This is great news. The only actualy Coldplay news I've cared about in the last, oh maybe 6 months. I really like Brian Eno as a producer. I'm a huge U2 fan and I think U2's best albums were those produced by him and Danny Lanois. (Achtung Baby and the Joshua Tree).

I know, I know, I know now that #4 will be sh*t.

Eno did the last album, and it was way overproduced.

 

If ever there was an era where Coldplay and Radiohead would be compared, than I think its going to be in the next few years. I can see them failing at what they are trying to achieve.

Low did not suck. It's up there with Twisted Logic and X&Y with being the better tracks on the last LP.

I guess Coldplay are trying to find that new sound.

 

So when it gets released it will spilt the fan-base in half, half will love it, half will hate it, and that half will move onto another coldplay sounding band to make them popular.

And Low sucked.

I guess it's just a matter of musical taste. I love "Low" and I would LOVE IT if the next album goes in that direction. If you think the 4th album will suck just because you don't like the electronic direction they're going in... then don't buy it I guess. :P Personally, I think it'll be their best.

Well said. When I first heard Coldplay, they were alternative. Now that they're a mainstream band, everyone is copying their sound...including them,lol.:lol: It's refreshing to see them moving into new territory. And, as I've said on here a hundred times, a band has to keep experimenting with their music...otherwise it becomes boring for them. And no matter how important we, the fans are to them, no matter how much they 'owe' us for their success, the needs of the artist have to come first.

 

I'd love to be a fly on the wall for these sessions...Chris and Brian are both notorious control freaks...should be some interesting conversations taking place!:)

What Eno will do, is not let Coldplay get to sucky....we may not see a ballad on this new album...unless the subject matter is about something other than a girl....maybe with lyrics more like the revised version of How You See The World. Personally, I hope they sound like something completely new, so that idiot reviewers will listen to it, and their heads will explode. :)

Don't know... I'm a bit worried after reading this article, although I don't really know Brian Eno. I'm afraid that I probably don't like their new stuff. On the other hand they can't do more and more songs which sound similar to the songs they've done before.

Why would I need to take a long hard look at myself for that, I am really dont like Low, and that is my opinion. Just because you think Low is a great song, doesnt mean that everyone else should feel that way.

 

Im not bashing X&Y, X&Y is a good album, when compared with many other artists today. But in comparison with Coldplays other material, it is weak. I and many other fans that have stated their opinions on X&Y realize what Coldplays potential are, and I personally wouldnt say that they came close to reaching it on X&Y.

But thats just my humble opinion.

 

And on the subject of commercialism, I do like music for the music, which is exactly why I dont care for commercialism in music. If I wanted to listen to music that was for making money (which dont get me wrong, I realize that thats what Coldplay do for a living) I would listen to Britney Spears or something along the lines of that. I realize they do make their living off of albums, but I dont like to be reminded of that when im listening to the album.

agreed. x&y isn't even close to what coldplay has done before and still is capable of doing. i guess that 4th album's gonna be *deciding* one.
