at the closing ceremony! :( i wonder what song they would have played.

^Yeah they were missing...at like the whole Olympics, actually. :( I don't recall hearing one Coldplay song played in the whole games. Maybe I wasn't listening close enough or something....but at least they'll be at the Paralympics. It's something. :)

Yea, not one time did i hear a coldplay song anywhere :( yea but are the paralympics gonna be on tv? They dont get much coverage :/

You are right - the paralympics do not get much coverage, which is really sad.

These handicapped / disabled athletes not only have to overcome a handicap in their everyday life in society, they are also training to be the best within at least one sporting category.

So I am really impressed at what they can do. (Not to say that I am not impressed at the athletes at the past Olympic Games, because they are all amazing).

But so sad that the paralympics are somehow forgotten - or more or less ignored. The celebrities are keen at being present at the Olympic Games, but are missing at the Paralympics.

After the Olympic Games the medal-winning athletes are often celebrated (received by the state of head or at the city hall) - and the newspapers are full of coverage of their performances and background, whereas the results of the paralympics are recorded, but that is all. No reception and celebration of their just as great (if not greater in a way) performances.

So much a great  to Coldplay to perform / play at the end of the Paralympics. They are certainly not ignoring this event, but attempting to draw our attention to the paralympics.

A great :vuvuzela: to Coldplay for this.

I like how Coldplay helps me get over my sadness more quickly. You listen to their sad songs first, then their happy, more cheered up songs! It really helps!

You expect Mylo Xyloto to start playing. :P

Yea i am glad that coldplay are doing the performance for the paralympics. They probably were thinking about that, about giving the paralympics some attention because they dont get covered on tv. I hope they manage to get more attention to those athletes that deserve being seen & honored just as much as the rest of the olympics!

But it would have been nice seeing them close both ceremonies since coldplay is that awesome :D

I think they should've opened this "Olympics" with what I think is the best Britain had in music. Don't get me wrong, Paul McCartney is a pretty cool dude, but they should've also had him with Coldplay, The Who, or even Elton John to sing with him too! A nice homage to the Olympics being hosted on English soil. But oh well. Those are just my opinions.

I agree!

I agree too, but tours are booked so far in advance that traveling would have been pure hell on the boys. They'd have pretty much had to fly out right after a show in the US, play the Olympics and fly back. Yikes!

Aw, they agreed to do the paralympics? That's cool.

Yeah, sounds like a lot of people have complaints about the way the regular Olympics were done. I didn't watch them save for the closing ceremonies, and even then I didn't get to see the band I was interested in (Muse), but it sounds like you guys aren't alone in your thoughts.

TecHniCoLoR_MX, ha, same here. Anytime I see that movie now I'll be thinking of the band.

I was thinking about that earlier, too. I was making a list of Coldplay songs to put on a CD for one of my friends, and while I was going through and putting down little notes about what songs I particularly liked, I kept making comments about that very thing. They really know how to brighten your day and make you feel better. I've often compared their music to a nice cozy blanket or a comforting hug or something along that line :).

Yeah I don't think they're going to be on tv...at least not in the US. :( Which is really sad like you guys have said. These athletes are so inspiring, and I would have loved to have seen their athletic performances as well. I've gone to triathlons, where I've just done the 5k run cause I suck at the other two events , and I see these people with disabilities doing extraordinary things. It always makes me think, "Wow!" cause I have both my feet/arms/ etc and I can't do those things. I've taken my niece and nephews and they're both just as amazed! It's nice for children to see these types of things because it encourages them to believe that there really are no boundaries when you work hard enough even with a few setbacks.

As for Coldplay performing at this event, while I would have loved to have seen them at the Olympic ceremony as well, I'm proud to say that they are even if it's not as grandiose as the other ceremony because the Paralympics deserve to get the best performers there are. ;)

On the front page of today's paper, there's a picture of a boy in the main article and he's wearing a Coldplay shirt. :awesome:
